Uli Hacksell, Ph.D. has served as our Chief Executive Officer since September 2000 and as a member of our board of directors since October 2000. From February 1999 to September 2000, he served as our Executive Vice President of Drug Discovery. From August 1991 to February 1999, Dr. Hacksell held various senior executive positions at Astra, a pharmaceutical company, including Vice President of Drug Discovery and Technology as well as President of Astra Draco, one of Astra's largest research and development subsidiaries, where he directed an organization of more than 1,100 employees. From August 1991 to May 1994, he served as Vice President of CNS Preclinical R&D at Astra Arcus, another subsidiary. Earlier in his career, Dr. Hacksell held the positions of Professor of Organic Chemistry and Department Chairman at Uppsala University in Sweden and also served as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry. Dr. Hacksell received a Master of Pharmacy and a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from Uppsala University.

David K. Bol, Ph.D. has served as Vice President of Pharmaceutical Development since April 2005. Dr. Bol joined Avalon in September 2002 as a Senior Scientific Director. Prior to joining Avalon, Dr. Bol worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb since 1996 and was Group Leader and Principal Scientist at Bristol-Myers Squibb since 2001. Prior to Bristol-Myers Squibb, Dr. Bol was a Faculty Research Associate in the Department of Carcinogenesis at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Bol holds a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from University of Maryland and a B.S. from The University of Rochester, New York. Alan G. Walton, Ph.D., D.Sc. is a co-founder of Avalon and has served as a member and Chairman of our board of directors since Avalon s inception in November 1999. Since 1987, Dr. Walton has been a general partner of Oxford Bioscience Partners, a venture capital firm investing in life sciences enterprises. Prior to joining Oxford Bioscience Partners, Dr. Walton was President and Chief Executive Officer of University Genetics Co. Dr. Walton serves on the board of directors of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc., Acadia Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Advanced Cell Technologies, Inc. He previously has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors or as a Director for numerous private and public biotechnology companies, including Human Genome Sciences and Gene Logic Inc. He was a professor at Case Western Reserve University and Harvard Medical College from 1961 to 1981 and a member of President Carter s Technology Transfer Committee from 1976 to 1977. Dr. Walton holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, a D.Sc. in Biological Chemistry and a B.S. in Chemistry, each from the University of Nottingham and in 2005 received a honorary LLD degree in recognition of his lifetime achievement in life sciences, also from the University of Nottingham.
Thomas H. Aasen, CPA has served as our Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Secretary and Treasurer since April 1998. Prior to joining us, Mr. Aasen held the position of Senior Director of Finance and Administration at Axys Pharmaceuticals, a publicly traded life sciences company formerly called Sequana Therapeutics, where he was employed from June 1996 to April 1998. Earlier in his career, Mr. Aasen held various financial management positions including Director of Finance at Genta, Inc. and Director of Accounting at Gen-Probe, Inc., both publicly traded life sciences companies, and Audit Manager at KPMG Peat Marwick. He has over 23 years of professional finance and accounting experience focused primarily on the life sciences industry. Mr. Aasen received a B.S. degree with honors from San Diego State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Prior to joining Pfizer, Dr. Mills held senior clinical management positions at Gilead, where he served as project leader in the development of Tamiflu , a leading treatment for influenza, and at Abbott Laboratories, where he played an important role in the development of antiviral drugs. Earlier in his career, he held several senior positions at the Wellcome Foundation, including Scientific Advisor for Group Marketing and Therapeutic Area Head, Cardiovascular Marketing. Dr. Mills received his medical degree at the Charing Cross Hospital Medical School in London and his specialized medical training at the Royal College of General Practitioners in London.

Brian Lundstrom has served as our Senior Vice President, Business Development since November 2004. Prior to joining us, Mr. Lundstrom held the position of Vice President, Business Development at Genzyme Corporation where he led the integration and outlicensing of assets from SangStat Medical Corporation that he had joined in 2000 and helped grow through partnering until sale of the company to Genzyme in 2003. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lundstrom held increasingly senior business, clinical and product development positions with discovery-based and commercially operating Oxford GlycoSciences (1998-2000), Novo Nordisk (1990-1997) and Immuntech (1986-1989). Mr. Lundstrom has negotiated over 40 deals on discovery technologies, clinical-stage product candidates and marketed products. He holds an M.S. in biotechnology from the Danish Technical University and an MBA equivalent degree in international business and finance from Copenhagen Business School and Seattle University.

John J. Kaiser has served as our Vice President, Strategic Marketing and Commercial Development, since February 2008. Prior to joining ACADIA, Mr. Kaiser held a variety of marketing and commercial management positions over a more than 25-year career at Eli Lilly. Mr. Kaiser served as Director, Neuroscience Strategy and New Product Planning where he was responsible for the development of Eli Lilly's global neuroscience commercial strategy. Previously, he held senior level positions in global commercial development, market research, and brand management. In these various roles, Mr. Kaiser was responsible for establishing the business and brand strategy for Cymbalta®, developing global market research in support of the successful launch of Zyprexa®, and managing the global Prozac® brand and associated marketing activities. Earlier in his career at Lilly, he served as Managing Director of Eli Lilly Netherlands, and held a variety of positions in pharmaceutical sales and sales management. Mr. Kaiser earned a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy.
Leslie Iversen (PhD) is Director of the Wolfson Centre for Research on Age-Related Diseases at Kings College London, Visiting Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, University of Oxford, and founder of the pharmaceutical company Panos Therapeutics Ltd. He was previously Director of the Neuroscience Research Centre set up by the international pharmaceutical company Merck & Co Inc in Harlow, Essex, UK (1983-1995) and Director of the UK Medical Research Council Neurochemical Pharmacology Unit in Cambridge, England (1970-1983). He is the author of several books and of more than 350 scientific publications and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of London and a Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Sciences, USA. He acted as the specialist adviser to the House of Lords Science & Technology Committee's enquiry into Cannabis, 1998 and his most recent books are "The Science of Marijuana", Oxford University Press, 2000 and "A Very Short Introduction to Drugs", Oxford University Press, 2001.

Allan I. Levey, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor of Neurology, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Pharmacology at Emory University. He is Director of the Neurobehavioral Program, the Emory Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases and the Emory Alzheimer's Disease Center Clinical Core. Dr. Levey has done extensive research in the molecular neurobiology of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases including human clinical trials. He has received numerous awards, including the Derek Denny-Brown Neurological Scholar Award from the American Neurological Association, Faculty Scholar Awards from the Alzheimer Association and the Heikkila Research Scholar Award from the National Parkinson Foundation.

Arvid Carlsson, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor Emeritus of Pharmacology at the University of Göteborg, Sweden, and is a member of the Swedish Academy of Sciences and a foreign affiliate of the United States National Academy of Sciences. He was awarded the 2000 Nobel Prize for medicine for studies on how brain cells transmit signals to each other, laying the groundwork for developing improved treatments for neurological and psychiatric disorders. Henry Bourne, M.D. has made significant contributions to the understanding of the signaling pathways used by G-protein coupled receptors. Dr. Bourne's research has focused on transmembrane signaling mediated by G-proteins. He is Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology and a Senior Staff Member of the Cardiovascular Research Institute at the University of California at San Francisco. Laura A. Brege joined Onyx in June 2006 as Executive Vice President & Chief Business Officer. In that role, she oversaw the expansion of key corporate capabilities and strengthened Onyx’s financial position by significantly adding to its cash reserves. She was promoted to her current position in October 2007 and is responsible for the sales and marketing, medical affairs, legal, and compliance functions. Before joining Onyx, Ms. Brege was a general partner at Red Rock Management, a venture capital firm. Prior to Red Rock, she was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at COR Therapeutics. Earlier in her career, Ms. Brege served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Flextronics and Vice President and Treasurer of The Cooper Companies. Ms. Brege earned her undergraduate degree from Ohio University and has an MBA from the University of Chicago. Ms. Brege serves on the boards of Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and The Ohio University Foundation.
Lester J. Kaplan, Ph.D. has served as a director of our company since November 1997. Dr. Kaplan was Executive Vice President and President, Research and Development at Allergan, Inc. from November 2003 to April 2004. Dr. Kaplan joined Allergan in 1983 and, prior to being appointed to Executive Vice President, was Corporate Vice President, Research and Development and Global BOTOX from June 1998 to November 2003. Dr. Kaplan was elected to Allergan's board of directors in 1994 and served in that capacity until April 2004. Dr. Kaplan is also a member of the board of Acucela Inc. and the National Neurovision Research Institute. Dr. Kaplan received a M.S. and Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles. Torsten Rasmussen has served as a director of our company since April 1998. Mr. Rasmussen has been President and CEO of Morgan Management ApS, a management advisory and consulting company, since 1997. Prior to founding Morgan Management ApS in 1997, Mr. Rasmussen held the position of Executive Vice President, Operations at the LEGO Group (LEGO A/S) in Denmark, since 1981. He currently serves as a board member in the capacity of chairman, deputy chairman or ordinary board member of a number of Danish companies of which the following are quoted on the Danish Stock Exchange: Coloplast A/S, Bang & Olufsen A/S, TK Development A/S, Vestas Wind Systems A/S and A/S Det Oestasiatiske Kompagni. Dr. Walton joined Oxford Partners as a General Partner in 1987. In 1991, he founded Oxford Bioscience Partners and he is currently Senior Partner and Chairman of Oxford Bioscience Corporation. Previously, he was President and CEO of University Genetics Co., a public biotechnology company involved in technology transfer and seed investments in university-related projects. Prior to University Genetics, he taught at several institutions including Harvard Medical School, Indiana University and Case Western Reserve where he was Professor of Macromolecular Science and Director of the Laboratory for Biological Macromolecules. Dr. Walton serves on the Boards of Alexandria Real Estate Equities and Advanced Cell Technology, and is Chairman, as well as a Board member, of Avalon Pharmaceuticals and Psychiatric Genomics. He is also on the Board of Research!America, a philanthropic organization. Dr. Walton was a founder of Human Genome Sciences and GeneLogic and is the Founding Chairman of the Biotechnology Venture Investors Group. Dr. Walton received a Ph.D. in chemistry and a D.Sc. in biological chemistry from Nottingham University in England and in 2005 received an honorary LLD degree for his lifetime achievement in life sciences form Nottingham University. Torsten Rasmussen has served as a director of our company since April 1998. Mr. Rasmussen has been President and CEO of Morgan Management ApS, a management advisory and consulting company, since 1997. Prior to founding Morgan Management ApS in 1997, Mr. Rasmussen held the position of Executive Vice President, Operations at the LEGO Group (LEGO A/S) in Denmark, since 1981. He currently serves as a board member in the capacity of chairman, deputy chairman or ordinary board member of a number of Danish companies of which the following are quoted on the Danish Stock Exchange: Coloplast A/S, Bang & Olufsen A/S, TK Development A/S, Vestas Wind Systems A/S and A/S Det Oestasiatiske Kompagni. Mr. Rasmussen holds an M.B.A. from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.
