Dr. David Brooks sees both inpatient and outpatients at Archway Mental Health Services at St. Alexius Medical Center. As a Neuropsychologist, Dr. Brooks can assess and advise others with information regarding changes in thinking and behavior for individuals with a brain injury, stroke, suspected dementia or other neurological disorders. Dr. Brooks also evaluates, treats and provides psychotherapy for adults with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and/or anxiety. Dr. Brooks also provides pre-surgical psychological evaluations for weight loss surgeries, neuro-surgical procedures, etc. Dr. Brooks received his PhD in the Neuropsychology concentration of the school psychology program at Ball State University. He is board certified by the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology and by the American Board of Professional Psychology (Rehabilitation Psychology).

Heidi Goldstein, MD, a specialist in physical medicine (physiatrist), has joined the St. Alexius Specialty Clinics. Dr. Goldstein is uniquely qualified to treat pediatric conditions including: Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Birth Brachial Plexus Palsy, Torticollis, traumatic brain injury, congenital and acquired amputations, and both acute and long-term spinal cord injury. Pediatric physiatrists also provide prescriptions for durable medical equipment such as wheelchairs, bracing, and communication devices. They also manage children with muscle diseases such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy and spinal muscular atrophy, pediatric burns, and a myriad of congenital disabilities. Dr. Goldstein earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree from State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center at Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Goldstein completed an internship in Internal Medicine at The Graduate Hospital-Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA; a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Temple University Hospital and Moss Rehab Hospital, in Philadelphia and a fellowship in Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Children?s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Carlson is an accomplished medical doctor with over 19 years of experience as an orthopaedic surgeon, the last 14 years as a partner at the Bone and Joint Center in Bismarck, ND. Dr. Carlson has extensive research and teaching experience through his time serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. In 1999-2000, he was awarded the Wayne Swenson, M.D. award for teaching excellence. Dr. Carlson has also served as Team Physician for the University of Mary and the Dakota Wizards professional basketball team. Dr. Carlson serves on the board of directors for the Bone and Joint Center, and is also a board member for the Bismarck Surgical Associates and the Delta Waterfowl organization. He received his B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of North Dakota, and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Akron Medical Center. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Carlson has served as a member of the Intelligent InSites board of directors since May 25, 2006.

Kevin Robert Dahmen, MD is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with St. Alexius Medical Center, Archway Mental Health Services. Dr. Dahmen is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. Melissa Horner, FNP is a nurse practitioner for Archway and works specifically with Dr. Johnson. Horner received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and her Master?s Degree in Nursing from the University of Mary in Bismarck. Horner worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Alexius for six years. Dr. Peter White is an anesthesiologist and specialist in critical care medicine affiliated with the Heart & Lung Clinic in Bismarck. Shanthan Pendem, MD is an intensivist who works primarily in the St. Alexius Intensive Care Unit (ICU). An Intensivist is a physician trained specifically in the care of critically ill patients, who spends all or the majority of his time exclusively in the intensive care unit. ICUs with Intensivists generally have better outcomes compared to those without. It is estimated that less than fifteen(15) percent of all hospitals in the United States have Intensivists working in their ICUs. Pendem earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree from Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad, India, where he also completed his medical internship and completed an internship at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He then completed an Internal Medicine Residency at St. Vincent?s Medical Center (New York Medical College) in Staten Island, NY, and received "Best Resident" award for 2001-2002. Pendem completed a Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He is board certified in Critical Care Medicine and Internal Medicine and is licensed in both North Dakota and Minnesota. Pendem enjoys traveling and playing tennis.

Val Wangler is a North Dakota native and a graduate of Mary College and the University of Iowa, where he received a masters degree in social work. Val has been affiliated with St. Alexius Medical Center since 1982. He joined the staff of Archway Mental Health in 1986 as a Clinical Social Worker. Val provides mental health services to a wide variety of clients with concerns related to depression, anxiety, interpersonal problems, marital/family concerns, grief and abuse issues and situational stress.
