Frank J. Williams joined us in September 2000 as an Executive Vice President and has been our Chief Executive Officer and a director since June 2001. Effective September 1, 2008, Mr. Williams will become Executive Chairman of the company, at which time he will no longer serve as Chief Executive Officer. In November 2004, he began serving as Chairman of our Board of Directors. From June 2000 through January 2001, Mr. Williams was the President of an affiliated company, eHospital Inc., which focused on developing and delivering health care content to patients and providers via the Internet. From 1999 through May 2000, Mr. Williams served as the President of MedAmerica OnCall, a provider of outsourced services to physician organizations, hospitals, and managed care entities. Mr. Williams also served as a Vice President of Vivra Incorporated and as the General Manager of Vivra Orthopedics, an operational division of Vivra Specialty Partners, a private health care services and technology firm. Earlier in his career, Mr. Williams was employed by Bain & Company. Mr. Williams serves on the board of directors of Market Force Information, Inc., a privately held market research firm and Sheridan Health Care, a privately held physician services company. Mr. Williams received a B.A. from University of California, Berkeley and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Robert W. Musslewhite became a director in May 2008 and became our Chief Executive Officer in September 2008. Mr. Musslewhite joined the Company in 2003 and became Executive Vice President in January 2007, responsible for strategic planning and general management of certain of our membership programs. Previously, he served as Executive Director, Strategic Planning and New Product Development. From 1997 to 2003, Mr. Musslewhite was employed at McKinsey & Company, where as an Associate Principal he served a range of clients across the consumer products and other industries, and was a leader in the firm s marketing practice. Mr. Musslewhite has an A.B. degree in Economics from Princeton University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

David L. Felsenthal first joined us in 1992 and was named Chief Operating Officer in January 2007. Prior to that, Mr. Felsenthal had been an Executive Vice President since February 2006, and was Chief Financial Officer, Secretary, and Treasurer from April 2001 through February 2006. From September 1999 to March 2001, Mr. Felsenthal was Vice President of an affiliated company, eHospital NewCo Inc., focused on developing and delivering health care content to patients and providers via the Internet. From 1997 to 1999, Mr. Felsenthal worked as Director of Business Development and Special Assistant to the CEO/ CFO of Vivra Specialty Partners, a private health care services and technology firm. From 1992 through 1995, Mr. Felsenthal held various positions with us in research and new product development. Mr. Felsenthal received an A.B. degree from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.

Michael T. Kirshbaum became our Chief Financial Officer in February 2006. Mr. Kirshbaum joined the Company in 1998 and has held a variety of positions across the finance group, most recently serving as Senior Director of Finance, where he was responsible for most of the Company’s finance operations including the Company’s overall financial strategy and budgeting process, as well as a number of other accounting functions. Mr. Kirshbaum has a B.S. degree in Economics from Duke University.

Scott A. Schirmeier was named Chief Marketing Officer in October 2006. Mr. Schirmeier joined us in 1995 and was our General Manager, Sales and Marketing, from June 2001 to October 2006. From 1995 to June 2001, Mr. Schirmeier held various management positions overseeing marketing, sales and relationship management functions, including Senior Director, Sales and Relationship Management from July 1998 to March 2000, and Executive Director, Sales and Marketing from March 2000 to June 2001. Mr. Schirmeier received a B.A. from Colby College.

Mr. Fassbach directs the Advisory Board's firmwide research efforts and is responsible for the overall quality and accuracy of its work. He has worked in health care for twenty years, both in hospital consulting and in health care research. Having worked at the Advisory Board from its inception, Mr. Fassbach has directed or participated in all of the firm's major research initiatives. In his current capacity as Chief Research Officer, he speaks regularly on topics related to health system strategy, health care market growth, clinical innovation, and national health care reform. Mr. Fassbach previously worked in the national health care practice of Ernst & Young, largely focusing on regulatory and reimbursement issues.

Michael A. D Amato served as our Executive Vice President from July 1998 until June 2001, and as our Chief Financial Officer from 1996 until July 1998. He has been a director since June 2001. Since October 1997, Mr. D Amato also has served as the Chief Financial Officer of DGB Enterprises, and was the Chief Financial Officer of The Corporate Executive Board Company from October 1997 until November 1998. Mr. D Amato is also a member of the board of directors of The Corporate Executive Board Company. Mr. D Amato was a partner at Bain & Company from 1982 until 1995. Mr. D Amato received a B.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Richard A. Schwartz joined us in 1992 and was named Executive Vice President in February 2006, responsible for strategic planning and general management of certain of our membership programs. He had been our General Manager, Research since June 2001. Previously, Mr. Schwartz held various management positions in our research programs, including Executive Director, Research from June 1996 to March 2000. Mr. Schwartz received a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Duke University.

Mr. Queen is a founder of H*Works Consulting and a Principal with The Advisory Board Company. Mr. Queen currently serves as General Manager and Executive Director of H*Works. Over the past 15 years, Mr. Queen has assisted hundreds of hospitals in achieving more prosperous growth, streamlined operations, and enhanced working environments.

Ms. Shaw joined The Advisory Board Company as the firm's second employee and has served in leadership roles throughout the firm's history. She has directed over 25 research initiatives on hospital and health system strategy and operations. Currently, Ms. Shaw oversees the Advisory Board's initiatives in leadership development for health care leaders, including the Nursing Leadership Academy, the Performance Leadership Academy, the Academy Fellowship, the Physician Leadership Academy, and the Center for Frontline Nursing Leadership.

"Chas Roades Executive Director * MBA, Stanford Graduate School of Business * MA, Stanford University * BA, University of Virginia Mr. Roades leads research efforts on the market forces and trends driving the evolution of the American health care industry, with a focus on strategic planning, margin and revenue enhancement, clinical innovation, and the organization and management of health care delivery. He also oversees the firm’s research for international hospital members and health insurance plans. In 2006, Mr. Roades was appointed to Virginia's Health Information Technology Council by Governor Timothy Kaine. In this role, Mr. Roades will help drive the adoption of electronic health records across Virginia in an effort to lower costs for employers and insurers. Before joining the Advisory Board, Mr. Roades was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company, where he was responsible for leading projects on strategy, organization, and operations for Fortune 500 clients. Previously, Mr. Roades served as a captain in the United States Air Force, working as an intelligence officer and Russian area specialist."

Mr. Kett oversees the Advisory Board Academy’s faculty and is a lead faculty member for the Advisory Board's Academy Fellowship, helping hospitals and health systems address their most pressing priorities by identifying emerging senior leaders in the organization and accelerating their readiness for executive roles. Prior to joining the Advisory Board, Mr. Kett was a Partner at the TQM Group, a service quality consulting firm serving Fortune 500 clients. Previously, he served as a senior consultant at Bain & Company, a strategic management consultancy based in Boston, Massachusetts. There, in addition to his full-time consulting activities, he headed Bain's Worldwide Associate Consultant Training Program.

" Carle Falk Managing Director * MHA, The George Washington University * BA, Drew University Ms. Falk spearheads research initiatives on physician leadership development and fostering business collaboration between physicians and health systems. Prior to joining the Advisory Board in 1995, Ms. Falk worked as manager for the national health care practice of Ernst & Young, where she analyzed federal legislation and predicted future policy trends and their implications for the firm's entire hospital client base. Previously, she served as director of member services for the National Health Council, where she designed health policy educational programs for association executives and managed advocacy campaigns requesting increased funding for medical research."

Dr. Sprung oversees the development of curriculum and services across the Advisory Board Academies, working with partner institutions to strengthen the organization by elevating the performance of health care leaders. In her previous role, she served as the National Practice Leader for Clinical Operations in the Advisory Board's H*Works division, helping health care organizations improve operational efficiency and capacity management. Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Sprung led projects on strategy, organization, and operations for McKinsey & Company. Previously, Dr. Sprung was on the clinical staff at McLean Hospital, a Harvard-affiliated private psychiatric hospital and served as clinical instructor in psychology in the department of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

Mr. Wagner is currently a Managing Director with the Advisory Board Academies where he is responsible for developing curriculum, training faculty, teaching classes, and conducting workshops at leading hospitals in the United States, Canada, and Europe. He has presented research findings, moderated case study discussions, and conducted workshops for more than 600 health care organizations, professional associations, government agencies, the United States armed forces, insurance firms, pharmaceutical companies, and medical device manufacturers. Prior to joining the Advisory Board, Mr. Wagner served four terms in the South Dakota House of Representatives, serving as assistant majority leader and vice chair of Health and Human Services. Additionally, Mr. Wagner was elected to five terms as President of the Aldermanic Council of Mayors of a small town in South Dakota and served as vice president of the State Municipal League.

Prior to joining H*Works, Ms. Dasher served as a senior consultant with The Katz Consulting Group, Inc., a health care consulting firm based in suburban Philadelphia. During her tenure at KCG, she provided strategic and financial consulting services to a wide variety of hospitals and health systems throughout the country. Formerly, Ms. Dasher was a consultant with Ernst & Younga s Philadelphia-based health care consulting practice. She was also a financial analyst for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and in this capacity assisted in the development of a city-operated, not-for-profit managed care organization. This organization is currently responsible for coordinating the behavioral health care needs of more than 400,000 Medicaid recipients in the city of Philadelphia.

Sean manages the product roadmap for FoundationForAll's website, community and software applications. He is also responsible for coordinating partnerships and co-develoment projects with other microfinance web-solutions. Sean is also the Director of Product Management for OptiLink Software a subsidary of the Advisory Board Company. Previously, Sean was founding a member of Ernst & Young's Venture Capital Advisory Group, a global network of business advisors specializing in funding innovation through private equity transactions, strategic partnerships, and sustainable organic growth. Sean developed his love for the entrepreneurial spirit during his career at the University of Pennsylvania SFCU . This non-profit $8 million credit union - operated by student volunteers - competes directly with the nations largest banks for student and alumni accounts. Dedicated to advancing entrepreneurship, Sean has served the Kauffman Foundation's Entrepreneur Of The Year Program, Enterprise Center , Temple University's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute , Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs, and the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship. Sean holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Management and Finance where he concentrated his studies in Accounting, Strategic Management, and 20th Century Intellectual History.

" Aamir Rehman, MD * MB, BS (MD), Aga Khan University Medical College * MBA, Duke University, The Fuqua School of Business Dr. Rehman has worked with H*Works, the Advisory Board Academies, and the Advisory Board syndicated research divisions. He has advised senior physician and executive leaders at member hospitals on strategies and best practices for improving clinical quality and optimizing hospital operations. Prior to joining the Advisory Board, Dr. Rehman worked with Mercer Management Consulting and Corporate Decisions Inc., advising clients on post-merger integration, acquisition strategies, and business redesign. Dr. Rehman also has an adjunct faculty appointment at Johns Hopkins University."

Carol Gray is the Director of The Gray Center for Social Learning and Understanding in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She recently completed over 22 years of employment with Jenison Public Schools in Jenison, Michigan, initially as a teacher with students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and in recent years as a consultant to students with ASD in inclusive educational programs. In 1991, Carol developed Social Stories and Comic Strip Conversations strategies that are used worldwide with children, adolescents, and adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). She has published several resources on topics related to children and adults with ASD, including articles on bullying, death and dying, and how to teach social understanding. (Carol's complete three-part series of articles, Gray's Guide to Bullying Parts I-III, 2000-2001, which had been unavailable for the last 1.5 - 2 years, was reprinted under one cover in a special edition of the Jenison Autism Journal, Vol 16 #1, 2004). She is the recipient of the Barbara Lipinski Award for her international contribution to the education and welfare of people with ASD.

Prior to joining H*Works, Ms. Ewing served as a senior consultant with Deloitte Consultinga s health care practice. During her tenure at Deloitte, she provided operational and strategic consulting services to hospitals and health systems throughput the country. Her clients included academic medical centers, integrated delivery systems, and public hospitals. Previously, Ms. Ewing held a consulting position with PFCA, an Atlanta-based consulting firm, working in health system integration, performance improvement, and change management.

Dr. Grazmana s expertise lays in improving clinical throughput issues, particularly emergency department and inpatient capacity management challenges. He has worked at institutions ranging from small community hospitals to large academic medical centers. Over the years, Dr. Grazman has held a variety of other positions at the Advisory Board Company, including serving as a Dedicated Clinical Advisor to member organizations, as well as a national presenter for the Health Care Advisory Board. Prior to joining The Advisory Board Company and H*Works, Dr. Grazman was a professor of public administration and healthcare management at the University of Southern Californiaa s School of Policy, Planning and Development.

Mr. Klasnick manages client engagements focused on reduction in premium labor costs, productivity initiatives, workforce recruitment and retention strategies. In addition, he helps partner hospitals identify areas in which they can benefit from implementation of supply cost management best practices. Mr. Klasnicka s areas of expertise include supply and labor cost management. Before joining H*Works, Mr. Klasnick was with Cardinal Health Consulting Services as a senior consultant and project lead.

Mr. Neis works closely with hospitals and health systems on initiatives that enhance clinical quality, expedite patient throughput, and improve revenue capture. Mr. Neis has more than 18 years of health care experience. Before joining H*Works, Mr. Neis served as director of the emergency department at Carolinas Medical Center, which supported more than 110,000 visits annually. As ED director, he provided clinical oversight on both the construction of a pediatric ED and the redesign of operational processes to improve efficiency and patient satisfaction. Mr. Neis has also worked on grant-funded policy and practice projects for health care providers. He served on the U.S. Institute of Medicinea s Prehospital EMS Subcommittee for the project titled: "The Future of Emergency Care in the United States Health System."

Dr. Smalto leverages his expertise to help hospitals improve perioperative surgery suite efficiency and address anesthesiology resource deployment challenges. Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Smalto was an instructor at George Washington University where he managed academic medical caseloads, instructed residents and medical students, and assisted in planning for an ambulatory surgical center. He has 10 years of private medical practice experience and served as director of pediatric anesthesiology at St. Josepha s Hospital and Tampa Childrena s Hospital.

Prior to joining H*Works, Mr. Green worked for seven years as a consultant with CSC Health Care Group (formerly APM Management Consultants). There he worked with academic, teaching, and community health care institutions in both West and East Coast markets. Mr. Green provided expertise on a variety of performance improvement initiatives including financial process redesign, the management of non-clinical resources, integrated delivery network (IDN) development, and supply chain management. Mr. Green was also instrumental in the clinical effectiveness practice, where he assisted clinical leaders in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, pathways, and disease management programs.

Previously, Ms. Latimer was the H*Works National Practice Leader for growth and service line planning. In this capacity, she helped hospitals determine investment and development strategies across key service lines, including: bariatric surgery, oncology, cardiovascular, and orthopedics. Prior to joining the Advisory Board Company, Ms. Latimer was a manager with Deloitte Consulting, specializing in health care operations and turnarounds. In this capacity, she facilitated efforts to improve clinical and administrative processes related to direct patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition to process improvement, Ms. Latimer has assisted her clients with information system selection and implementation to support care management and supply chain operations.

Prior to joining H*Works, Mr. Fleming served as chief executive officer of Summerville Medical Center, part of Trident Health System, which is of one of the highest employee, physician, and patient-rated hospitals within HCA. Mr. Fleming has also completed over $100 million in construction projects within the organizations he has led. He also founded a development program for hospital leaders focused on sustaining a high performance culture, finance, strategic planning, physician relations, human resources, quality, and diversity.

Rachel Kramer is a Senior Consultant with H*Works and a resident expert in operational strategies for improving patient throughput in the emergency department and inpatient capacity terrains.A In addition to capacity management work, Ms. Kramer is an acting Engagement Director on the Rapid Margin Recovery Audit engagements, which provide a full review of hospital operations. Prior to joining H*Works, Ms. Kramer worked as an administrative resident at Middlesex Hospital in Connecticut.

Ms. Yancey leads best practice implementation within the H*Works capacity for growth and case management engagements. In addition, she manages client engagements focused on reduction in premium labor costs, productivity initiatives, and workforce recruitment and retention strategies. Prior to joining H*Works, Ms. Yancey worked in a variety of health care settings, holding clinical and administrative positions in critical care, acute rehabilitation, case management, and performance improvement.

Mr. O’Hara is responsible for overall service quality, partner satisfaction, and operational excellence with the Advisory Board Academies. Previously, Mr. O’Hara led the Advisory Board’s research efforts to develop new programs and services that were designed to equip hospitals to better manage workforce performance, including the development of the Academies’ progress tracking and recognition services. In his over 10 years with the Advisory Board, Mr. O’Hara has served in variety of research, business, and publishing roles.

Ms. Harrison specializes in operational strategies for elevating emergency department performance and maximizing hospital capacity and throughput. Ms. Harrison brings over 10 years of clinical hospital experience from the emergency department, surgical services, and ambulatory operations. Prior to joining H*Works, Ms. Harrison served as a senior process consultant for Childrena s Healthcare of Atlanta with several nurse leadership roles in the PACU, emergency department, and ambulatory services. Ms. Harrison also served in the Sewanee Emergency Medical Service prior to joining Childrena s Healthcare of Atlanta. Ms. Harrison is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and has completed Black Belt training.

William R. Coughlan is one of the founders of Tohubohu Productions, which basically means that even on pictures he doesn't direct, he can at least squeeze in an Executive Producer credit. He is also a video producer for The Advisory Board Company in Washington, D.C., where he began as a graphic designer before segueing into video and multimedia. An avid proponent of digital production (though no George Lucas apologist), William has been working exclusively on the Macintosh platform for more than a decade. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of William and Mary and a Doctor of Divinity from the Universal Life Church. He dabbles in screenwriting, acting, three-dimensional animation, and writing autobiographical comments in the third person. He is also the illustrator of the therapeutic workbook Stories for Children with Problems & Wishes, has provided schematic graphics for several HBS case studies, designed the acclaimed Protege clay poker chip line, and serves as the Critic at Large for the online literary magazine Inkblots. He currently resides at a secret compound in Burke, Virginia, with his wife Pam and their two daughters, and can usually be found ranting on the Web at Prometheus Unleashed.

Jeffrey D. Zients joined us in 1992, served as our Chief Executive Officer from July 1998 until June 2001 and became our Chairman of the Board in June 2001. Prior to July 1998, Mr. Zients held various positions with us, including Chief Operating Officer from 1996 to July 1998. Mr. Zients also has served as the Chief Operating Officer of DGB Enterprises since October 1997. From the time of our spin-off of The Corporate Executive Board Company until April 2001, Mr. Zients was a director of The Corporate Executive Board Company, and was Chairman of the Board of The Corporate Executive Board Company from January 2000 to April 2001. Prior to joining us, Mr. Zients was employed at Mercer Management Consulting and Bain & Company. Mr. Zients received a B.S. from Duke University.

Director Since 2009 Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. since May 2008. Prior to being named Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Casper served as president of Thermo Fisher's Analytical Technologies business following the merger of Thermo Electron and Fisher Scientific in November 2006. From December 2003 to November 2006, Mr. Casper served as Senior Vice President of Thermo Electron Corporation. Mr. Casper joined Thermo Electron Corporation in December 2001 as President of its Life and Laboratory Sciences sector. Previously, he served as President, Chief Executive Officer and a director of Kendro Laboratory Products and prior to that, he was President-Americas for Dade Behring Inc. Mr. Casper began his career at Bain & Company as a strategy consultant and later joined Bain Capital, where he oversaw business development, strategy and business integration in select companies owned by Bain. Mr. Casper currently also serves on the board of The Advisory Board Company, a healthcare best practices research and consulting organization. He attended Harvard Business School where he earned his MBA with high distinction and is a graduate of Wesleyan University, where he received a B.A. in economics.

Mark R. Neaman has served as a member of our Board of Directors since 2004. Since 1992 Mr. Neaman has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Corporation, a $1 billion integrated provider of healthcare services that includes three hospitals, a 500-physician multi-specialty group practice, a $100 million foundation, a research institute and is an academic affiliate of Northwestern University, where he holds a faculty position as a Senior Fellow. From 1984 to 1991, Mr. Neaman served as Evanston Northwestern's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Neaman serves on the board of directors of several private healthcare entities and charitable and educational organizations. Mr. Neaman received a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.S. in Business and Healthcare Administration from The Ohio State University.
