Kenneth D. Lewis is chairman, chief executive officer and president of Bank of America.
Lewis leads one of the world's largest financial institutions. Bank of America serves more than 59 million customers through more than 6,100 retail banking offices, 18,000 ATMs and the #1 online banking and bill-pay service with more than 29 million active users. The company’s wealth management business is the largest in the world, with nearly 20,000 financial advisors managing more than $2 trillion in total client assets. The bank’s corporate and investment banking businesses serve business and institutional clients in 150 countries and have relationships with 100 percent of the U.S. Fortune 500 companies and 83 percent of the Global Fortune 500.
During Lewis’ tenure, Bank of America has attracted millions of new customers and expanded existing relationships through the creation of new financial products, services, delivery channels and technologies, and by improving customer satisfaction significantly across every major line of business. Through selective acquisitions, Lewis has garnered market leading positions and opportunities for future growth for the bank in important markets and sectors of the financial services industry, including the Northeast and Midwest U.S. banking markets, private banking, card services, home lending, wealth management and investment banking.
Under Lewis’ leadership, Bank of America announced new ten-year, nationwide goals for community development lending and investing ($1.5 trillion) and philanthropic giving ($2 billion), and a $20 billion Environmental Initiative aimed at investing in the companies and technologies that are helping to create environmental and economic sustainability around the world.
Lewis has been chief executive officer since 2001. He joined North Carolina National Bank (NCNB, predecessor to NationsBank and Bank of America) in 1969 as a credit analyst in Charlotte. After serving in a variety of leadership roles across the company, he was named chairman, chief executive officer and president of Bank of America in April of 2001.
Lewis was born in 1947 in Meridian, Mississippi. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Georgia State University, and is a graduate of the Executive Program at Stanford University.
Lewis is the only two-time winner of American Banker newspaper’s “Banker of the Year” award (2002, 2008). He was named in 2007 as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine. He is a member of the Financial Services Roundtable and the Financial Services Forum; the Fifth District’s representative on the Federal Advisory Council; past chairman of United Way of Central Carolinas, Inc.; a member of the Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy; a director of the Homeownership Education and Counseling Institute; vice chairman of the Corporate Fund Board of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; and past chairman of the National Urban League.

Barbara J. Desoer is president of Bank of America Mortgage, Home Equity & Insurance Services, the nation’s leading home loan originator and servicer. She is a member of the bank’s senior management team.
Desoer oversees a home loans business that accounts for about 20 percent of the U.S. mortgage origination market, with a $2 trillion servicing portfolio serving nearly 14 million customers. She also manages the bank’s home equity business and oversees an insurance services organization that is the world’s largest provider of loan protection products. Desoer’s organization includes the capabilities Bank of America obtained with its acquisition of Countrywide on July 1, 2008.
Prior to this role, Desoer served as chief technology and operations officer, overseeing the bank's global technology platforms and operations capabilities. She also oversaw Corporate Workplace, Service and Fulfillment Operations, Information Protection and Business Continuity, Quality & Productivity and Enterprise Transition activities.
Desoer joined the bank in 1977. She held leadership roles in Commercial Lending, Credit Administration and Retail Banking before being named group executive vice president with responsibilities for the California Retail Banking Group in 1996. In 1998 she was promoted to president of Northern California banking. Desoer was marketing executive from 1999 to 2001, when she was named Consumer Products executive. She was named chief technology and operations officer in 2005 and assumed her current role in 2008.
Desoer received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Mount Holyoke College and a master's degree in business administration from the University of California at Berkeley.
In 2008, Desoer was recognized by US Banker, ranking second in their annual ranking of the "25 Most Powerful Women in Banking.” She was also recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” and ranked third on the Wall Street Journal’s “50 Women to Watch.” In 2007, she was named “Business Leader of the Year” by the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley.
She serves on the board of trustees at Mount Holyoke College and the advisory council of the Haas School of Business at the University of California.

Ric Struthers is president of Bank of America Global Card Services and is a member of the corporation’s senior management team.
In his current role, Struthers oversees the largest credit card portfolio in the United States and Europe serving more than 70 million customers. He is also leads the company’s unsecured lending and international card businesses. In total, he is responsible for nearly $230 billion in managed loans with an emphasis on delivering financial solutions to our customers, product and marketing innovation as well as opportunities for global expansion.
Struthers joined the company in January 2006 after serving as Executive Vice Chairman of the MBNA America Bank. Struthers was a founding member of the management team that established MBNA in 1982 and has more than 31 years of management experience in consumer lending. A graduate of Penn State University and the Retail School of Banking at the University of Virginia, Struthers began his financial services career in 1978 at Maryland National Bank, where he was a manager in the Consumer Banking Division.
Struthers also serves as the Bank of America Delaware Market President and is a board member of the Bank of America Foundation. He is also a member of the Global Diversity and Inclusion Council and an Executive Sponsor of the Hispanic/Latino Organization for Leadership and Advancement (HOLA).
Active in civic affairs, he is a member of the board of directors of Emmaus House, an organization that provides shelter to the homeless and a board member at the Second Mile, an organization focused on prevention, early intervention, and community-based programs for at-risk children. In addition, Struthers serves as the Chairman of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. He is a past chair of the Smeal Business School Board of Visitors at Penn State and a member of the National Council on Penn State Philanthropy.

Thomas K. Montag is president of Global Markets at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. In this role, Montag is responsible for the companies’ debt and equity sales, trading, research and capital markets activities worldwide. He is based in New York and is a member of the bank’s senior management team.
Montag has extensive industry knowledge, with over two decades of experience in financial markets throughout the world. He joined Merrill Lynch as executive vice president and head of global sales and trading in 2008, prior to the company’s merger with Bank of America.
Before that, Montag was with Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., where he was co-head of the global securities business and a member of the company’s Management Committee and Equities/FICC Executive Committee.

Anne Finucane is Bank of America Chief Marketing Officer and a member of the bank’s senior management team.
Finucane leads marketing, communications, advertising, and research for the enterprise and all lines of business. She is also responsible for the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives which include: philanthropic giving through the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, one of the largest corporate philanthropic organizations in the world, delivering $200 million in charitable funding to local neighborhoods across the United States and Europe in 2008; community development investment and lending; volunteerism; arts and culture investment; and the company’s $20 billion environmental initiative, as chair of the Bank of America Environmental Council.

A veteran marketing and communications executive with more than two decades of experience, Finucane joined Bank of America predecessor FleetBoston Financial in 1995. While at Fleet, she served as chief marketing officer. She was a member of Fleet’s executive management committee, chairperson of FleetBoston Financial Charitable Foundation, and a Board member of Fleet Credit Card Services.

J. Steele Alphin is chief administrative officer for Bank of America and a member of the bank’s senior management team. Alphin is responsible for the company’s Global Human Resources, Global Marketing & Corporate Affairs and Corporate Aviation functions.
Alphin joined the bank in 1977 in Chapel Hill, N.C., working in Consumer Banking. He moved to Charlotte in 1980 as a compensation analyst and, in 1984, to Tampa to become Regional Personnel manager. He was named Personnel director of the Florida bank in 1985.
Alphin returned to Charlotte in 1988 as Corporate Personnel division executive for the Eastern bank, with Personnel responsibilities for the General Bank, Institutional Bank, Credit Policy and Recruiting. He moved to Atlanta in 1992 as Corporate Personnel division executive supporting the General Bank, Asset Management Group and Financial Products. He added responsibility for Global Marketing in 2006.
A native of Windsor, Va., Alphin earned his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of the board of trustees for Thompson Child & Family Focus. He formerly served on the boards of the Bank Administration Institute, INROADS in Atlanta and Providence Day School in Charlotte and on the Board of Visitors for the University of North Carolina (Class of 2006).

Joe Price is Chief Financial Officer for Bank of America and a member of the bank’s Management Operating Committee. As CFO, he has responsibility for Finance, Corporate Treasury, Corporate Investments and Investor Relations.

Dr. Walter E. Massey is president emeritus of Morehouse College, the nation's largest private four-year liberal arts college for men. Dr. Massey held the position of president from 1995-2007, leading the College during its historic A Campaign for a New Century, its most successful capital campaign to date. Dr. Massey is also a former director of the National Science Foundation, a position to which he was appointed by former President George H.W. Bush. The Foundation is the government's lead agency for support of research and education in mathematics, science and engineering. Massey also served as vice president for research and professor of physics at the University of Chicago, as director of the Argonne National Laboratory, dean of the College and professor of physics at Brown University and as assistant professor of physics at the University of Illinois. He is a Fellow and past president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Fellow and past vice president of the American Physical Society, and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Philosophical Society and the Council on Foreign Relations. Immediately prior to Morehouse, Massey was provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the University of California. In this position, the second most senior position in the UC system, he was responsible for academic and research planning and policy, budget planning and allocations for the nine campuses of the system, and programmatic oversight of the three national laboratories the University manages for the Department of Energy: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. After earning a bachelor of science in physics and mathematics in 1958 from Morehouse, Massey received his master's and doctorate in physics in 1966 from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Massey's research has involved the study of quantum liquids and solids. His written work has also addressed science and math education, the role of science in a democratic society, and university-industry interactions and technology transfer in national and international settings. Active with a range of organizations, Massey is currently chairman of the Salzburg Global Seminar and past chair of the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board (SEAB) and is serving his second term as a member of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), having also served on PCAST under the first President Bush. The recipient of more than 30 honorary degrees from institutions such as Yale University, Northwestern University, Amherst and the Ohio State University, Massey's leadership in education includes his service as a member of the Gates Millennium Scholars Advisory Council and the National Commission on Mathematics and Science Teaching for the 21st Century, member of the board of the University of Chicago Project GRAD Atlanta and chairman of the Atlanta Committee for Public Education. Active, also, in civic and cultural affairs, he is a member of the board of the National Opinion Research Center, the Museum of Science and Industry, Atlanta Committee for Progress, the board of the Woodruff Arts Center and founding chairman of Great Schools Atlanta. In addition, Massey is on several corporate and foundation boards, including the Mellon Foundation, Bank of America Corporation, Delta Air Lines, Inc. McDonald's Corporation, and BP p.l.c. and is a former director of several other corporations, including Motorola Inc. and the First National Bank of Chicago. Born in Hattiesburg, MS, he and his wife Shirley Anne have two sons and three grandchildren.
