As CAASD's chief software architect, Kim Warren plays a lead role in evolving MITRE/CAASD's software processes and establishing strategic directions for our software assets. She is responsible for all software development processes (business case, requirements, design, development, test, and fielding) for MITRE/CAASD software deliverables and tools. She also focuses on software architecture and re-use across outcomes, outputs, and divisions. Prior to joining MITRE/CAASD, Ms. Warren worked for General Motors, where she was the director for global e-product development and supplier collaboration. Her responsibilities included defining and executing the strategy for global development and deployment of new applications for 30,000 design and engineering employees and 50,000 supplier users worldwide. A researcher and developer at heart, Ms. Warren started her career in the late 80s in the MITRE artificial intelligence center. She moved on to Concept Five to lead software product development in collaborative systems, enterprise application integration, and security products for Hitachi and Iona. She has a master's degree in artificial intelligence from Edinburgh University in Scotland and a bachelor's degree in computer science from Syracuse University in New York.

Kathy Wang broke into programming with BASIC on the Apple IIgs. She has a bachelor's and master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, where she specialized in VLSI chip design and semiconductor device physics and fabrication. She worked at Digital as part of the Next-Generation Alpha Chip Design Team, and got to spend an entire wonderful summer blowing up Alpha chips. She has published a paper on some of the work she did there at an IEEE conference. Kathy has instructed courses ranging from Semiconductor Device Physics to Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing. Since Digital got broken up by Compaq and Intel, Kathy has focused on the software side of things. She has worked at Counterpane Internet Security, and currently works as a Senior Infosec Engineer at The MITRE Corporation. Kathy is also a founder of Syn Ack Labs, a computer security research group focused on cryptography, steganography, and low-level packet hijinks.
