Affymetrix GeneChip® microarray technology is the industry-standard tool for analyzing complex genetic information. After inventing microarray technology in the late 1980s, Affymetrix scientists have been dedicated to developing innovative products that provide researchers with a more complete view of the genome. These products continue to accelerate genetic research. They enable scientists to develop diagnostics which may support the tailoring of treatments for patients by identifying and measuring the genetic information associated with complex diseases. Today, Affymetrix technology is used by the world?s top pharmaceutical, diagnostic and biotechnology companies, as well as leading academic, government and not-for-profit research institutes. More than 1,800 systems have been shipped around the world and more than 17,000 peer-reviewed papers have been published using the technology. Affymetrix is headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif., and has manufacturing facilities in Cleveland, Ohio, and Singapore. The company has about 1,100 employees worldwide and maintains sales and distribution operations across Europe and Asia.

Dr. Fodor is one of the founders of Perlegen and has served as chairman of Perlegen's Board of Directors since the company's inception. He is also Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Affymetrix, Inc. Dr. Fodor previously held positions at the Affymax Research Institute from 1989 to 1992, where he spearheaded the effort to develop high-density arrays of biological compounds. Dr. Fodor and colleagues were the first to develop and describe microarray technologies and combinatorial chemistry synthesis, today known as GeneChip brand technology, for which they received the AAAS 1992 Newcomb Cleveland Award. In 2002, Dr. Fodor earned the prestigious Takeda Foundation Award for his accomplishments in science, as well as The Economist Innovation Award for Nanotechnology and the Oxford Bioscience Award. Dr. Fodor also serves on the Board of Directors of Sunesis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and on the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Institute of Washington. He received his B.S. in biology and M.S. in biochemistry from Washington State University and his Ph.D. in chemistry from Princeton University. Dr. Fodor was a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellow at The University of California, Berkeley.

Barbara is Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Affymetrix, Inc. Ms. Caulfield served as United States District Judge for the Northern District of California from 1991 until 1994. Currently, Mike is the Senior Financial Analyst at Affymetrix, a Bay Area bio-technology firm. Over the years, Mr. Rabaca has realized a wide variety of significant financial and legal accomplishments, including streamlining budget processes through process improvements and implementation of efficient budgeting tools , key AP/AR interface reconciliations, and billing system improvements , which have led to major increases in revenue recognition and savings for various corporations.

Dr. Guthart joined Intuitive Surgical, Inc. in April 1996 and became Vice President, Engineering in November 1999. He was promoted to Sr. Vice President, Product Operations in January 2002. Previously, Dr. Guthart was part of the core team developing foundation technology for computer enhanced-surgery at SRI International (formally Stanford Research Institute). While at SRI, he also developed technologies for vibration and acoustic control of large-scale systems. Upon receiving his doctorate degree from the California Institute of Technology, he was honored with the Richard Bruce Chapman Memorial Award. Paul Berg, Ph.D., has served as a director since 1993. Dr. Berg is Cahill Professor of Cancer Research and Biochemistry, Emeritus and Director, Emeritus of the Beckman Center for Molecular and Genetic Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
