Parallel Petroleum and its subsidiaries are engaged in the acquisition, development and exploitation of long life oil and natural gas reserves and, to a lesser extent, the exploration of new oil and gas reserves. The majority of Co.'s producing properties are in three areas: the Permian Basin of west Texas and New Mexico; Fort Worth Basin of north Texas; and the onshore gulf coast area of south Texas. Co.'s principal properties consist of developed and undeveloped oil and natural gas leases and the reserves associated with these leases. At Dec 31 2006, Co.'s total estimated proved reserves were approximately 28.7 million barrels of oil and 58.9 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
