It's my pleasure to welcome you to the web site of Allied Community Services and its subsidiaries: Allied Rehabilitation Centers and Allied Community Resources. We have been serving individuals with developmental disabilities, mental retardation, physical handicaps and acquired brain injuries since the early 1960s. Our current corporate structure, which we refer to as the "Allied Group," became effective July 1, 1999. Many people know us by one or more of our former names, but are not entirely familiar with Allied Community Services and its subsidiaries. Let me explain our corporate structure. Our agency was originally incorporated on October 20, 1964 as the "Enfield Association For Retarded Children." We operated for many years as the "Greater Enfield A.R.C." and in the 1990s as "Greater Enfield Allied Rehabilitation Centers." Allied Community Services is our "Parent Corporation." It is a not-for-profit tax exempt corporation that provides overall management and administration for the Allied Group. This includes Financial Services, Human Resources and Marketing support. There are two subsidiaries under Allied Community Services: Allied Rehabilitation Centers, a not-for-profit tax exempt subsidiary, provides program services and residential support to our consumers. These are funded by contracts and grants awarded by the state Department of Mental Retardation, various state and federal agencies and local businesses...
