Advanced BioPhotonics, Inc., was founded in 1997 to improve the quality of patient care and reduce the cost of healthcare services and research by identifying, acquiring and adapting military and aerospace technology for biomedical applications. Advanced BioPhotonics' lead product, the BioScanIR System, resolves the paradox found in today's healthcare system the demand for improved quality care delivered at a lower cost by providing a fast, non-invasive, radiation free method for detecting and managing a wide variety of diseases that affect blood perfusion, such as cancer and vascular disease. The BioScanIR System measures abnormal blood flow by detecting minute changes in the pattern of infrared photon emissions over time (photon flux). Our DIRI technology allows physicians as well as researchers to differentiate between normal and abnormal tissues by measuring these changes. The core detector technology used in the BioScanIR System is known as Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector (QWIP) and was originally developed for the Department of Defense's Ballistic Missile Defense Initiative (sometimes referred to as "Star Wars"). It is 50 times more sensitive than previously available infrared detectors and can collect data 10 times more rapidly.
