Admiral Dan Murphy is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Alliant Techsystems (ATK), a premier aerospace and defense company with more than 18,000 employees and revenue in excess of $4.7 billion.
Dan was elected Chairman of the Board in April 2005. He was named Chief Executive Officer in October 2003, after having served as President of the ATK Precision Systems Group, one of four business groups that then comprised the operations of ATK. Before that he was President of ATK Tactical Systems, a division within the Precision Systems Group.
Dan joined ATK following a U.S. Navy career. While a flag officer, Dan served as Commander Sixth Fleet, Commander NATO Striking and Support Forces Southern Europe, Commander Eisenhower Battle Group, and Director of Surface Warfare. He retired with the rank of Vice Admiral in December 2000.
Dan is a 1970 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. In addition, he has achieved his Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.
Dan also serves on the Board of Directors of Precision Castparts Corp.
John L. Shroyer is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Alliant Techsystems (ATK), a premier aerospace and defense company with more than 18,000 employees and revenue in excess of $4.7 billion.
John was named to his current position in April 2006 after having served as Vice President of Operations since November 2005. Before that, he was Vice President and General Manager, ATK Ordnance Systems, one of three divisions within the ATK Precision Systems Group.
John joined Honeywell in 1986 as a staff accountant. He held a series of key accounting positions including International Finance Director for ATK’s demilitarization operations and Finance Director and Program Manager for ATK Precision Fuze Company. In April 1998, John moved to ATK’s manufacturing facility in Rocket Center, West Virginia, as Director of Business Management. He was promoted to Vice President and Treasurer in February 2000. In that position, he became the primary interface with the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) on the facility restoration program.
In September 2001, John was named Vice President, ATK Tactical Systems. He was promoted to President of ATK Tactical Systems in April 2002 and named Vice President and General Manager, ATK Ordnance Systems, in April 2004.
John holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota.
John J. Cronin (Jack) is Senior Vice President and President, ATK Mission Systems, for Alliant Techsystems (ATK), a premier aerospace and defense company with more than 18,000 employees and revenue in excess of $4.7 billion.
Prior to joining ATK in April 2006, Jack was President of Raytheon Systems Ltd. (RSL), United Kingdom, where he led an organization with multiple defense and commercial products ranging from individual components to total integrated systems. RSL serves as the prime contractor on a number of major defense programs including Airborne Stand-Off Radar (ASTOR) and Paveway IV Precision Guided Bomb.
Jack joined Raytheon Company in 1986 as a program manager and engineer and subsequently held a series of business development and corporate development positions. In 1998, he was named Director of Advanced Systems, where he was responsible for Advanced Naval Radars including SPY-3 and the management of a significant portfolio of special programs. A year later, he was promoted to Vice President for Future Surface Combatants and Deputy General Manager for Naval and Maritime Integrated Systems. In this capacity, Jack was leader for DD(X), the U.S. Navy’s next-generation destroyer for which Raytheon serves as the systems integrator. He was selected to lead Raytheon’s United Kingdom operations in 2003.
A 1978 graduate of the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, Jack served on active duty as a U.S. Army officer and helicopter pilot for eight years. He holds a Master of Science degree in systems management from the University of Southern California.
ATK Mission Systems one of the three business groups that comprise ATK, and has sales in excess of $1.2 billion and approximately 5,800 employees. The group operates in four business lanes: space, aerospace, weapons, and technical services.
Keith D. Ross is Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary for Alliant Techsystems (ATK), a premier aerospace and defense company with more than 18,000 employees and revenue in excess of $4.7 billion.
Keith joined ATK in 2001 as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel with responsibility for strategic transactions, risk management, and antitrust issues. As the chief legal counsel for corporate mergers and acquisitions, he has played a key role in a series of strategic acquisitions that have helped transform ATK into an advanced weapon and space systems company.
Keith began his law career as a judicial clerk with the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1985. The following year, he joined the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher where he specialized in bankruptcy, transactional and securities law, and litigation in the firm’s Dallas office. In 1996, he was named Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Honeywell, Inc. He joined ReliaStar Financial Corp. as Counsel in 2000 and returned to Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in 2001.
Keith received a Juris Doctor and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas.
Mark L. Mele is Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy for Alliant Techsystems (ATK), a premier aerospace and defense company with more than 18,000 employees and revenue in excess of $4.7 billion.
Mark began his career in 1979 with Hercules Aerospace Company, a division of Hercules Inc. in Magna, Utah, where he held a series of accounting, finance, and planning positions. In 1988, he transferred to Hercules corporate headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, to take over responsibility for strategic planning and business development for Hercules Aerospace Company. His accountabilities included market research, business planning, and new product development.
Mark was Manager, New Product Development, for Hercules Aerospace Company when the company was acquired by ATK in 1995. Following the acquisition, he was named Director of Business Planning for ATK.
In 1998, Mark was appointed Vice President, Strategic Planning, with responsibility for business planning, market analysis, strategic assessment, and mergers and acquisitions. He was named Vice President, Investor Relations and Strategic Planning, the following year, and Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Investor Relations, in 2001. He was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2004.
A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mark holds a Bachelor’s degree in finance from Tulane University and a Master’s degree in management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Paula J. Patineau is Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Administrative Services, for Alliant Techsystems (ATK), a premier aerospace and defense company with more than 18,000 employees and revenue in excess of $4.7 billion. She is responsible for strategic human resource planning, compensation and benefits, HR shared services, organizational development, and talent management.
Paula began her career in 1976 as an accountant with Sperry Univac Corporation. She joined Honeywell the following year and held a number of staff accounting and finance leadership positions with both Honeywell and ATK. She was named Vice President and Corporate Controller for ATK in 1997 and promoted to Vice President and Senior Financial Officer three years later.
In 2000, Paula was named Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer. Since then, she has led a number of key human resources initiatives including the establishment of a shared services organization and a redesign of the company’s compensation and benefit programs.
Paula holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Prior to being named to his current position in 2006, Michael was President, ATK Mission Research, a leading developer of advanced technologies for military space, strategic and tactical applications, and homeland security needs. He also served as Vice President, Business Development for ATK, with responsibility for external growth through corporate mergers and acquisitions and organic growth through business development strategies.
Michael began his career in 1980 as a research scientist with Honeywell. During the next twenty years, he served in several key leadership positions while at Honeywell and subsequently at ATK. These included program and general management, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, and Vice President, Corporate Strategic Development, where he led corporate-wide strategic planning.
Michael was named Vice President, Mergers and Acquisitions, in June 2001, and led a series of strategic acquisitions that transformed ATK into an advanced weapon and space systems company. He became Vice President, Business Development, in November 2004.
A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Michael received his bachelor’s degree from Hamline University. He also attended the College of St. Thomas MBA program and is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business Management Executive Program.
Steve Wold is Vice President, Treasurer, and Investor Relations at Alliant Techsystems (ATK), a premier aerospace and defense company with more than 18,000 employees and revenue in excess of $4.7 billion.
Steve was appointed Treasurer in November 2006. He joined ATK in 1996 as Manager of External Reporting and also served as Director of Banking and Tax before being promoted to Vice President Investor Relations in 2001.
Steve joined ATK following more than seven years in Deloitte & Touche’s Minneapolis audit practice.
Steve is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, where he received his Bachelor of Accounting. In addition, he is a Certified Public Accountant.
Blake E. Larson is Senior Vice President and President, ATK Space Systems, for Alliant Techsystems (ATK), a premier aerospace and defense company with more than 18,000 employees and revenue in excess of $4.7 billion.
Blake was named to his current position in 2009. He previously served as Executive Vice President ATK Space Systems and ATK Mission Systems and has held a variety of other leadership positions including Senior Vice President and President, ATK Advanced Propulsion and Space Systems; Vice President and General Manager, ATK Composites; Executive Vice President, ATK Ordnance and Ground Systems; President, ATK Precision Fuze Company; and President, ATK Power Sources Company.
Blake has also held a number of management positions in systems engineering, electrical design, software design and test, and system test equipment during his 27- year career with Honeywell and ATK. He also served as Business Segment Director for ATK’s Guided Weapons Business Segment. During these assignments, Blake worked closely with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army on technology, development, and production programs.
A native of Minnesota, Blake holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology. He also received his Master of Science degree in Management of Technology from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management.
Brian P. Cullin is Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications for Alliant Techsystems (ATK), a premier aerospace and defense company with more than 18,000 employees and revenue in excess of $4.7 billion. Brian is ATK’s senior executive responsible for the corporation’s external and internal communications and strategy.
Brian joined the company in 2007 with almost thirty years of experience at the highest levels of the U.S. government and industry with key communication roles in some of the most demanding national security operations. He previously served as Director of Communications for Foreign Policy Studies at The Brookings Institution, and before that as Director of Communications for Northrop Grumman Ship Systems.
Brian is a retired U.S. Navy captain with 24 years of service. His career accomplishments include serving as Assistant White House Press Secretary and Director, NSC Press Office, where he played a key role in the development and execution of U.S. communications policies in the Balkans, Africa, and the Middle East. Brian also led the Joint Staff taskforce in the fall of 2002 for the public affairs planning for Operation Iraqi Freedom, originating and recommending large-scale media embedding plan for U.S. forces and the implementation of first-of-its-kind media basic training. He served the Secretary of Defense in contingency peacekeeping throughout Africa in the 1990’s establishing press centers in Kenya, the Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Somalia. He also played an instrumental role in communications planning for the liberation of Haiti.
During mid-1980's Brian served the Office of Secretary of Defense in the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq War supporting international press covering U.S. operations in wake of attacks on USS Stark and USS Robertson.
Brian holds an M.A. in National Security Studies from the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, and a B.A. in History from the College of William and Mary.

Steve joined ATK in 2006 with more than 20 years of experience in legislative affairs in both the public and private sectors. He previously served as Vice President, Programs and Budgets, in the Washington Operations office of Lockheed Martin.
From 1986 to 2003, Steve worked for the Senate Appropriations Committee. He served in a number of key staff leadership positions including Minority and Majority Staff Director for both the full Appropriations Committee and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.

Cynthia (Cyndi) Lesher, president and CEO, Northern States Power Company-Minnesota, an Xcel Energy company has been named president of the Minnesota host committee for the Republican National Convention, which will be held in the Twin Cities Sept 1-4, 2008.
