Dirk Meyer is president and chief executive officer of AMD and also serves on the company’s Board of Directors.
Prior to his being named CEO in 2008, Meyer served as president and chief operating officer of AMD, a role in which he shared leadership and management of AMD with Executive Chairman of the Board Hector Ruiz.
From 2001 to 2006, Meyer led the company’s microprocessor business, overseeing related R&D, manufacturing, operations and marketing. His leadership during these five years resulted in a doubling of revenue for the microprocessor business and a substantial expansion of AMD’s global profile.
Meyer joined AMD in 1995 and led engineering for the AMD Athlon™ microprocessor. In April 1999, he was promoted to vice president of engineering. In 2001, he was named group vice president and general manager of AMD's microprocessor business and in 2002 was named senior vice president and an executive officer of AMD.
Prior to AMD, Meyer spent nearly a decade at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he was co-architect of the Alpha 21064 and 21264 microprocessors.
As one of the world’s leading microprocessor design innovators, Meyer was presented with the prestigious Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Maurice Wilkes Award at the 2003 International Symposium on Computer Architecture (ISCA).
Meyer graduated from the University of Illinois, where he received a bachelor's degree in computer engineering. He also received a master's degree in business administration from Boston University.
Ahmed Mahmoud is the Chief Information Officer of AMD, and is responsible for managing the company's global technology infrastructure to best meet internal needs and serve AMD's customers.

Robert J. Rivet is executive vice president and chief operations and administrative officer of AMD. He is also acting chief financial officer until AMD names a replacement.
Rivet oversees AMD’s key centralized functions, including the company’s finance, supply chain including final manufacturing operations, human resources, and information technology organizations.
Rivet joined AMD in 2000 as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Immediately prior to joining AMD, Rivet served as senior vice president and director of finance of the Semiconductor Products Sector of Motorola, now an independent corporation called Freescale. The Semiconductor Business Sector was Motorola’s second-largest business segment, with more than $8 billion in sales and 34,000 employees worldwide.
A 24-year veteran of Motorola, Rivet has extensive experience in the semiconductor industry, having served in a number of positions in Motorola semiconductor operations, Rivet joined Motorola in 1976.
Rivet received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University, his C.P.A. from the University of Illinois, and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
Rivet and his wife, Cynthia, live in Austin, Texas, and are the parents of two children, Scott and Lauren.
Tom is Executive Vice President, Legal Affairs. His current leadership responsibilities include legal, corporate strategy and development, international policy, government and community affairs. During his tenure at AMD, he has also had leadership responsibility for human resources, public relations and information technology.
Tom joined AMD in January 1995, and was Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary until 2003. Prior to AMD, he spent 17 years at O'Melveny & Myers, one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the U.S., where he specialized in business litigation.
Tom holds an undergraduate degree in history from Stanford University and a law degree from the University of Southern California. He clerked for the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, served on the board of directors of the Western Center on Law and Poverty, and co-founded the California General Counsel’s Association. He is a frequent speaker on the principles and responsibilities of leadership.

Fred Weber is currently President and CEO of MetaRAM, a venture backed fables semiconductor startup focusing on bringing added value to the memory subsystems of servers, storage systems and network equipment. He spent the last 10 years at AMD helping to bring real competition to the microprocessor market with products like the AMD Athlon and AMD Opteron. At AMD Fred held positions of Vice President of Design and Chief Technical Officer. Prior to AMD Fred worked at several influential startups including Encore Computer, Kendall Square Research and Nexgen. Randy Allen is senior vice president, Computing Solutions Group, AMD. Reporting to President and COO Dirk Meyer, Allen is responsible for the development and management of AMD’s broad and growing portfolio of consumer and commercial microprocessor solutions and platforms.
Previously, Allen served as Corporate Vice President and General Manager for AMD’s Server and Workstation Business. In this role, Randy led AMD’s server business’ financial performance, business planning, silicon and platform planning, product management, and brand management. Prior to that, Allen was AMD’s vice president for Design Engineering where he was responsible for the silicon design engineering of AMD’s microprocessor and chipset products.
Allen joined AMD in 1984, and during his more than twenty-year career with the company, he has led several teams, including the implementation team of the AMD Athlon™ microprocessor and the design team for the AMD Opteron™ and AMD Athlon™ 64 microprocessor and associated chipsets.
Previous to AMD, Allen worked as a design engineer at Hewlett-Packard, where he worked for the HP3000 Business Computer development team.
Allen earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Hector Ruiz is executive chairman of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. and chairman of the company’s board of directors. As executive chairman, Ruiz will ensure a smooth executive leadership transition, drive the company’s asset smart strategy to completion, and guide high level government and other strategic relations. Dr. Ruiz joined AMD in January 2000 as president and chief operating officer, and was named chief executive officer in April 2002. He was appointed as chairman of the board in April 2004, and was named executive chairman in June 2008. Previously, Dr. Ruiz completed a 22-year career with Motorola, and in his last post there, served as president of the firm’s Semiconductor Products Sector. Ruiz also worked at Texas Instruments in the company's research laboratories and manufacturing operations. Dr. Ruiz is passionate about the role of technology in education and empowering the underprivileged. Ruiz’s vision led to the groundbreaking 50x15 Initiative, a commitment to empower 50% of the world's population with basic Internet access by the year 2015. Dr. Ruiz is a board member of the Eastman Kodak Company, serves as chairman of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) Board of Directors, and serves on the Board of Trustees of Rice University. Born in Piedras Negras, Mexico, Dr. Ruiz earned bachelor's and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas, Austin. He then earned his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Rice University in 1973.
Mr. Claflin retired as president, chief executive officer, and a member of the board of directors of 3Com Corporation in early 2006. Prior to 3Com, he served as senior vice president and general manager, sales and marketing for Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Claflin also worked for 22 years at IBM, where he held various sales, marketing and management positions, including general manager of the PC Company's worldwide R&D, product and brand management, as well as president of PC Company Americas.

Mr. Topfer is managing director of Castletop Capital. Previously, he served at Dell in both the role of vice chairman and as counselor to Dell's chief executive officer, advising in matters of critical importance to the company. Prior to his service at Dell from 1994 to 2002, Mr. Topfer served 23 years at Motorola, Inc. where he held several executive positions that spanned the full range of Motorola's global business.
