Chairman and Chief Executive Officer |
Robert Alves has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Solutions International, (ASI) since its inception in October 1991. Mr. Alves had grown frustrated with the lack of customer service and the lack of a uniform product in the not-for-profit marketplace. It was his dream to create a packaged, upgradable software system a client could keep forever and never outgrow. His vision included award-winning support and a worldwide network of trained professionals to support the product. So in 1991, ASI launched iMIS, and it has become the only complete membership, fundraising and Website management solution available in one upgradeable software suite. Today, iMIS is used by more than 35,000 not-for-profit professionals everyday, supported by more than 1,000 trained and certified iMIS and Web development professionals, and established in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Mr. Alves has more than 24 years of experience in the business of software for not-for-profit organizations. Prior to launching ASI, he was President of DISC, a software consulting firm he created. He then served as Vice President of Corporate Development for Smith Abbott, a software developer which acquired DISC. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Fred Lawrence knows many things about even more things. With 38 years of living chin-deep in corporate finances, his grasp of accounting is staggering. We're glad he decided to turn his attention to the non-profit industry. Little did Fred know that the rigors of learning the Russian language would determine his future at Southern Methodist University, and lead to a change in major from mathematics to accounting. Numbers mix well with a Texas drawl, Cyrillic languages apparently don't. After putting a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Accounting from Southern Methodist University under his belt and deciding pass up a potential career in professional baseball, Fred focused nearly two decades working on the financial side of the manufacturing and distribution industry, and 14 years on finances for the software industry. Deciding to put off leisurely world travel and honing his golfing skills, this fourth generation Texan (Dallas has hosted Fred's family since 1851) decided in 1999 he would join Advanced Solutions International (ASI). ASI was quick to see his experience warranted a promotion and Fred was rapidly appointed Chief Financial Officer. Today, Fred continues to devote himself to both his family at home and at ASI. Through his work at ASI in the last seven years, Fred has developed a life-long passion for the non-profit industry, and is currently an active participant in several organizations. Mr.
Paul Ramsbottom is something of an alchemist. After all, he has turned an interest in golf into a successful business helping the not for profit sector manage its members, communications and fundraising through leading software and training. Paul was studying engineering in 1988 when he was asked to crunch some code and build a database for his father's Burleigh Heads golf club in Queensland that could keep track of membership dues, mailing addresses and the like. It was DOS-based and hard going but it worked. Soon; other golf clubs took a punt on Paul's new fangled system. He didn't know it then but Paul was on a fast track to a career helping NFPs with software solutions. Golf clubs soon made way for associations, charities and fundraisers including: CPA Australia, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Australian Institute of Company Directors, Australian Physiotherapy Association, Australian Medical Association, Cerebral Palsy League of Queensland, The Cancer Council Victoria and Australian Bush Heritage Fund.
Vickie entered the world of Human Resources 23 years ago after having spent a number of years in the accounting field. She has been involved in many industry sectors including Technology, Nursing Home, and Intermediate Care for Adults with Mental Retardation, as well as the public sector. She has a passion for the Human Resources field, and a high level of respect for the impact and difference that a well oiled Human Resources department can make for a company and its employees. A graduate of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, with a BBA major in Business Management, Vickie has also earned the Senior Professional in Human Resources certification (SPHR), Global Professional in Human Resources certification (GPHR), as well as the Certified Compensation Professional certification (CCP). A leader in the ASI community for many years, Vickie has led the ASI Human Resources team for the past seven years and has watched ASI evolve into a global organization. Her commitment to the ideals and values embodied by ASI also reflects her passion for the non-profit sector and its causes. She has volunteered for several causes including the Chairman of the Board for the Association for Retarded Citizens, Coach for Special Olympics Texas, Board of Directors - Greater San Marcos Youth Shelter, Chamber of Commerce San Marcos, Longhorn Foundation, Texas Exes and the Edison Learning Center Early Childhood Development Center - Board of Directors. For her, there is nothing like giving back to the community and doing what she can to further their causes and make a difference. Vickie is an avid Longhorn football fan and can often be seen wearing her burnt orange. She has one son who is a news producer, and a University of Texas Alumni. She has been married for 35 years and enjoys every minute of her life with her family.
Andrew is a modern-day explorer with eyes set firmly on breaking new ground within the non-profit world, as he's done for more than 20 years. As the ASI Canada Country Manager, ASI relies on Andrew to continue forging ahead to further populate the Canadian market with the iMIS solution. The logical choice as he was the pioneer that led the country's non-profit industry to iMIS in 1993, when he was at the helm of Sentient, one of ASI's original Authorized Solution Providers. His entrepreneur spirit became evident while attending Canada's top-ranked business school, York University's Schulich School of Business, where he earned a Masters in Business Administration. Chomping at the bit to apply his wealth of education, Andrew jumped in with both feet, founding and selling three companies since the mid 80's. Along the way, he has participated on the Board of Directors for numerous private companies and non-profit organizations. Over the years, Andrew has kept one foot firmly entrenched in the academic life, serving as President of the York University Alumni Association and on the Dean's Advisory Council for the Faculty of Arts.
