Liz is responsible for software development, technical operations, business partnership management, and customer services at Alibris. Liz has previously been Alibris's VP of Engineering, and has more than 20 years of experience in a broad range of phases and types of software development. Prior to joining Alibris, she was founder and VP of Engineering for MiaVia, a spam filtering company. Previously, she served as VP of Engineering at Egreetings, held senior software development management positions at Autodesk and Informix, and began her career as a software developer for Amdahl. She holds a BSE in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Florida.

Michael is responsible for the strategy and direction of technology at Alibris. He has over 20 years of experience in software development and management. Previously, Michael was VP of Engineering at Interactive Bureau, LLC, an Internet services agency, where he managed the San Francisco office. Prior to that, Michael held management positions at Documentum, Inc. and at Sybase, Inc., where he built a cross-functional team of technical and content staff to develop the company's Web site. He also co-founded Pensoft Corporation, an early developer of pen-based computing. Michael holds a BS in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

Gabriel is responsible for managing our accounting, financial planning, and treasury functions. Prior to joining Alibris, Gabriel was a Corporate Group Controller at United Parcel Service and was with the company for nearly 12 years, where he served in a variety of operations, marketing, reporting, and financial management positions. Gabriel earned a BA in Economics from the University of California, San Diego, and an MBA in Finance from Golden Gate University, San Francisco.

Jeanie is responsible for leading the Marketing teams at Alibris. She has 15 years of experience in consumer and business segment marketing with Internet and financial-services companies. Prior to joining Alibris, Jeanie served as the SVP of Online Advertising and Customer Value Management for the Internet Services Group of Wells Fargo. Previously, she served as the VP of Global Direct Marketing at Yahoo!, head of marketing channel execution at E*TRADE Financial, and SVP of database marketing and market research at Bank of America. Jeanie has a B.A. from Colorado College and an M.S. from Georgetown University.

Mark manages procurement, global product distribution, cataloging, and fulfillment. Before Alibris, Mark created and ran an independent operations consulting practice based in Reno, Nevada, specializing in all aspects of logistics design and shipping with a strong financial management focus. Prior to that, he was with United Parcel Service for 15 years and held a variety of logistics and financial management positions, including responsibility for designing and managing a new regional distribution center. Mark earned an MBA in logistics and finance with academic honors from the University of Nevada.

Peggy is responsible for the care of our people and our community. She has worked in the human resources field in high-tech firms in Silicon Valley for the past 15 years. Prior to joining Alibris, Peggy served as VP of HR at Red Brick Systems and previously as VP of HR at Spectrum HoloByte. Peggy also developed the West Coast HR presence and infrastructure for KnowledgeWare. She began her high-tech HR career at Ingres. Peggy holds a BS in Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco.

Richard is responsible for the finance and accounting operations at Alibris. Previously, Richard was Director of Finance at Signatures Network, a global music merchandising and ecommerce company based in San Francisco, where he managed the forecasting, accounting and reporting functions for the business. He has over 12 years experience in financial, legal and accounting matters and began his career as an auditor in the UK. Richard is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from King's College, London.

Dick is a leading writer, speaker, and consultant on the computerization of the out-of-print book trade with over 27 years in the industry. He has owned and operated out-of-print and antiquarian book businesses and was a partner in Seattle's largest antiquarian bookstore. In 1993, he created an electronic marketplace for books and in 1994 launched Interloc, the predecessor to Alibris. Weatherford holds a Ph.D. from UCLA and taught at the university level for 15 years.

Mary Barton is the pretty daughter of a factory worker who finds herself dreaming of a better life when the mill-owner's charming son, Henry, starts to court her.

Renee joined Alibris in the spring of 2007 and brings more than a decade of experience in sales to the library market. Renee holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism/Public Information from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In her position with Alibris, Renee works with libraries in the South/Central region, from Arizona to Florida. Bill joined Alibris in 2000 after a distinguished career in academic libraries and bookselling, having previously served as a public services librarian at Wayne State University, a systems librarian for the Detroit Area Library Network, as Associate Dean for Collection Development at the University of Detroit Mercy, and as Regional Sales Manager for Blackwell's Book Services. Bill received his MLS from the University of Pittsburgh, and his BA (in Comparative Literature) from Penn State University. In his current position as Regional Sales Manager for Alibris for Libraries, Bill meets and talks with librarians in the eastern half of the United States and Canada about combining new technology and hard-to-find books, working out of his North Carolina-based office. Abbie is responsible for many of the day-to-day functions of the Library Services Department, including helping customers with their inquiries, want list management, and supporting the department staff. Prior to Cornell, she was Sales and Marketing Manager of the Finnish filial of Organon International, a pharmaceutical subsidiary of Akzo Nobel.

Caroline is currently Head of the Acquisitions Department at the University of Georgia Libraries, 1990 to present. The Acquisitions Dept. purchases and copy catalogs all monographic materials for the UGA collection as well as processes all incoming gift donations made to the Libraries' general collection. In addition, she plays an active role in the Libraries' assessment work, chairing their Assessment Committee from 2004-present. Previous work experience includes positions in acquisitions and reference at the University of Southern Mississippi and as head librarian at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.

Ednita W. Bullock retired from the position of Collection Management Librarian at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She has library experience spanning nearly 40 years, with 33 of those years as a professional librarian. Her professional library experience has been at Bennett College, where she was employed as Technical Services Librarian and Head Librarian, and at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she has also been a cataloger and Head of the Acquisitions Department. Bullock is a member of ALA and NCLA.

Jane Brodsky Fitzpatrick is Acquisitions and Collection Development librarian at the City University of New York (CUNY), The Graduate Center, the Ph.D. granting institution at CUNY, in the heart of Manhattan. Before working at CUNY, she was Head of Technical Services & Acquisitions at the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College in the Bronx, for ten years. She received her MLS at Simmons College in Boston, and a second Master's degree in Liberal Studies at the CUNY Graduate Center. In a former life, she ran a family art supply and picture framing business in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Jim Gwin is currently the Head of Collections Development and Special Collections Librarian at the University of Richmond. Jim has worked in academic libraries and special libraries since 1970 and holds a Masters in Librarianship from Emory University and a second Masters in Public Policy from Virginia Commonwealth University. Jim is a member of ALA, VLA, PTPL, ACRL, and the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section.

Joann Janosko is Assistant Professor and Acquisitions/Serials/Electronic Resources Librarian at Indiana University of Pennsylvania [IUP] where she was awarded tenure in 2005. She holds a M.L.S. from University of Pittsburgh (1990) and is currently enrolled in their Library Science Ph.D program. She was inducted into the University of Pittsburgh's PI Chapter of Beta Phi Mu, the national honor society for library science, in 1990 and served as chair of Pi Chapter in 1997-8. She is also member of ALA, ACRL, LITA, NASIG, and PaLA [Pennsylvania Library Association]. She currently serves as treasurer for the Southwest Chapter of PaLA [2006-2007].

Kristina is currently Head of Acquisitions at Marquette University Libraries in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she is also a collection development librarian in social science subject areas and the Libraries' browsing collection. As a member of the Dean's Administrative Council, she has been involved in strategic planning, assessment, creating library-wide goals and objectives, and planning for a new building. She previously was a Slavic Bibliographer at the University of Washington, and the Russian and East European Studies Librarian at Ohio State University.

Marlene Slough joined the library faculty at Eastern Illinois University in 1993. She has held a number of positions, including reference librarian, head of periodicals, and head of circulation services. She is currently head of acquisition services. Marlene serves as subject bibliographer in the areas of art and family and consumer sciences. She received an MLIS from the University of Missouri-Columbia and an M. A. in English literature from Eastern Illinois University.

Mary S. Konkel is currently Associate Professor and Head of Technical Services at the College of DuPage Library. She holds an MLS from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an M.A. in Communication Studies from Governors State University. With more than 25 years of experience in librarianship, Ms. Konkel has held positions at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the University of Cincinnati, Governors State University, and the University of Akron. She is an active participant in educational, mentoring, leadership, technology, and health and wellness activities and has held numerous leadership positions in the library profession. An expert in the audiovisual cataloging arena, she specializes in supporting the information needs of the library community through acquisitions, cataloging, and library reference and instruction activities.

Michael A. Arthur is Head of Acquisitions & Collection Services at the University of Central Florida Libraries. Michael has been working in academic libraries since 1988. He is a member of the North American Serials Interest Group, the American Society for Public Administration, and Pi Alpha Alpha, the National Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration. Michael received an MLS from Indiana University, and an MPA from Old Dominion University.

Michael Wright is Head of Acquisitions and Rapid Cataloging at the University of Iowa. Before joining the staff at Iowa he was Member Services Librarian for the Denver-based regional library network, BCR. A native of Michigan with an MALS from the University of Minnesota, he has worked at libraries in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Iowa.

Norman Desmarais is a professor and acquisitions librarian at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. He is an active member of ALA and frequent speaker at The Charleston Conference. He was Founding Editor and Editor-in-Chief of Electronic Resources Review, Senior Editor of CD-ROM World and Editor-in-Chief of CD-ROM Librarian. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of The Brigade Dispatch: The Journal of the Brigade of the American Revolution. Norman is a prolific author of many articles and books on technology, librarianship, and history. His latest book is Battlegrounds of Freedom: A Historical Guide to the Battlefields of the War of American Independence and he is currently working on a companion volume that will cover the raids and skirmishes.

Rich Paustenbaugh is the Associate Dean for Research and Instruction Services at Oklahoma State University, where he has worked since 1990. Prior to 1990 Rich was a reference librarian at the Business/SPEA Library at Indiana University. Rich has a B.A. from Hanover College and an MLS from Indiana University.

Bob Holley is Professor of Library & Information Science at Wayne State University, where he teaches collection development and continues to select materials in the Romance Languages for the library. In 2005, he published a research study on the effect of the Internet on the out-of-print book market that found 90-95% availability and significantly lower prices. Bob has been a small, out-of-print, Internet book vendor for almost two years and hopes to join the Alibris team shortly. He has given several presentations and workshops on his research and experiences as an out-of-print vendor and plans to do a second research study on the availability of scholarly materials.

Steve Corrsin graduated from Pomona College in Claremont, California, and received an MLS and a Ph.D. in Russian and European History from the University of Michigan. He was curator of the Bakhmeteff Archive of Russian and East European History and Culture at Columbia University. He has been a librarian at Columbia, Princeton, Brooklyn College of CUNY, Columbia again, Wayne State University in Detroit, and the Research Libraries of NYPL. What he enjoys most about acquisitions work is the opportunity to spend millions of dollars of other people's money every year.
