Paul Sagan, president and CEO of Akamai, joined the company in October 1998. Mr. Sagan was elected to the Akamai Board of Directors in January 2005, and he became CEO in April 2005. He brings to Akamai the experience of leading visionary technology companies and media businesses and a wealth of management experience. Previously, Mr. Sagan served as senior advisor to the World Economic Forum from 1997 to 1998, consulting to the Geneva-based organization on information technology for the world's 1,000 foremost multinational corporations. In 1995, Mr. Sagan was named president and editor of new media at Time Inc., a division of Time Warner, and worked in that role until 1997. Previously, he served as managing editor of Time Warner's News on Demand project and was a senior member of the team responsible for the development of the company's online, cable online, electronic publishing, and Internet publishing activities. He was a founder of Road Runner, the world's first broadband cable modem service, and Pathfinder, one of the Web properties that pioneered Internet advertising. Mr. Sagan joined Time Warner in 1991 to design and launch NY 1 News, the cable news network based in New York City. NY 1 became known for its groundbreaking use of digital video technology and video journalists carrying their own small-format cameras. As a senior vice president of Time Warner Cable, Mr. Sagan participated in the creation of a corporate group that developed and launched similar owned-and-operated cable news channels in other metropolitan areas. Mr. Sagan's career began in broadcast television news. He joined WCBS-TV in 1981 as a news writer and was named news director in 1987 at age 28, the youngest person to hold the position in the network's history. Mr. Sagan, a three-time Emmy Award winner for broadcast journalism, became a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2008 and was named a Global Leader for Tomorrow in 1996 by the World Economic Forum. He is a director of Massachusetts-based EMC Corp. (NYSE: EMC), and previously served as a director of Dow Jones & Company and Digitas Inc. before they were acquired. Mr. Sagan is a trustee of Northwestern University; a graduate of Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism; co-chairman of the Medill Board of Advisors; a member of the Dean's Council at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University; a member of the advisory board of the Shorenstein Center On the Press, Politics & Public Policy at the Kennedy School; an advisor to the MATCH charter public school in Boston; and a member of the Presidential Advisory Council at the Berklee College of Music.

J.D. Sherman is Akamai's Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Sherman joined Akamai in November 2005. Prior to Akamai, Mr. Sherman served as the chief financial executive of IBM's $21 billion Systems and Technology Group. During his 15-year career at IBM, Mr. Sherman held a number of senior executive positions in Finance, including Vice President, Finance and Planning, zSeries Server Division, and Assistant Controller of IBM Corporate Financial Strategy and Budgets. As Vice President, Finance and Planning, for the zSeries Server Division, Mr. Sherman served as financial and business leader for IBM's $5 billion mainframe computer division. During this tenure, he was instrumental in the development and implementation of pricing strategies, and led a worldwide finance and sales operations team responsible for an $800 million expense budget. In the role of Assistant Controller of IBM Corporate Financial Strategy and Budgets, Mr. Sherman developed IBM's long-term financial strategy including revenue/profit growth objectives, investments, and capital requirements. He also served as CFO for CommQuest, a 100%-owned subsidiary in the wireless semiconductor design industry, acquired by IBM in March of 1998 for $200 million. He developed the post-acquisition business plan and led the integration of CommQuest into IBM. Mr. Sherman has an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in Economics from Emory University.

Mike Afergan was named Chief Technology Officer of Akamai in October 2005. In addition to serving as CTO, Mike is a Senior Vice President with the company. A veteran of Akamai's distinguished engineering organization, Dr. Afergan joined Akamai in 1999, and has served in various roles within Akamai's Engineering and Product Management departments, including Director of Technology Strategy and Director of Load Balancing and Mapping. At MIT's Laboratory for Computer Science and at Harvard, he has conducted research in the areas of networking and distributed systems. This includes the impact of economic incentives on networked systems, reliable networking and content distribution protocols, and wireless protocols and architectures. He has authored a number of academic publications on these topics and has served as a teaching fellow and guest lecturer at Harvard University. His work has won him several industry accolades, and he is an invited speaker in a variety of industry and academic forums. Dr. Afergan graduated magna cum laude with highest honors from Harvard College with an A.B. in Computer Science and a focus on Economics. He holds a S.M. from Harvard University and a PhD from MIT, both in Computer Science. He is also a graduate of the Greater Boston Executive Program from the Sloan School at MIT.

Robert Wood is Vice President and Chief Development Officer for Akamai. Chris Schoettle is Executive Vice President of Products at Akamai. Mr. Schoettle is responsible for Akamai's premier solutions for application performance, dynamic sites, and digital assets. These solutions are market-leading in the application performance of Web and IP business applications; dynamic site acceleration and downloads of rich and interactive web sites; and advanced media management of online video, streaming, and storage services. Mr. Schoettle leads product management, product marketing, product specialists, business development, and product operations across these solutions. Mr. Schoettle joined Akamai in 2001 and has also been responsible for Akamai’s global technology platform, including software development, information security, network infrastructure, and service operations. Mr. Schoettle led the integration of the acquisitions of Nine Systems, Netli, Red Swoosh, and Speedera Networks, all of which were acquired since 2005. Prior to Akamai, Mr. Schoettle held a diverse set of positions across a wide range of businesses. Harald Prokop is Senior Vice President of Engineering at Akamai. Mr. Prokop manages the Company's engineering efforts and is responsible for building the services that run on Akamai's globally distributed computing platform. Robert Blumofe is the Senior Vice President of Networks and Operations at Akamai. Prior to Allegiance Telecom, Ms. Haratunian was Vice President and General Counsel of HarvardNet, Inc., where she established and managed the company's legal department through its entire life cycle. As a Partner at the law firm of Halprin, Temple, Goodman & Sugrue in Washington D.C. and as a senior official at the Federal Communications Commission, Ms. Haratunian was recognized as a national expert on customer privacy issues. In that capacity, she provided legal and regulatory counsel on matters impacting privacy legislation introduced in the U.S. Congress, and those affecting her firm's Fortune 100 corporate clients. Mr. Salerno is elected to the Board as of January 1, 2006, having previously served as a director of the former Viacom Inc. since 1994. He is a retired Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Verizon Communications Inc., a position he held from June 2000 to October 2002. Prior to that, Mr. Salerno served as Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Bell Atlantic (Verizon’s predecessor) from August 1997. Prior to the merger of Bell Atlantic and NYNEX Corporation, Mr. Salerno served as Vice Chairman, Finance and Business Development, of NYNEX from 1994 to 1997. Geoffrey Moore has served as a director of Akamai since October 2006. Mr. Moore has been a Managing Director of TCG Advisors LLC, a management consulting firm, since May 2003. Previously, he had been a Managing Director of The Chasm Group, a technology strategy consulting firm that he founded in 1993. Mr. Moore is also a venture partner at Mohr Davidow Ventures, a venture capital firm, serving as an advisor to many of its portfolio companies. He graduated in American literature with honors from Stanford University and has a doctorate from the University of Washington in English literature.

Martin M. Coyne II has served as a director of Akamai since November 2001. Mr. Coyne was named our Lead Director in May 2003. Between 1995 and his retirement in July 2003, Mr. Coyne served in a variety of senior management positions at the Eastman Kodak Company, which develops, manufactures and markets imaging products and services. Mr. Coyne most recently served as Group Executive, Photography Group, and Executive Vice President of Eastman Kodak. Mr. Coyne also serves on the boards of directors of OpenPages, a privately-held provider of enterprise governance, risk and compliance management solutions, and Avecia Group Plc., a privately-held manufacturer of biologics and oligonucleotides. Mr. Coyne earned a B.S. degree in Pharmacy from Fordham University in 1971 and an MBA degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1985. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of Business in 1989.

Ronald Graham has served as a director of Akamai since August 2001. Mr. Graham, a professor at the University of California at San Diego since January 1999, holds the Irwin and Joan Jacobs Endowed Chair of Computer and Information Science. Mr. Graham is also the Chief Scientist of the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, an institute created by the State of California to fund research related to the next generation of Internet technologies. In addition, since July 1996, Mr. Graham has served as the Treasurer of the National Academy of Sciences. From 1962 until December 1999, Mr. Graham served in a variety of positions at AT&T Corp., a global telecommunications corporation, most recently as Chief Scientist. Dr. Graham holds a master's degree and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley, as well as a B.S. in physics from the University of Alaska. He has won numerous awards in the field of mathematics, including the Polya Prize in Combinatorics and the Steele Prize for Lifetime Achievement from the American Mathematical Society.
