Advanced Photonix, Inc. (ASE: API) is a leading supplier of opto-electronic solutions and Terahertz sensors and instrumentation to a global OEM customer base. Our solutions are based on our patented high speed optical receivers in III-V materials in APD and PIN configurations and silicon Large Area Avalanche Photodiode (LAAPD), PIN photodiode and FILTRODEŽ detectors. The Terahertz sensor product line is targeted to the Non-Destructive Testing (including Baggage/Cargo Scanning) and Quality Control markets. Using our patented fiber coupled technology and high speed Terahertz generation and detection sensors we are transferring Terahertz from the application development laboratory to the factory floor. API supports the customer from the initial concept by the designing of the semiconductor, hybridization of support electronics, packaging and signal conditioning or processing from prototype through full-scale production and validation/test. Our served markets are: Telecom, Homeland Security, Military, Medical, and Industrial/NDT. The Company has three manufacturing facilities; one in Ann Arbor, Michigan, one in Camarillo, CA and one in Dodgeville, WI.

Mr. Risser co-founded Picometrix in 1992 which was acquired by Advanced Photonix Inc, in 2005 From 1982 through 1992 he served as a general partner and investor in numerous technology and real estate investments. From 1973 to 1981 Rob worked for the Bendix Corporation in corporate financial and strategic planning. He earned an MBA from the University of Michigan in 1978 and passed the CPA exam in 1975.

Mr. Williamson co-founded Picometrix in 1992. Prior to starting Picometrix, Steve was a Research Scientist at the NSF-funded Center for Ultrafast Optical Science (CUOS) at the University of Michigan from 1988 to 1993. From 1977 to 1988 he was a research engineer at the University of Rochester's Laboratory for Laser Energetics. He earned his B.A. in Physics (Optics) from the University of Rochester, has 35 publications in the field of ultrafast optics and optoelectronics and holds 12 patents and 2 patent applications.

Dr. David Zimdars is the manager of terahertz R&D at Picometrix, a subsidiary of Advanced Photonix. He directs all terahertz scientific, industrial, homeland security, and advanced product development projects at Picometrix. Dr. Zimdars led the technical development of the QA1000 Terahertz Non-Destructive Imaging System, a product that won the Photonics Spectra Circle of Excellence Award in 2004. He was also a co-developer of the T-Ray 2000 THz spectroscopy and imaging system. Zimdars received his B.S. in chemistry from Rocky Mountain College in 1989 and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford University in 1996. From 1996 to 1999 he was a post-doctoral researcher at Columbia University. His research work centered on ultrafast femtosecond laser spectroscopies. He currently has more than 32 papers and publications and four patents pending.
