The REC Group is a pioneer in a young industry. The company has its origins in Norway and its history goes back to the early 90's. REC was incorporated as a Norwegian private limited company in 1996 (originally named Fornybar Energi AS), focusing on investments in renewable energies, in Norway and internationally. In September 2000, common shareholders in ScanWafer AS, SolEnergy AS and Fornybar Energi AS formed a new holding company, REC, with the intention of becoming the majority shareholder in ScanWafer AS and investing in other activities in the PV industry value chain. REC was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in May 2006.
