Jim Clishem is President and CEO of Active Power and a proven technology executive with expertise in the data center, managed services, telecommunications, software and computer systems industries. Prior to leading Active Power, Jim was VP Business Development for Peregrine Systems and was CEO and founder of Xodiax, a managed IT services business recognized by Inc Magazine as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S. He also served as Vice President of Data Services for Broadwing Communications and held various senior roles at MCI, Ericsson, and Tandem Computers. Jim is a U.S. patent recipient and holds degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Louisville (BSEE, MSEE) and an executive MBA from Southern Methodist University.

John Penver is Chief Financial Officer and Vice President Finance, responsible for overall financial operations and management at Active Power. With more than 24 years of financial management experience gained in international, manufacturing and technology environments he previously served as CFO for companies including PerformanceRetail, Inc., Factory Logic, Inc. and Yclip Corporation. John also served as Vice President of Finance at publicly-traded Silicon Gaming, Inc., a manufacturer of high-tech slot machines, after 14 years with Deloitte & Touche, LLP, one of the world’s largest public accounting firms, in Australia and the U.S. John is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) degree from Monash University in Australia and an MBA from Santa Clara University in California.

An electrical engineer by trade, Uwe Schrader-Hausmann serves as chief technical officer, overseeing the company’s technical innovation efforts in the areas of research and development, engineering and technical service and support functions on a global scale. In addition to this role, he will continue to serve as managing director of Active Power (Germany) GmbH. A holder of one U.S. patent and two international patents, Uwe has more than 28 years experience in the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) market. He most recently served as vice president, Technical Services for Active Power. Prior to this, Uwe was technical director for the company’s EMEA territory (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Prior to joining Active Power, Uwe worked in various positions at Piller Power Systems GmbH, serving as chief technology officer and quality manager. Uwe earned his Diplom-Ingenieur (German equivalent of a master’s of Science) from The University of Applied Science in Hanover, Germany.

Gary Rackow is Vice President of Sales for the Americas. He is responsible for managing Active Power’s multi-channel sales strategy to drive sales growth and market penetration in North America and Latin America. He has been a registered Professional Engineer for more than 20 years and is a member of IEEE Industry Application Society (IAS). Prior to joining Active Power in 2006 Gary worked for Piller, Inc., where he held positions such as Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Director Sales & Service, and Vice President Systems Development. He also worked for General Electric for ten years as a product and application engineer for power distribution equipment, motor drives, Uninterruptible Power Systems, and process control. Gary is a registered P.E. in the state of Georgia, and earned a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn.

Ian leads the European, Middle East, and African sales initiatives and makes Active Power a leading power quality product and service provider in these significant international markets. Ian comes from Emerson as its Managing Director for the UK. Ian is an experienced executive leader with strong sales and financial management skills. Prior to Emerson, Ian held roles as Sales Director and Chief Technology Officer at ICW Power and also as Sales Director of UK Sales for Anton Piller. Ian, a Chartered Engineer, has a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours, Technology & Design and a Diploma in Design & Innovation, Open University together with an HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

Jason Rubin is Vice President of Manufacturing with responsibility for the manufacture and test of all Active Power products. He also manages the materials and logistics supporting those products. Jason has 15 years of manufacturing experience ranging from tire production to textiles. Prior to joining Active Power in 2000, he was involved in managing operations, introducing new products and improving manufacturing systems for Windsport Inc in Austin. Jason graduated with a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Oklahoma at Norman.

Jim Murphy is Vice President of Sales for the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions. He is responsible for managing Active Power’s customer relationships and sales growth in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Japan, Korea and southeast Asia. A 20-year power industry veteran, Jim previously held technical sales leadership roles for several international divisions of RWE Piller GmbH, part of the RWE Group of companies and Europe’s largest multi-utility. His responsibilities included marketing and sales P&L, high-value solution selling to a global client base, and facilitating post-sale customer support. Jim implemented a team selling approach that enabled improved focus on customer specifications and was instrumental in kick-starting sales of new products in Europe. Jim holds a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Liverpool University and is a member of the Institute of Electrical Incorporated Engineers.

Karl Shuetze is Vice President of Engineering. He leads the team of engineers and developers responsible for the design and implementation of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems for Active Power. Karl has 15 years of engineering industry expertise, with the last seven years at Active Power as lead development engineer and manager of the Mechanical Systems Group. Prior to joining Active Power, he held engineering and project lead roles at a variety of companies including Advanced System Integration, Inc., McDonnell Douglas Corp., and General Dynamics, Corp. He also served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. Karl earned his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington and Virginia Tech respectively.

Lisa Brown leads Active Power's marketing, sales operations and customer service units with responsibility for integrated marketing plans, product management, marketing communications, public relations and field service functions. Prior to joining Active Power, Lisa spent 14 years with Broadwing Communications where she held executive positions including Vice President of Marketing, Sales Operations, and Customer Operations. She also ran the company’s General Business Markets Division responsible for over 100,000 customers and $110 million of annual revenue. Lisa earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania.

Rodney S. Bond has served as a member of our Board of Directors since September 1994. From October 2000 to the present, Mr. Bond has served as a principal engaged in financial and strategic planning consulting at Sherman Partners and has also been the Chief Financial Officer for Up Link Corporation, a privately held supplier of GPS business solutions for the golf industry. From May 1990 to October 2000, Mr. Bond served in various capacities, including as Chief Strategic Officer and Chief Financial Officer, with VTEL Corporation, a publicly traded digital video communications company. Mr. Bond holds a B.S. in metallurgical engineering from the University of Illinois and a M.B.A. from Northwestern University.

Dick Anderson oversees day to day operations on the landlord side of Hill Partners Inc. Those tasks range from development to acquisitions and sales, leasing, and putting together private equity deals. Though he may be tackling several issues at any given time, Dick is known for attention to details and for understanding how those details relate to larger objectives. Robert Douglass, president of Austin-based First American Flood Data Services, has this to say about Dick Anderson: "He understands our business, he understands our business needs, and he's consistently located space that is just perfect for our business needs at the time." Dick joined the Trammell Crow Co.'s Austin office immediately upon graduation from Southern Methodist University in 1987, and within a year had progressed from an internship to marketing representative. Crow promoted Dick to marketing director of its industrial division in January 1992.

James E. deVenny III has served as a member of our board of directors since March 2008. From 1999 until March 2008, Mr. deVenny served as the co-founder, president and chief executive officer of Dataside LLC, a Texas-based provider of enterprise data center space and managed network services. Mr. deVenny is now an independent consultant though his business JD Investments. Prior to founding Dataside, Mr. deVenny co-founded Computex Support Systems where he was involved in the design and development of mission critical data centers and telecommunications sites for 15 years. Prior to this, he spent five years as vice president of Sales and Marketing for International Power Machines, a manufacturer of uninterruptible power supply systems. Mr. deVenny also serves on the boards of Lumenate, a private technology consulting services company. He holds a bachelor’s of science in Journalism and Communications from the University of Florida.

Mr. Lindelow is an active board member of several promising enterprises, primarily in the high technology industry. Recently retired from IBM, Lindelow has extensive experience managing global multi-billion dollar businesses as well as smaller, entrepreneurial companies. He focuses on strategic business positioning while strengthening technology and operational capabilities. Mr. Lindelow joined IBM/Tivoli in June 1997 and served as Chairman and CEO of Tivoli Systems Inc. until Spring of 2001. He then became Vice President, Emerging Business Development for IBM Corporation until his retirement at the end of June 2002. Prior to joining IBM/Tivoli, he was President and COO of Symbol Technologies. He also served in several senior executive positions with Asea Brown Boveri (ABB). At Unisys/Sperry Computer Systems, Lindelow was President of Worldwide Sales and Services, and he spearheaded the company's entry into UNIX and other open markets in the mid-80's. He joined Sperry in his native Sweden where he subsequently became President of Sperry's Nordic Group in 1980 before moving with his family to the US in 1982. Mr. Lindelow has an MS in Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He lives in Austin, Texas and serves on the board of directors of public companies Active Power, Inc. (Nasdaq: ACPW) and Vignette Corporation (Nasdaq: VIGN); privately held Credant Technologies, Inc., Hire.com, Inc. and HyPerformix, Inc. as well as the board of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce. Lindelow is also active in the Austin community and serves on the boards of the Austin Idea Network, the Austin Area Research Organization (AARO), the Children's Hospital Foundation of Austin, the local public television station (KLRU), the International Partnership of Greater Austin (IPGA) and the Engineering Foundation Advisory Council (EFAC) at the University of Texas at Austin.

Robert Greenberg has served as a member of our Board of Directors since March 2009. Since January 2009, Mr. Greenberg has been the Chief Information Officer and Vice President for Agco Corporation, a global manufacturer and distributor of agricultural equipment. Prior to joining Agco Corporation, Mr. Greenberg was Vice President and Chief Information Officer for 5 years with Nissan Americas, the US subsidiary of Nissan Motor Ltd, a global automotive manufacturer. Mr Greenberg also served in executive and CIO capacities over 20 years with Avaya, Inc., a global enterprise communications provider, Dell Computer, Inc and Exxon Mobil, including time spent in Asia Pacific. Mr. Greenberg holds both a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Engineering degrees in Operations Science and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Maryland.
