Stephen F. Moseley joined the Academy in 1970 and has served as AED's President and Chief Executive Officer since 1987.
Education: Ed.D., Nonformal Education, University of Massachusetts. In addition to his earned degree of Ed.D from the University of Massachusetts, Dr. Smith received an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the University of South Florida in recognition of his contribution to the fields of public health and social marketing. He is also the recipient of the 2004 Andreasen Scholar Award which recognizes extraordinary achievement in social marketing. Expertise: Health communication, behavioral science, and social marketing as applied to health, nutrition, education, family planning and the environment. Vivian Lowery Derryck is Senior Vice President and Director of Public-Private Partnerships at the Academy for Educational Development, a 45-year-old U.S.-based non-profit which concentrates on education, health, and economic development in more than 80 countries abroad and the U.S. A veteran foreign affairs specialist, Ms. Derryck has served the Assistant Administrator for Africa of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S . Department of State, Executive Vice President of the National Council of Negro Women, Vice President of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, President of the African-American Institute and Senior Advisor of the Africa Leadership Forum. She taught at the University of Liberia from 1973 to 1977. Since returning from Liberia, she has continued to follow events, serving as an election observer in 1997 and 2005, and working with the Sirleaf administration to secure support for girls' education and maternal and child health. She was educated at Chatham College (BA) and Columbia University (MIA).
Bonnie Politz is Vice-President and Co-Director of the Academy for Educational Development's (AED) Center for Youth Development and Policy Research in Washington, D.C.. In this capacity, she coordinates the Center's efforts to mobilize communities and to strengthen the youth development infrastructure at the local, state and national levels. Staff and project management, proposal development and fundraising, enhancing organization and community linkages, and meeting facilitation are tasks associated with this position.

Carrie Walton Penner, is currently a full time parent and has a background in education reform research and philanthropy and earned her masters degrees in Education Policy and Program Evaluation at Stanford. Walton Penner served as a consultant to the Willowbrook International Preschool in Tokyo, Japan and was a Research Analyst for an evaluation of the Michigan Mathematics and Science Centers for Woodside Research Consortium. Her former jobs include evaluator for the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, program officer for education for the Walton Family Foundation, and served in internships at the Rockefeller Foundation, Aaron Diamond Foundation and Academy for Educational Development. Walton Penner serves as a volunteer for the following organizations: Board of Trustees - Phillips Brooks School in Menlo Park, CA; Board of Advisors - John Gardener Center for Youth and Their Communities at Stanford University; Headmaster's Board of Advisors - Chair, Governor Dummer Academy and the Board of Directors for the Walton Family Foundation. Walton Penner lives in Northern California with her husband, Greg, and their family.

Dr. Ralph E. Grubb joined Rycat in 1995 after a distinguished twenty-seven year career at IBM. In addition to working with Rycat, he is Senior Consultant for the Academy for Educational Development (the Educational Facilities Laboratory), a non-profit organization devoted to research in educational organizations and facilities design, located Washington, DC. Dr. Grubb was a pioneer in computing and educational technology at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY. He has held numerous technical management positions in education in the U.S. and Europe. He was responsible for the design and implementation of instructional spaces, systems, and networks at IBM's Corporate Technical Institutes at Thornwood, NY; the A. K. Watson International Education Centre, La Hulpe, Belgium; and the IBM Australia Education Centre, Sydney, Australia. He was also consultant to the design and operation of the IBM Executive Education Center, Palisades, NY, and the IBM Education Centre in Hong Kong. In addition, he served as consultant to IBM's advanced instructional technology projects worldwide. Most recently, he was Education Advisor to IBM's Corporate Director of Education and helped formulate the company's strategic plans and programs for education. During recent years, Ralph has been consultant to Motorola University for the design of a wired campus and satellite network; IBM on international education program development and evaluation, and on customer education programs; Corning, Inc. for educational staff development and the design of a new corporate education center; KPMG for the creation of a distance learning network and curricula; BMW for the design of instructional programs for a satellite network; Cornell University, School of Engineering for new satellite television programs in instructional technology; and the Office Technology Assessment of the U.S. Congress for analyzing training in the workplace. Dr. Grubb completed his doctorate in psychology and education at Columbia University and has been Adjunct Professor of Education there for more than a decade. He has served on the Board of Trustees for both the Institute for Distance Learning at Regents College, the State University of New York, Albany; and at the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the University of Rochester. During his service at the University of Rochester, the school conducted its experiment on education reform through the National Center on Education and the Economy. He has authored more than two-dozen publications on the topics of education technology, networks, and learning, and serves as a consulting editor for the International Journal of Machine Mediated Learning.

Frank Beadle de Palomo is the Senior Vice President and Director, Global HIV/AIDS Programs, and Center on AIDS & Community Health (COACH) at the Academy for Educational Development (AED), Washington, DC (2003-Present). In this role, Mr. Beadle de Palomo is responsible for leading AED's HIV/AIDS programs and development activities and for AED's leadership in global and domestic HIV/AIDS arenas. Additionally, Mr. Beadle de Palomo manages a program budget of $16 million annually focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment programs in the U.S., and in more than 15 foreign countries; overseeing approximately 150 staff (30 in the U.S. and 120 in foreign offices). Mr. Beadle de Palomo is the past Section Chair (2001-2002), Governing Council member (1994-1996; 1998-2001), and Program Chair (1997-1998; 1998-1999) of the American Public Health Association, Community Health Planning and Policy Development Section; past Board Chair of the Mary's Center for Maternal and Child Care, Inc. (1995-2004) and past Secretary of the Fund for the Future of Our Children (1999-2002). Frank has an M.A., Medical Anthropology and a B.S. in Biology from Stanford University, Stanford, CA.

Student-athletes in all 15 sports at New Jersey City University are provided with the best in first aid, injury prevention, and rehabilitation through the office of head athletic trainer Jessica Springstead, who enters her third year at NJCU in 2006-07. Springstead came to NJCU in October 2004, and after one year as interim head athletic trainer, was appointed to the position permanently in August 2005. Springstead and her staff provide coverage of all practices and competitions, and work closely with team physicians in the event of injuries, and during pre-participation exams. Springstead is in charge of medical care for all NJCU student-athletes, working closely with the New Jersey Sports Medicine Institute. She and her sports medicine staff provide everything from ankle taping to rehabilitation following major surgery. They use the modern facilities on the lower level of the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center for evaluation and rehabilitation, and rely on the team doctors for consultation and direction in treating and repairing major injuries. The state-of-the-art JMAC training facility includes a whirlpool room, electric stimulation and ultrasound machines, hydrocollators and the Kin-Kom (isokinetic machine for testing and rehabilitating injuries to major joints). She holds certification from the National Athletic Training Association Board and is licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners. She is currently a NATABOC Examiner. Springstead is certified in first aid, CPR, AED, and OSHA by the American Red Cross.
John Kinsella currently serves as a Senior Program assistant in the Center for Enterprise and Capacity Development at the Academy for Educational Development (AED). As a Peace Corps Community Economic Development volunteer in Mongolia, he worked with Mercy Corps' Rural Agribusiness Support Program focusing on areas of small business development and marketing. After Peace Corps, he worked briefly at CHF International in their business development unit before being hired by AED. He holds a bachelor's degree in history and a master's in Public Policy.
Currently, Holdsman is also an adjunct faculty member at Temple Universitya s College of Education.A He serves on the board of the Philadelphia Student Union which promotes youth-led organizing and activism among Philadelphia's school students.A He holds a law degree from Temple University School of Law.

Michelle Feist is a Senior Program Officer at the Academy for Educational Development (AED)a s Center for School and Community Services. Ms. Feist currently serves as the director of AEDa s DC Middle Start work where she leads a team that is helping to support the districta s transformation to high performing middle grades schools. Ms. Feist also serves as the Interim Director of the National High School Alliance, a partnership of over 50 organizations working toward excellence, equity and advancement for high school-age youth. As the Interim Director, Ms. Feist manages a large learning network that has met regularly over a period of 6 years to 1) identify and disseminate effective strategies to help all students graduate college and work ready and 2) help partners strengthen their own work on the school, district, state and federal levels.

Natalia Lopez has served on the Third Wave Board for 4 years now. She currently works at the Academy for Educational Development (AED), serving as the Deputy Director of the New Voices Fellowship Program where she develops the programming for New Voices, organizes the bi-annual meetings, and provides technical assistance to the Women's Rights and Reproductive Rights program areas. Natalia has also worked on Marketing, Selection Panel, and Communications for the program. Before joining AED, she worked for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund Institute helping to award scholarships to Latino/a students and addressing issues of Hispanic under-representation in the public sector. Denise E. Wilfley, Ph.D. is Professor of Psychiatry, Medicine, Pediatrics, and Psychology at Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM) in St. Louis and Director of the Weight Management and Eating Disorders Program at WUSM. For the past decade, Dr. Wilfley's research program has focused on the causes, prevention, and treatment of eating disorders and obesity, as well as the interface of the eating disorders and obesity fields. She is a recipient of grants from the National Institutes of Health for her research, and has published over 100 original peer reviewed articles, book chapters, reviews and abstracts primarily in the area of eating and weight disorders. Dr. Wilfley currently serves on the editorial boards of the Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice, the International Journal of Eating Disorders, the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, and Obesity Research. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Eating Disorders Research Society, a Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED) and Conference Co-Chair for the 2003 AED meeting.

Dr. Christensen is Director of the South African office of the Academy for Educational Development, an independent, non-profit service organization committed to addressing human development needs throughout the world. He also consults internationally in education and training, with particular emphasis on instructional systems development, technology-enhanced learning, strategic planning, and monitoring and evaluation. Dr. Christensen holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Psychology from Harvard University and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Massachusetts. He has lived and worked in Africa since 1980, managing four multi-million rand, donor-funded educational development projects elsewhere on the continent prior to settling permanently in South Africa in 1996. During this time he directed schemes to develop radio lessons to teach primary English in Kenya (a system now being used by more than 500,000 South African children), help reform curriculum and teacher-training in Lesotho, and implement innovations such as continuous assessment, outcomes-based education and training for school heads in Swaziland and Namibia. Previously he worked in Ontario as the instructional systems designer for a vocational-technical tertiary institution, managed a modularization project at the University of Massachusetts, and designed educational programs for a Chicago-area NGO. He has lectured part-time at two universities and consulted extensively around the world with schools, universities, civil society organizations, private-sector companies, governments and donor agencies.

Dr. Clarke, associate professor and former chair of the Department of Marketing at Boston University's School of Management, is one of the leading experts in the field of health care marketing. She is the 1995 recipient of the American Marketing Association's prestigious Philip Kotler Award for Excellence in Healthcare Marketing. She received the 1985 Health Care Marketer of the Year Award from the American College of Health Care Marketing. She also was awarded the Broderick Prize for Excellence in Teaching from the Boston University School of Management. Currently she is conducting research on the effect of customer defection on health care cost and quality.
