From September 2002 to April 2003, Mr. King served as President, Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors of Cognetix, Inc., a biopharmaceutical development company. From January 1994 to February 2001, Mr. King held various senior executive positions, including President and Chief Executive Officer from January 1997 to October 2000, and was a member of the board of directors at Anesta Corporation, a publicly traded pharmaceutical company, until it was acquired by Cephalon, Inc., a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company. Michael J. Simms has served as our Senior Vice President, Operations and Manufacturing since February 2008. From May 2007 to February 2008 Mr. Simms served as Senior Vice President, Manufacturing Operations and from June 2004 to May 2007 served as Vice President, Manufacturing of Nektar Therapeutics, a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company. From August 2002 to June 2004, Mr. Simms worked as an independent consultant to develop manufacturing strategies and business plans for various early stage and small commercial stage companies. Prior to this, Mr. Simms held executive level positions at various life science companies. Mr. Simms holds an M.B.A from Pepperdine University and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla.
Anthony G. Tebbutt has served as Alexza’s Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Business Development effective March 12, 2007. From September 1996 to October 2006, Mr. Tebbutt was President of UCB Pharma (USA) and a Senior Vice President of UCB, SA (Belgium). From July 1995 to August 1996, he was Vice President, Sales and Marketing at International Flavors and Fragrances. Prior to that from 1983 to 1995, Mr. Tebbutt served in senior commercial roles at Syntex Labs (USA), including Vice President, New Product Planning and Vice President, Pharmaceutical Marketing, as well as in commercial management positions for Syntex in England and in Canada. Prior to joining Syntex, Mr. Tebbutt worked at Eli Lilly Canada Inc. Mr. Tebbutt holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BSc degree from Santa Clara University.

Dr. Every is a cardiologist who has been with Frazier healthcare since 1999, became a partner in 2001 and General Partner in 2005. Dr. Every is responsible for evaluating opportunities in the medical device and biotech sectors. He was integral to the formation of Synecor, a first-of-its-kind accelerator company backed by researchers, corporations, clinicians and a leading investment bank. He founded and was start-up CEO for MacuSight, an ocular disease therapy company that was incubated at Frazier Healthcare. Dr. Every currently serves on the boards of directors at Apneon, Inc., BaroSense, Inc., BARRX, Inc., FlowCardia, Inc., InnerPulse, Inc., Juniper, MacuSight, PowerVision, Seattle Medical Technologies, Synecor LLC, and Xoft, Inc. He is also an observer on the board of Alexza Pharmaceuticals. Prior to joining the Frazier Healthcare, Dr. Every was an associate professor of medicine and the director of the Cardiovascular Outcomes Research Center (CORC) at the University of Washington, where he performed multiple studies evaluating the costs and outcomes of new procedures and pharmaceutical agents. His findings have been published in more than 75 scientific articles, including The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA and The Lancet. Dr. Every earned an M.D. from Emory University School of Medicine and a master of public health (M.P.H.) degree from the University of Washington School of Public Health, and he is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine.

Gordon Ringold, Ph.D. has served as a member of our Board since June 2001. Since March 2000, Dr. Ringold has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Alavita, Inc. From March 1995 to February 2000, Dr. Ringold served as Chief Executive Officer and Scientific Director of Affymax Research Institute where he managed the development of novel technologies to accelerate the pace of drug discovery. Dr. Ringold is also a member of the board of directors of Maxygen, Inc., a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company, and Oxonica plc, a publicly traded nanotechnology company.
