ADVA Optical Networking

Brian Protiva co-founded ADVA Optical Networking in 1994 and, as one of two Managing Directors, he initially focused on creating ADVA Optical Networking's marketing, sales and growth strategy. In 2001, with the change of the management board structure to emulate a U.S. company structure, Brian was appointed CEO and set in motion the strategies that fuel the Company's success today. Under his leadership, ADVA Optical Networking advanced to become the global market leader in Ethernet access devices and one of the top players in metro Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) worldwide. To date, ADVA Optical Networking's innovative Optical+Ethernet solutions have been deployed with more than 10,000 enterprises and more than 200 carriers around the world. Revenues reached more than EUR 250 million in 2007 (more than USD 340 million), while employment climbed to more than 1,000 employees at year-end 2007. Prior to ADVA Optical Networking, Brian was managing director at AMS Technologies (now the EGORA Group), which he joined in 1987 and where he focused on co-managing its subsidiaries.

Andreas Rutsch joined ADVA Optical Networking in 1999 as Chief Financial Officer and has played a significant role in its dynamic growth. Upon appointment, Andreas used his experience from previous positions at Merrill Lynch and Dresdner Bank to initiate key administrative functions and processes across global accounting, controlling, human resources, investor relations and mergers & acquisitions. These initiatives have resulted in enormous employment growth and continued increase in revenue, contributing significantly to ADVA Optical Networking's position as a global leader in Optical+Ethernet transport solutions. Andreas manages an international team of over 100 employees and continues to introduce and refine strategies that strengthen the company and ensure that ADVA Optical Networking is at the forefront of its industry.

Dr. Prabhu has been a director of ADC since November 2008. Dr. Prabhu served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Tellabs from February 2004 until his retirement in February 2008. Prior to joining Tellabs, Dr. Prabhu held various engineering and management positions at Alcatel, including chief operating officer of Alcatel and chief executive officer of Alcatel USA. From November 2001 until February 2004, Dr. Prabhu was a venture partner in Morgenthaler Ventures, a venture capital firm. Dr. Prabhu is also a director of Altera Corp. and Tekelec, Inc.
