Dr. Nuhn received his undergraduate degree in biology, medical degree and general surgery training at the University of Missouri- Kansas City. Following completion of his general surgery residency, Dr. Nuhn then accepted a transplant surgery fellowship position at the Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School. While at MGH, he completed two years of clinical transplantation and another year of transplant research at the Transplantation Biology Research Center. Dr Nuhn's area of research interest has been in the fields of pancreas islet cell and kidney transplantation, using novel immunosuppressant therapy and techniques in allo and xenogeneic models. Dr. Nuhn is a board certified general surgeon with certified specialty training in adult and pediatric kidney and liver transplantation as well as hepatobiliary surgery. Dr. Nuhn is currently active in the transplant community and is a member of several surgical societies including AST, ASTS, ACS and the Transplantation Society. Dr. Nuhn has also served as an independent reviewer for Transplantation and The American Journal of Transplantation.
