(NASDAQ: AKZOY (ADR); AMS: AKZA) is the world's largest paint maker, among other businesses. The company operates in several segments. Coatings segment produces paints, stains, chemicals, auto finishes, and synthetic resins. Pharmaceuticals segment produces prescription and over-the-counter drugs. Chemicals segment produces specialty, functional, and commodity chemicals. The company has annual revenue of about ?13 billion and employs about 61,500 people. Akzo Nobel was listed on FTSE4Good Index in 2006. In 2005 it was selected as a member of the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, World and Stoxx.
