Alcatel

Peter Sayer is bureau chief for IDG News Service in Paris. His beat covers IT and telecommunications across Europe -- but particularly Italy and France, including local companies France Telecom and Alcatel. He follows developments in intellectual property legislation, and plans to write more about the environmental impact of computing. Sayer has been reporting on European IT and networking for over a decade, but in his first job in journalism he wrote about architecture and the construction industry. Between 1996 and 1998, he edited two monthly magazines about mobile telecommunications, and then went on to edit the telecommunications pages of CMP's Network Week, joining the News Service in 1999. Aged 14 or so (his memory is hazy) Sayer won a programming contest run by British magazine 'Your Computer,' after editing his entry down from 14 lines of BASIC to just three densely-packed lines of code. His fascination with IT -- and editing -- had begun. He holds a masters' degree in electronic systems, from way back when ATM and GSM were but twinkles in the standards bodies' eyes. He is fluent in French and can get by in German and Italian, although he is most comfortable speaking his native British English. His efforts to learn Mandarin Chinese are advancing more slowly than he would like. Outside work, he enjoys cycling and is active in associations lobbying to make Paris safer for cyclists.

Mr. Wojcik has more than 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and a proven record of success as a technical and marketing executive with Alcatel, DSC Communications, Tellabs and Neutral Tandem. He has led sales, product and market development efforts to major Regional Bell companies, municipalities, and independent telephone operating companies including SBC, Qwest and MCI. He is now an executive at one of Rim Semiconductor s target customers. Alcatel is a global multi-billion dollar data and telecommunications manufacturer, and currently commands 40% of the worldwide DSLAM port shipments, according to Dittberner Associates. Rim Semiconductor s product, the Cupria family of transport processors, operates inside DSLAMs. At Alcatel, Mr. Wojcik served as vice president of sales where he developed and led a new broadband solutions organization, and also turned around a poor performing business group into a long term balanced revenue stream. Under his leadership, Alcatel achieved new incremental business growth of over 400% within a 30 month period including growing the broadband solutions market an incremental $40M while achieving high margins. Prior to joining Alcatel, Mr. Wojcik served in a variety of capacities with DSC Communications, which was purchased by Alcatel in 1998. He was instrumental in helping DSC establish its market leading position in DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) and NGDLC (Next Generation Digital Loop Carrier) with the Bell Operating companies and other major carriers. Mr. Wojcik also served at Chief Technical Officer and founder of Neutral Tandem Corporation where he co-developed the business plan and assisted with completion of the patent. Mr. Wojcik was a consultant to the company in 2005, and now advises as a member of our Technical Advisory Board.

Basil H. Alwan has served as a member of the board since September 2005. Since July 2003k Mr. Alwan has served as President of IP Products at Alcatel, a provider of communications solutions to telecommunication carriers, Internet service providers and - enterprises for delivery of voice, data and video applications. Prior to that Mr. Alwan was a founder and President and Chief Executive Officer of Tamera Networks, a provider of service routing technology, from January 2000 until the acquisition of TiMetra by Alcatel in July 2003. In addition to Omneon, Mr. Alwan currently serves on the boards of directors of several privately-held companies. Mr. Alwan holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois.

Francois Behague has been the Vice President Technology Strategy at Alcatel-Lucent since November 2000. Mr. Behague is in charge of monitoring the overall Alcatel-Lucent make versus buy strategy analysis.

Sri Reddy is vice president of engineering for Edge Router Software Development at Alcatel. Sri joined Alcatel via its acquisition of TiMetra, which he co-founded in 2000 coming from Nortel Networks where he was VP of Engineering for the Enterprise Products Division. He has also led development efforts for stackable switches, hubs and network management modules for Bay Networks and Synoptics. Earlier in his career, Sri was an engineering manager at Unisys/Convergent, where he was responsible for networking hardware and software for UNIX workstations.

Phil has over 25 years of senior management experience with carrier class network equipment suppliers. This experience includes the General Manager role for Alcatel's Signaling Products Division and prior to that the General Manager position for DSC Communications-Ireland. During his career, he has held senior management positions with Stromberg Carlson, Telex Computer Products-Telcom Division, DSC Communications and most recently with Alcatel SS7 and Broadband Data Products divisions. He has extensive experience in both domestic and international outsourcing as well as management of large organizations.

Matthew Bocci is Director of Technology and Standards with Alcatel-Lucent's IP Division. He is a regular contributor to the IETF and MFA Forum, particularly in the areas of pseudo-wires, OAM and traffic management. He is chair of the MFA Forum Interworking working group, and was chair of the AIC working group of the ATM Forum. He is also co-author of a number of IETF drafts on MPLS-based converged networks. Previously, Matthew provided advanced technical consulting to Alcatel R&D and customers in traffic management, signaling and network performance. He is author of a number of technical publications in network modeling, resource management, and in ATM-MPLS interworking, as well as Alcatel application notes in QoS and traffic management. Matthew joined Alcatel through the acquisition of Newbridge Networks. He holds a PhD in ATM network modeling from Queen Mary & Westfield College, London, and is a member of Alcatel Technical Academy and the Institution of Electrical Engineers.

Mr. Stoker consults to endowments, foundations, high net-worth individuals, and public and private companies on investment management and policy, fiduciary responsibility, custody, and trust issues. Mr. Stoker is responsible for overseeing all client service at WaterStreet Investment Consultants, LLC. Prior to forming WaterStreet Investment Consultants, Mr. Stoker was a Senior Institutional Consultant with the Consulting Group of Smith Barney for 19 years. Previous positions include: Senior Financial Analyst with Cooper Industries in Houston and Dallas, Texas; Senior Financial Analyst and Corporate Cash Manager with DSC Communications (Alcatel) in Richardson, Texas; and 2nd Lieutenant, U.S. Army, FA, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Mr. Stoker is a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA), a designation offered by The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania). Mr. Stoker is the past president of The Association of Professional Investment Consultants (APIC). In 2004 he received the Association's highest award of achievement for years of service, stewardship, and commitment to membership, the Tom Gorman Award. Mr. Stoker received the Consulting Group's Professionalism Award in 1992, the Smith Barney 401(k) Consultant of the Year Award in 1993, and the Harry Irvine Award for ethics and commitment to clients in 1997. Mr. Stoker is a CFA Candidate.

Mustapha Aissaoui is a Product Manager in the IP Division of Alcatel-Lucent. He holds an Electrical Engineering Diploma from Polytechnic School of Algiers and a MASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ottawa. He is an active participant of the IETF PWE3 and L2 VPN working groups, the MPLS/FR Alliance, and the ATM Forum. Mustapha is a co-author and major contributor of multiple papers, including: draft-ietf-pwe3-atm-encap-07.txt (ATM PW), draft-ietf-pwe3-oam-msg-map-00.txt (PW OAM) and draft-aissaoui-l2vpn-vpws-iw-oam (PW OAM interworking).

Doug Jacobs has over 25 years of successfully growing sales in both start-up and established telecom equipment organizations including Lucent, DSC Communications and Alcatel. Held senior executive sales and marketing leadership positions in these companies with sales responsibility in North America, Europe and Asia. Experienced at product introduction and on-going sales and marketing of switching, transmission and access equipment to wireless and wireline service providers globally.

Greg manages the creative department, mentors the creatives and supervises all creative work. Since joining M/C/C in 1992, Greg has worked on accounts ranging from Sony, Fujitsu, Alcatel and Vari-Lite to CapRock Communications, Nokia, Ericsson and Raytheon. Prior to M/C/C, he worked as Art Director at Gleason Associates on both B2B and consumer accounts including DSC (now Alcatel), State Fair Foods and Dalfort Aviation. He started his career in JCPenney's advertising department. Throughout his career, Greg has won several prestigious awards including numerous TOPS (Dallas Addy) and MarCom awards. Greg holds a bachelor's degree in advertising from the University of Texas. He has served on the board of the Dallas Ad League and remains an active member.

Hugh Scandrett joined Ounce Labs as President and CEO after serving as vice president of development for IBM Rational. His responsibilities there included executive leadership and engineering management for the family of Rational products, which exceeded $750 million before the IBM acquisition. Prior to this position, he was vice president and general manager for software change management at Rational Software, leading the Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest business units. During his tenure there, he helped drive substantial increases in market share, new channel development, and several highly successful product releases. Hugh has over 25 years of experience in the enterprise software and telecommunications industries, holding senior product engineering positions at DSC Communications (acquired by Alcatel in 1998) as well as various software management and engineering leadership positions at Nortel. Canadian born, he earned his bachelors degree in computer science from the University of Western Ontario and began his career as a software engineer.

Jon Hindar, MSc., born 1957, was elected as a Director in Photocure in 2006. He is CEO of NorSun AS. Prior to joining NorSun, Mr. Hindar was Senior Vice President of the Life Sciences Division in Invitrogen. He was president and CEO of Dynal Biotech from 2002 until Invitrogen's acquisition of Dynal in April 2005. Mr. Hindar has 10 years experience in R&D from various positions with Alcatel and BP Chemicals and another 10 years experience in various General Manager roles in the chemical industry. Before joining Dynal, Mr. Hindar was Managing Partner for five years at the Norwegian investment bank; Fondsfinans. Mr. Hindar is an alumni of IMD (Lausanne, Switzerland) where he joined the Executive Development program in 1993/94. Mr Jon Hindar holds 5,000 shares in Photocure. He holds no share options in the company.

Ken has 30 years of international experience at the forefront of the communications industry working among creative technology centered startups and multinational giants like Siemens, Alcatel and ITT on all aspects of Communications System Analysis, Software Design and Information Architectures. He holds a dozen patents in these fields and has been an invited speaker at conferences in Europe and North America on security, object based design, operating systems, communication architecture and distributed systems. Ken brings to EIG unique system analysis and program management expertise for large and small, public and private networked services. His specialist knowledge on the effective delivery of integrated voice and data application has enabled EIG to expand Best Practice services to include delivery and test. He has been a pioneer in EIG's use of automated test tools for voice services and plays a leadership role in developing integrated design and test methods for our customers.

Mr. Limel is the owner of L-CUBED Communications Microwave Systems and Services in Dallas, Texas, providing services and equipment to microwave users. Mr. Limel has over thirty years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Starting with GTE Lenkurt in 1970 with the installation and testing of PCM cable carrier and analog point-to-point microwave systems, Mr. Limel became a field engineer in 1978 with Collins Radio Co., which changed its name to Rockwell International in 1979. Over the next ten years he held several other positions, including system engineer, network design engineer and transmission engineer. In 1988, he returned to the field department as a senior engineer. In 1990, he became a senior engineer for microwave and light wave systems in the customer technical support group. In 1992, his division was acquired by Alcatel USA. Mr. Limel is currently a senior engineer in the customer technical group at Alcatel for fixed wireless systems.

Mahesh has over 15 yrs of extensive experience in telecom industry, working in various capacities in the areas ranging from sales, marketing & presales. He has worked in the field of Data networking and VAS solutions for Mobile operators. Coming from technical background, he was written approach papers on softswitch & OSS market scenario. Mahesh has strong experience in new business initiatives and served in the organizations like Siemens, Alcatel and Bharti Telesoft. He is responsible for driving TeleDNA's sales and marketing functions. Mahesh has done BE in electronic and communications from Dharwad University.

Michael Scheppach has held key executive positions with domestic and international responsibilities for business units of global wire and cable manufacturers including Tyco Electronics, Nexans (formerly Alcatel Cable) and Draka. He brings over 30 years experience in sales, marketing and business development within the electrical, electronic and communications industries. A graduate from California State University he also holds a Six Sigma Certification from Villanova University.

Founder Michel Oger received his MSEE degree in microelectronics and digital signal processing from the University of Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium). After serving as a design engineer for Alcatel in 1985-87, Mr. Oger joined the university spin-off IRIS (Image Recognition Integrated Systems) as an application engineer. From 1989 to 1995, he was director of marketing and sales for IRIS and helped the company grow from a startup to a public company. As one of the founders of Snaketech in 1996, Mr. Oger served on the board and was vice-president of business development. He continued in this role after the merger with Simplex, until acquisition by Cadence in 2002. A passionate paraglider pilot and musician, Mr. Oger is hoping that founding DeFacTo will still leave him the odd moment for these pursuits.

Ron is a multi-faceted telecommunications executive with over 23 years of experience in the industry beginning as a development engineer, progressing to product management, marketing and then into sales. Ron has held management positions with the large telecom equipment firms of Alcatel, DSC and Nortel, and has played key roles with the start-ups of Raynet, PixStream and Alloptic. Prior to joining AirWalk, Ron was responsible for international sales with Alloptic, which introduced one of the first Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Networking systems. Before that, Ron headed sales and tactical partnerships for the U.S. for PixStream, a video networking company, which was acquired by Cisco. Previously, Ron held a number of senior positions with Alcatel / DSC Communications in marketing, strategic solutions and sales in which he focused on LMDS, DSL and triple play access solutions.In addition, Ron has held leadership roles with Raynet and Nortel in product management and development engineering, where he worked with NGDLC access systems, HFC video, TDMA and AMPS cellular technologies. Ron holds a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from Oklahoma State University and a M.S. in Telecommunication Management & Systems from Southern Methodist University.

Spar Aerospace/GS Telecom provides service for world-leading industries like Mobil, Chevron, MTN, Ericson, Siemens, Cisco Nigeria, DHL, Larfarge, Alcatel, and the Central Bank of Nigeria. Shola has over 7 years experience in the IT industry, with experience in Networking, Communication, Training, Electronic Transaction systems, Elecronic Prepaid System and Billing Platforms, Security systems , Disaster recovery and Storage management Systems. Presently, our customers manage over 31TB of storage and they are still expanding depending on the network growth and demand. Before joining Spar Aerospace/G.S. Telecom, Shola worked with the only Third Party Processor for MasterCard in West Africa Cards Technology (Nig) Limited as the Assistant Manager of IT/Telecommunications. Shola has a Degree (B.Eng) in Electrical Engineering from University of Ilorin in Nigeria and Cisco Certification with other in house training on IT/Communications.

Tom joined TravTech as CTO in June 2003. Prior to that he was CTO at Gemplex Inc, a global supplier of IP-based Virtual Private Networks. As Vice President, Engineering at Primus Inc, he lead the construction of their international ATM, Frame Relay and IP network. He has held senior technology assignments at Cable & Wireless USA and DSC Communications (now Alcatel).

Allison Cerra is Director of North American Consumer Marketing for Alcatel. Prior to joining Alcatel in 2003, Allison spent 12 years with GTE/Verizon where she held a variety of product management and marketing positions supporting the company's wireless, long distance, local and data products. She holds two BS degrees from the University of South Florida and MBA and Masters of Telecommunications degrees from Southern Methodist University.
