Mr. Shepherd joined the BD-Institute as an extension of his long career in project management. He is the out-going President of the International Project Management Association (IPMA) and has managed projects in one form or another for more than 25 years, first in the British Army, then with AEA Technology plc. He has led a variety of projects in the UK, Eastern Europe, and Russia and has consulted in many other geographic areas as well. In addition to his work with IPMA, Mr. Shepherd has been an active leader in the UK Association for Project Management (APM). This included serving as a member of the Project Management Panel, in which capacity he acted as examiner for the British Computer Society's Information Systems Examination Board. In addition, Mr. Shepherd is an assessor for the German Project Management Association's Excellence in Project Management Awards and Chairman of the International Committee for the World Project Management Congresses held in Budapest and New Delhi. Mr. Shepherd has also served in various academic roles, including Associate Lecturer and research supervisor for the Open University, industry specialist for the validation of postgraduate project management programs at Bournemouth University, Adjunct Professor of Project Management with the Asia Pacific International College, and Hon Senior Research Fellow University College London.
