Pete Cittadini has 20 years of executive and management experience in the relational database and software industry, and joined Actuate in 1995. Prior to Actuate, Pete spent three years at Interleaf, Inc., most recently as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations, where he was responsible for worldwide sales, marketing, customer support and services for this $120M company. At Interleaf, Pete successfully redirected the corporation to focus on the lucrative integrated document management market. Prior to Interleaf, Pete spent six years at Oracle Corp, where he was Vice President, Northeast Division, and led Oracle's most successful sales operation. Pete has also held sales management and technical positions at Applied Data Research, CSC Infonet and MacMillan, Inc. Pete has a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Boston College.

Tom Ryan has over 20 years of experience in the high technology sector in both established multi-billion dollar corporations as well as venture capital backed startups. Tom joined Actuate in August of 1997 as Director of Customer Support and was promoted to CIO and Senior Vice President of Customer Services in January 2002. Prior to joining Actuate, Tom held senior management positions at Informix, Illustra, Oracle and Amdahl in several business disciplines such as Software Development, Education, Business Development and Customer Services. Tom is on the Advisory Board for AppMail, a software and services company and for the San Mateo County Community College District Computer Science Division. Mr. Ryan holds a BS Degree in Computer Science from San Francisco State University and an MBA in International Business from the Notre Dame de Namur University.

Ilene Vogt has been active in the sale of hardware and software to the computing industry for almost 20 years. As senior vice president of Worldwide Operations, Ilene is responsible for direct corporate sales and consulting and educational services around the globe. Ilene joined Actuate in 1995. Before arriving at Actuate, Ilene was Southern California-area sales manager at Interleaf, Inc. and sales director of the Western region for Interface Group. Ilene earned a Bachelor of Sciences degree from Ithaca College.

Coggins is Actuate's representative on the Eclipse Foundation board. He brings over 20 years of software development and product management experience to Actuate. Most recently, he was a vice president of engineering at VeriSign, where he was responsible for VeriSign's core Public Key Infrastructure platform and associated applications. Prior to that, he was founding vice president of engineering of a start-up in the customer relationship marketing (CRM) space, later assuming responsibility for all product management and marketing activities as vice president of products. Mr. Coggins also served as vice president of development and product marketing at Interactive Development Environments (IDE) where he brought seven major products to market, garnering three product-of-the-year awards in the process. He has held other positions in engineering and marketing management at software firms including Netscape Communications and Hewlett-Packard Company. He has earned two degrees and a Phi Beta Kappa Key from Stanford University and is the author of three mystery novels set in the Silicon Valley.

Mr. Akiha brings over 25 years of experience in high technology and consumer packaged goods marketing to Actuate Corporation. He joined Actuate in 2000 as vice president of Marketing. Prior to joining Actuate, he was vice president, Marketing and Business Development at Inference Corporation. Mr. Akiha also served as senior consultant at Regis McKenna, Inc., Director of Marketing Communications for CASE vendor Interactive Development Environments (IDE) and Group Product manager at Oracle Corporation. Mr. Akiha started his marketing career consulting to consumer packaged goods companies at Management Decision Systems and Burke Marketing Research. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of British Columbia and an M. Science in Management from the Sloan School of Management at M.I.T.

Robinson brings 15 years of valuable multi-channel sales and management expertise in the Business Intelligence market to Actuate. He was most recently vice president of North American sales at Business Objects, where he was responsible for building and developing the North American direct and indirect sales organization. The North American division increased revenue several-fold between 1998 and 2002 under Robinson’s leadership. Prior to his tenure at Business Objects, Mr. Robinson held various sales and management positions at Cognos, Group 1 Software and Triad Systems.

Armstrong brings nearly two decades of field operations experience to Actuate, most recently serving as vice president of worldwide sales at HyperRoll and vice president and managing director at PeopleSoft. During his tenure at PeopleSoft, he successfully rebuilt the company’s western regional management, sales and customer service organizations, significantly improving the company’s financial and operational performance. Prior to PeopleSoft, Armstrong was vice president of worldwide sales for One Touch Systems, where he was responsible for growing revenue five-fold in 2 years. Armstrong has also held positions at IBM, Openvision Technologies and Oracle.

Before joining Actuate Mr. Bow was the group director of Global Alliances at Informatica, responsible for the company’s indirect sales channel worldwide. Prior to Informatica, Mr. Bow spent five years at Oracle in the Global Alliances group. Prior to that, Mr. Bow held various sales and sales management roles at Tandem, Digital Equipment and Datapoint. Mr. Bow holds a Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Maxwell brings almost 20 years of valuable international sales, operational and financial management experience in the enterprise software market to Actuate. He was most recently executive vice president and general manager at Sagent for their Americas and Asia Pacific regions, where he was responsible for increasing Sagent’s market share and contribution margins for non-US geographies, including establishing a 40% market share in Japan. Prior to his tenure at Sagent, Maxwell held various international sales and management positions at Autodesk, Borland, Reportsmith and KPMG.

Philip Strauss comes to Actuate with over a decade of diverse legal experience, primarily in the software space. Strauss joins Actuate from Adobe Systems, where he handled strategic licensing, M&A and employment matters. Before Adobe, he was Vice President and General Counsel at Brio Software and Senior Counsel at Hyperion Solutions. Strauss has also served as a corporate associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York and as a litigation associate at Jones Day in Chicago. Philip holds a B.A. in International Relations from Emory University, a J.D. from Duke University, and is completing an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently the President of the 1,000-member San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel-America (ACC-A) and has chaired several ACC-A committees at the national and local levels.

Prior to joining Actuate in May 2006, Tom worked at Sun Microsystems where he counseled the company on intellectual property and strategic matters. Prior to Sun, Tom was associated with several prominent Bay Area law firms including Wilson Sonsini, Bay Venture Counsel and Heller Ehrman where he gained securities, general corporate, litigation and licensing experience. He has been a panelist for the Practicing Law Institute program "Preparation of Annual Disclosure Documents." Tom also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Lawrence T. Lydick, United States District Court for the Central District of California (Santa Ana). He received his J.D. from Stanford Law School and his A.B. from U.C. Berkeley.

Bill Garvey has over 10 years of legal experience in various high tech industries. Bill joined Actuate in 1994 as the company's first General Counsel and has served as General Counsel and Vice President, Corporate Development since 2002. Prior to joining Actuate, Bill was an associate at the law firm of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison where he represented a number of private and public high tech companies and completed numerous mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and venture capital transactions. Earlier in his career, he was an aviation officer in the United States Army. Bill holds a B.S. in Applied Science and Engineering from the United States Military Academy and a J.D. from Stanford Law School.

Mr. Bell joined Actuate earlier this year and has almost 20 years of success in selling strategic and tactical enterprise software products and services engagements. Prior to Actuate, Mr. Bell spent three years at Business Objects where he served in several key functions. As Director of Channel Sales for North America he successfully attracted incremental new business and managed over a hundred partners. Prior to Business Objects, Mr. Bell held channel management, sales and business development roles at several other companies including Cysive and Computer Associates. Mr. Bell holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University.

Mr. Guth has built a 25-year career bringing new technologies to market for the developer market including development methodologies, structured techniques, development tools, development environments and web application servers. Rich has held senior product management, marketing and sales positions at NeXT Software, Apple, Sybase, Interactive Development Environments and Index Technologies. As the VP of Marketing at Sendmail, Inc., one of the first companies to offer commercial value-add products for successful open source projects, Rich was among the first executives learning to develop relationships with and offer value to the open source developer community, including launching one of the first commercial open source developer sites.

Steve Whiteman has served as a director of the Company since May 1997. Mr. Whiteman currently serves as the President and CEO of Intesource, an Internet-based procurement service specifically for the food industry. From June 2000 to October 2000, Mr. Whiteman served as acting chief executive officer and acting chief financial officer of Unify. Previously, Mr. Whiteman served at different times as president, chief executive officer and director, and chairman of the board of directors of Viasoft, Inc. ("Viasoft"), a publicly traded software products and services company. Mr. Whiteman is also a director of Intesource, Actuate Corporation, and Netpro.

Mr. Hara has been active in venture capital and high technology American/Japanese alliances since 1984. He is known as a leading edge venture capitalist and visionary leader in information technology in Japan and the Pacific Rim region. Mr. Hara is responsible for helping portfolio companies build international business alliances that aim to generate substantial revenue growth, particularly in Japan and Asia. Mr. Hara has managed his venture capital funds (DEFTA VENTURE FUNDS) for the US, UK and Israeli startups mainly in the areas of software, telecommunications and Internet, where more than half of his portfolio companies have already gone through exit strategies such as IPO. In September, CyberGold (Internet micropayment engine), one of his companies went public (IPO) on NASDAQ. He has served as Chairman of Borland Co. Ltd., and has been a board member and major investor of many successful ventures such as Picturetel (the largest video conference system manufacturer), ZORAN (one of the most successful Israeli ventures), OREN Semiconductor and TRADEX (eCommerce). Today ZORAN, a portfolio company, is the largest provider of DVD chips, with more than 50% of world market shares and Mr. Hara played a key role in assisting this company in establishing the requisite relationships with Japanese consumer electronics companies. Currently, he is helping OREN SEMICONDUCTOR, an Israeli/US venture, to establish a world standard position for digital TV multi-standard DSP for terrestrial, satellite, and cable digital TV. TRADEX is the leader in digital eCommerce Platforms, with key Asian client relationships such as Nippon Telegraph & Telecom. TRADEX was merged with ARIBA in December 1999 at a valuation of 1.86 billion dollars (current valuation exceeds 2.2 billion dollars). In addition to the previously mentioned companies, Mr. Hara serves on the board of directors of Pixera (digital camera), Actuate Co. Ltd. (XML report writer) and Chemtrix, which was founded by Physics Nobel Laureate Mel Schwartz. Mr. Hara has a broad background in investment management and corporate development. In 1990, Mr. Hara became a General Partner with Accel Partners at Accel Japan, where he developed many successful strategic alliances such as PictureTel/NTT, First Virtual/NTT, Wollongong/NTT Data, and Borland/RIOS. Prior to Accel, Mr. Hara co-founded Japan Incubation Capital with Masayoshi Son of Softbank, Japan's first independent venture capital firm in 1985. DEFTA and Accel Japan portfolio companies include Accelerated Networks, Agile, Argomed (Israel), Artisan (UK), ASSA (Israel), Books That Work, Breaker Technology (UK), CoroNet, CyberGold, Cycolor (Japan), Digident (Israel), Environmental Learning Laboratories (Japan), Farallon, Illustra, Internet Dynamics, Intraspect, Microcosm (UK), Oren Semiconductor (Israel), Pixera, Polycom, Quickturn, Santa Cruz Operation, TRADEX (merged with ARIBA in December 1999), Ultra Guide (Israel), VIVO Software, Yacmail.com (UK) and Zoran. In the public sector, Mr. Hara was appointed advisor to the Governor of Osaka in 1986/87, where he helped develop plans for Japan's first business park specially designed to help foreign companies launch operations in Japan. He is currently policy advisor to the Governor of Gifu Prefecture. He is also Chairman of the Alliance Forum Foundation, an organization that helps build US/APEC high tech industry alliances. In San Francisco, Mr. Hara has served on the boards of the San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Zoo, and the Business School of the University of San Francisco. He is currently Vice Chairman of the San Francisco-Osaka Sister City Committee, and serves on the board of directors of the Japan Society of Northern California and the Hara Research Foundation (a fellowship foundation established under the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications). He is an advisory committee member of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and Keizai Doyukai (Committee for Economic Development)...

Kenneth E. Marshall has been a director of Actuate since January 2001. Mr. Marshall is Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Extraprise, Inc., an international provider of integrated customer relationship management solutions, which he founded in April 1997. From November 1995 to November 1996, Mr. Marshall served as President and COO of Giga Information Group, an information technology advisory company. From January 1990 to June 1995, Mr. Marshall served as President and CEO of Object Design, Inc., an object-oriented database company. From March 1985 to December 1989, Mr. Marshall worked for Oracle Corporation, where he served as an Oracle group Vice President and was the founder of Oracle’s consulting services business. Mr. Marshall currently serves as a director of privately held companies Current Analysis and Grassy Brook.

Nico Nierenberg has been a software entrepreneur and innovator for over 20 years. He founded Actuate in 1993 and served as CEO until August 2000. As Chairman of the Board and Chief Architect, Nico continues to guide Actuate’s technology direction. Nico is also a Venture Consultant with Accel Partners and serves on the Board of another software company, AwarePoint Corporation. Prior to Actuate, Nico co-founded Unify Corp. and was Systems Software Chief for Rogers, Kirkham and Associates. Nico started his career as a systems programmer and applications developer at SAIC. Nico attended the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of California, San Diego, where he studied economics and computer sciences.
