Journalism derailed Dan's career in paleontology during his sophomore year. He started as a cub photographer for the independent student newspaper, The Daily Californian, and soon worked his way up through the paper's ranks and served as photo editor for more than a year. During his tenure as photo editor, he spent upwards of 30 hours a week covering sports, features and breaking news. As a senior, Dan went on to become the paper's editor in chief and president, where his duties included maintaining a $2 million budget and managing a 200-person staff. Pagination, upgrading the photo department to digital cameras, and a successful contract negotiation with the company's union members is his legacy at the paper. Dan now lives in Arlington, Virginia and is working as a multimedia editor at Agence France-Presse in Washington, DC. He misses the temperate weather of the Bay Area and you can reach him at dan@danjung.net dan@danjung.net
