In 1999, Dr. Hatem El Sayed, of Port Said, Egypt, opened Al Masri to bring his cuisine and culture to the sophisticated palates of San Francisco. Today, Al Masri holds a coveted reputation for its dedication to authenticity. Al Masri is a collage of Egypt's seven thousand years of history and tradition. The ambiance takes its inspiration from the royal tomb of King Tut. Hand-painted images of Ancient Egyptian artwork grace the dancer's stage and main dining room; they continue throughout the Isis Room, which is a 12-guest private dining room.
