Armando Anido has served as one of our directors since July 2006 and Chief Executive Officer and President since July 2006. Since August 2003, Mr. Anido has served as a director of Adolor Corporation and currently serves as Chairman of the Governance and Nominating Committee. Mr. Anido has over 25 years of biopharmaceutical experience. Prior to Auxilium, he was the Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing for MedImmune, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on developing and marketing products in the therapeutic areas of cancer, infectious disease and immune regulation, where he was responsible for worldwide commercialization of their portfolio. He also served on MedImmune s Executive Committee and Product Development Committee. Prior to joining MedImmune in 1999, from 1995 to 1999, Mr. Anido was with GlaxoWellcome, Inc. where he served as Vice President, Central Nervous System Marketing after joining the company as Director, HIV Marketing. Mr. Anido was employed by Lederle Labs from 1989 to 1995 in various commercial roles, culminating as Vice President, Anti-infectives. Mr. Anido received his B.S. in Pharmacy and his M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from West Virginia University.

Dr. Frank Malinoski is MedImmune's senior vice president, medical and scientific affairs. In this role, he oversees medical and scientific activities relating to marketed products, including clinical trials and medical information. Dr. Malinoski joined MedImmune as vice president, infectious disease, medical affairs in December 2005, with responsibility for MedImmune's infectious disease and vaccines group within medical affairs. Prior to joining MedImmune, Dr. Malinoski was president of TD Consultancy, a consulting practice advising industry and government clients on vaccine development issues. Previously, he worked at Oxxon Therapeutics, Inc. as chief medical officer and executive vice president of development, and at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, where he held positions of increasing responsibility including: vice president, global business development; vice president, medical affairs; and assistant vice president, clinical affairs. Dr. Malinoski earned his Ph.D. in microbiology from Rutgers University and his M.D. from Albany Medical College. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Colby College in Waterville, Maine.

Dr. Benes described the work of the final speaker, Christopher A. Walsh, M.D., Ph.D., as an appropriate follow-up to Dr. Kuperberg's: he is mapping the genes involved in the development of the cerebral cortex to try to understand the disruptions that underlie developmental brain disorders. Dr. Walsh is chief of the division of genetics at Children's Hospital, Boston, chief of neurogenetics in the department of neurology at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Bullard Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, and director of its combined M.D.-Ph.D. program. His work has garnered widespread recognition, including a NARSAD Independent Investigator Award in 1998. Dr. Walsh began by stressing that disorders related to malfunction of the cerebral cortex, such as mental retardation, learning disorders, epilepsy, autism and schizophrenia, are all more or less genetically based and extremely complex. To get a handle on the problem, he and his colleagues started by studying simpler abnormalities of the cortex related to size or gray-matter folding, working mostly with patients in the Middle East, where populations tend to be more isolated, marriage between relatives is common and families large, thus providing a large and relatively homogeneous genetic pool. Through this research, Dr. Walsh stated, his team has identified many previously unknown syndromes and defined a number of them genetically. The findings from this research eventually led Dr. Walsh to contemplate the more complex challenge of autism. While twin studies and other evidence point to autism as a highly genetic disorder, Dr. Walsh explained that it has been very difficult to correlate its clinical symptoms with specific genes. Many genes are thought to be involved and different families with autistic members tend to show different genetic profiles. There are known chromosomal defects associated with the disorder, and probably complex multigenic interactions, none of which, he said, has been defined.

Gregory LaRosa, Ph.D. has served as our Vice President, Research since December 2004 and as our Senior Director, Drug Discovery from April 2003 to December 2004. From December 1999 to April 2003, Dr. LaRosa served as Senior Director of Immunopharmacology at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a pharmaceutical company. From September 1994 to December 1999, Dr. LaRosa served in a variety of research positions, including Senior Director of Receptor Pharmacology, for LeukoSite, Inc., a biotechnology company. From 1988 to September 1994, Dr. LaRosa held several research posts at Repligen, Corp., a biotechnology company. Dr. LaRosa holds a B.A. in Genetics and Development from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from Harvard University.

Robert H. Zeiger has served as a member of our board of directors since October 2004. He served as lead independent director from February 2005 to June 2006 and as Executive Chairman of the Company and Chairman of the Board from June 2006 to October 2006. From October 2000 to the present, Mr. Zeiger has served as a marketing consultant for a number of privately-held pharmaceutical companies. From May 1995 to October 2000, Mr. Zeiger served in a variety of roles for Viragen, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, including Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer from May 1995 to September 1998 and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors from October 1998 to October 2000. From 1985 to 1994, Mr. Zeiger served in a variety of roles for Glaxo, Inc., a pharmaceutical company, including Vice President and General Manager of Glaxo Dermatology, Allen & Hanbury and Glaxo Pharmaceuticals. From 1979 to 1985, Mr. Zeiger served as Vice President of Marketing and Sales with Stiefel Laboratories, an international dermatology company. From 1971 to 1979, Mr. Zeiger served as National Sales Manager for Knoll Pharmaceutical, a pharmaceutical company. Mr. Zeiger holds a B.S. in marketing from Loyola University.

Scott B. Townsend, Esq. has served as our General Counsel, Executive Vice President of Legal Affairs and Secretary since our merger with Cornerstone BioPharma. Before the merger, Mr. Townsend served as our Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs from March 2007 to October 2008, as our General Counsel from June 2006 to October 2008 and as our Secretary from September 2004 to October 2008. Mr. Townsend served as our Vice President of Legal Affairs from August 2004 to March 2007. From August 2000 to August 2004, Mr. Townsend was employed by the law firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP (formerly known as Hale and Dorr LLP) as a junior partner from May 2002 to August 2004 and as an associate from August 2000 to May 2002. Mr. Townsend was an associate with the law firm Kilpatrick Stockton LLP in Charlotte, North Carolina, from July 1999 to July 2000 and an associate with the law firm Goodwin Procter LLP in Boston, Massachusetts, from September 1997 to July 1999. Mr. Townsend holds an A.B. in Economics and Government from Bowdoin College and a J.D. from The University of Virginia School of Law.

Dr. David Baltimore has served as a director of the Company since June 1999. He is currently President Emeritus of and Robert Andrews Millikan Professor of Biology at the California Institute of Technology, or Caltech. From October 1997 to September 2006, Dr. Baltimore was the President of Caltech. From July 1995 to October 1997, Dr. Baltimore was an Institute Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT, and from July 1994 to October 1997, the Ivan R. Cottrell Professor of Molecular Biology and Immunology at MIT. Dr. Baltimore is a director of BB Biotech, AG, a Swiss investment company. In 1975, Dr. Baltimore was the co-recipient of the Nobel Prize in Medicine.
