Corning is a technology-based company that operates in four business segments. Co.'s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (LCDs), which are used mainly in notebook computers, flat panel desktop monitors, and LCD televisions. Co.'s Telecommunications segment produces optical fiber and cable, and hardware and equipment products for the worldwide telecommunications industry, while its Life Sciences segment supplies laboratory products. Co.'s Environmental Products segment includes ceramic technologies and devices for emissions and pollution control in mobile and stationary applications, including filter products.
