Estimating Velocity Fields on a Freeway From Low Resolution Video
They present an algorithm to estimate velocity fields from low resolution video recordings. The algorithm does not attempt to identify and track individual vehicles, nor does it attempt to estimate derivatives of the field of pixel intensities. Rather, they compress a frame by obtaining an intensity profile in each lane...

Decentralized Detection and Classification Using Kernel Methods
This paper considers the problem of decentralized detection under constraints on the number of bits that can be transmitted by each sensor. In contrast to most previous work, in which the joint distribution of sensor observations is assumed to be known, they address the problem when only a set of...

Supplement to "Consistent Independent Component Analysis and Prewhitening"
In this paper we study the statistical properties of a characteristic-function based algorithm for independent component analysis ICA. First, statistical consistency of this algorithm with pre-whitening is analyzed, especially under heavy-tailed sources. Second, without pre-whitening this algorithm is shown to be robust against small additive noise.

A Formulation and Solution Algorithm for Fuzzy Dynamic Traffic Assignment Model
This paper proposes a fuzzy dynamic traffic assignment model taking account of the imprecision and the uncertainties in the route choice process. By modeling the expressions of perceived travel times as fuzzy variables, this model makes possible a more accurate and realistic description of travelers' route choice process than its...
