Mark Nichollas (56) was appointed Non-executive Chairman in November 2005. Our Chairman, Chief Ogunshola is the first black African to obtain the fellowship by examination, of the Institute of Actuaries England, in 1973. He also holds a B.Sc degree in Mathematics. He was the first Chief Executive Officer of Niger Insurance Plc from 1974 to 1985. He has been a member of the 5-man committee of Actuaries for the United Nations Staff Pension fund since 1975. The fund has about 80,000 members and assets in excess of $30 billion. He is the present Chairman of the Committee. He has also headed technical committees set up by Federal Government of Nigeria to advice on pension matters, on two different occasions (in 1988 and 2000). He was also the foundation President of Nigeria Actuarial Society (1982).

Prior to that he headed a special initiatives division at a major South African bank focusing primarily on acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances. In addition, he spent a number of years in strategic management consulting with a global strategy consultancy, and has experience in building a start-up business.
