Allegheny Energy lets you see the light. Allegheny Energy, Inc. (NYSE : AYE), this $3 billion company was incorporated in 1925 and is headquartered in Greensburg, PA. The work force totals 4,460 people. The company operates electric and natural gas transmisson and distribution systems. It provides electricity to customers in five states and natural gas through its regulated utilities Monongahela Power, Potomac Edison, and West Penn Power. Its various subsidiaries sell electricity to wholesale and retail customers, offers telecommunications, and energy consulting. In addition, the company proposes to build an Interstate Line from West Virginia to Central Maryland to expand its transmission system. In January 2006 the company completed the sale of its Ohio service territory to Columbus Southern Power Company, a subsidiary of American Electric Power Company.

Mr. Freidheim was appointed as the Sun-Times Media Group President and Chief Executive Officer in November 2006. From 2002 to 2004, Mr. Freidheim was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chiquita Brands International Inc., a major producer, marketer and distributor of fresh produce.
