Mark C. Rohr is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Albemarle Corporation, a leading global developer, manufacturer and marketer of highly engineered specialty chemicals for a wide range of industries. Upon joining Albemarle in April 1999, Mr. Rohr was elected executive vice president of operations, with responsibility for the company’s Polymer and Fine Chemical global business units, global sales, marketing, and information resources. He was named president and chief operating officer in January 2000 and was elected to the company's board of directors in March 2001. In October 2002, he was named president and chief executive officer and, in August 2008, Mr. Rohr was appointed as chairman of the company's board. Under Mr. Rohr's leadership, Albemarle has substantially expanded its geographical footprint, diversified its product lines, and significantly increased shareholder return. Along with other strategic acquisitions, the company profitably integrated the Akzo Nobel refinery catalysts business, a move that has positioned Albemarle as a leading participant in the clean energy marketplace. The company has also expanded into new global markets including China and the Middle East through wholly-owned manufacturing/technical facilities and joint ventures. Since 2002, Albemarle has increased net sales from $1.0 billion to $2.3 billion; grown diluted earnings per share from $0.85 in 2002 to $2.36 in 2007; and declared annual dividends from $0.27 per share in 2002 to an annualized rate of $0.48 per share in 2008. Prior to joining Albemarle, Mr. Rohr was senior vice president for the Specialty Chemicals group of Occidental Chemical Corporation in Dallas, Texas, where he was responsible for a diverse portfolio of businesses. He has over 20 years of experience in the chemical industry, including assignments at Cain Chemical, Corpus Christi Petrochemical Company and Dow Chemical, with international experience in Asia, Latin America, and Europe. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Celanese Inc. A native of Kentucky, Mr. Rohr received B.S. degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering from Mississippi State University in 1975 and 1977, respectively. He also completed the Executive M.B.A. Program at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1989.

Dr. David W. Clary serves as Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of Albemarle Corporation. In this role, Dr. Clary oversees the company's technology groups to accelerate the creation and commercialization of socially and environmentally sound products. He manages all aspects of Albemarle's global advocacy efforts to raise awareness of the safety and performance of the company's existing products, and also ensure that future products meet or surpass societal criteria. With over twenty years experience in process technology, research and development, and business management, Dr. Clary most recently served as Division Vice President of Albemarle’s Fine Chemistry Services group.

John M. Steitz was elected Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company, effective April 2007. Mr. Steitz is an industry veteran with nearly thirty years of experience in business management and administration activities. He joined Albemarle in July 2000 and has served in various roles of increasing responsibility during his tenure with the Company. Most recently, Mr. Steitz served as Senior Vice President, Business Operations, a role he assumed in October 2002. From July 2000 until October 2002, Mr. Steitz was Vice President of the Company's Fine Chemicals segment. Prior to joining Albemarle, he served as Vice President and General Manager of Pharmaceutical Chemicals for Mallinckrodt, Incorporated, a global provider of specialty healthcare products and a business unit of Tyco Healthcare.

Richard J. Diemer, Jr., joined our company and was elected Senior Vice President and CFO effective September 1, 2005. Before joining our company, Mr. Diemer a former partner with KPMG, served as Honeywell International’s (and predecessor Allied-Signal Inc.) corporate controller, vice president and chief financial officer of its Specialty Materials business group and most recently as senior portfolio manager – equities.

Luther C. Kissam, IV (“Luke”) serves as Executive Vice President of Albemarle where he oversees all aspects of the company’s manufacturing, legal and administrative business matters. Mr. Kissam was named Executive Vice President in May 2009. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President, Manufacturing and Law, and Corporate Secretary of Albemarle Corporation since March 2008. Mr. Kissam joined Albemarle and was elected Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary on September 30, 2003. Prior to joining Albemarle, Mr. Kissam served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Merisant Company and as Associate General Counsel of Monsanto Company. Mr. Kissam graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in English from The Citadel in 1986 and graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1989.

Dr. Niomi Krzystowczyk was promoted to Vice President of Albemarle’s Health, Safety and Environment division in March 2008. Dr. Krzystowczyk joined our company in 1991. Previously, Dr. Krzystowczyk served as Director of Corporate Product Stewardship, Corporate Risk Management and Sustainability for Albemarle’s HS&E division.

William M. Gottwald was elected Vice Chairman of our Board of Directors effective August 1, 2008. Dr. Gottwald previously served as Chairman of the Board since 2001. Prior to becoming Chairman, he served as Vice President—Corporate Strategy of our company since 1996. Dr. Gottwald joined our company in 1996 after being associated with Ethyl Corporation (provider of value-added manufacturing and supply solutions to the chemical industry and subsidiary of NewMarket Corporation) for 15 years in several assignments, including Senior Vice President and President of Whitby, Inc., an Ethyl subsidiary. Dr. Gottwald has been a member of our board of directors since 1999. He is also a director of Tredegar Corporation.
