Nicholas H. Papas M.D., a native of Wadsworth, Ohio joined Akron Plastic Surgeons, Inc. in 1998 and brought with him several years of extensive experience as a board-certified plastic surgeon. Dr. Papas obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) in 1986. He completed a one-year rotating internship in Internal Medicine at Mt. Carmel Medical Center followed by five years of General Surgery training at Riverside Methodist Hospital, all in Columbus, Ohio. An additional two-year residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Akron, Ohio followed. Subsequently, Dr. Papas completed his ninth year of post-graduate residency and fellowship training in Louisville, Kentucky. Here he studied Hand & Microvascular Surgery at the world-renown Kleinert Institute. In addition to being fellowship-trained in Hand & Microsurgery, Dr. Papas is board-certified in both General Surgery (American Board of Surgery) and Plastic Surgery (American Board of Plastic Surgery). He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Ohio Valley Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (OVSPRS), the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA), and the American Medical Association (AMA). He has been granted privileges in Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery at all of the Greater Akron area hospitals. Dr. Papas, as Assistant Clinical Professor in Anatomy and in Plastic Surgery, participates actively in advisory and teaching roles at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM). He is also a Peer Development Advisory Team (PDAT) member, mentoring a group of students throughout their entire medical school tenure. As a volunteer, Dr. Papas has participated in Operation Rainbow, a medical mission to the Philippines. Outside of medicine, he also volunteers his time serving as a band booster and as the wrestling team physician for Wadsworth High School.
