Chairman, Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer, Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. Mr. Quillen has served as Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Natural Resources, Inc., since 2004 and has served as Chairman of the Board since 2006. Alpha Natural Resources, Inc., is a leading supplier of high quality Appalachian coal to electric utilities, steel and coke producers, and industrial customers.

Philip J. Cavatoni has served as our Treasurer and Executive Vice President - Finance and Strategy since February 2009. Before joining the Company, Mr. Cavatoni held various positions with JPMorgan Chase & Co., a global financial services firm (“JPM”), beginning in 1991. Mr. Cavatoni’s most recent position with JPM was as Managing Director and Head of the firm’s Global Paper, Packaging and Building Products practice, in which he served as the senior investment banker responsible for management of client relationships, advisory and financing transactions and the strategic allocation of capital across the sector. Additionally, Mr. Cavatoni was responsible for JPM’s Midwest Mergers & Acquisitions practice, coordinating the execution of transactions and business development for the firm’s Midwest clients.

Bruce worked for Pittston Coal Co. from 1985 to 2002 in various logistics and sales capacities. His last position was Vice President Met Coal Sales. He worked for North American Coal Co. from 1979 to 1983 as a Mining Engineer. Bruce earned a BS - Mining Engineering in 1979 and an MBA in 1985 from Penn State University. He also attended the Darden School of Business Executive Program in 1998.

Prior to joining the AMCI/Tanoma group in 1998, Ellis spent 22 years in various marketing positions with A. T. Massey Coal Co, including President of the sales subsidiary, Massey Coal Sales Company. From 1975 to 1977, he was in the fuel procurement group of Carolina Power & Light Co. Ellis earned a BS and an MBA from the University of South Carolina.

Marlin has 24 years experience in coal marketing and transportation with a primary focus on the Great Lakes market. Prior to joining AMCI/Tanoma in 1994, he was with Elk Horn Coal Sales and Koch Industries. Marlin attended the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, WI.

Prior to joining Alpha, Dan was Sourcing Manager for Bayer Material Science, responsible for the purchase of chemical raw materials to suppprt Bayer's plastics, coatings and polyurethane businesses. Before joining Bayer, he was Sourcing Manager for Bethlehem Steel Corp. for five years where he was responsible for the procurement and transportation of coal and coke for the company's coke plants and blast furnaces. Dan also spent 15 years in various engineering and operating positions with Bethlehem's underground coal mines in Kentucky, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. He earned a BS in Mining Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and an MBA from St. Francis College. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and Licensed Underground Mine Foreman.

Prior to joining AMCI/Tanoma group in 1995, Dennis spent 20 years in various Marketing and Operating positions with the Shawmut Companies and Rochester and Pittsburgh Coal Company. From 1976 to 1989, Dennis held various positions with R&P Coal Company, held positions from Production Engineer to Sales Liaison for United Eastern Sales Company and from 1990 to 1995 at Shawmut Companies developed sales for Utilities, Industrials and Cement accounts. Dennis attended the Graduate School of Radiological Technology in Indiana, University of Pennsylvania and Armstrong Hospital.

Jack has 30 years of experience in the coal industry. In his current position he has sales responsibility for international and domestic met coal sales. Prior to his current position, Jack was Vice President of AMCI Export Corp for 8 years. His coal industry experience began with Consol Energy in 1974 where he served in a number of positions, including in Financial and Export Sales. Jack earned a BS in business administration and an MBA from Robert Morris University in addition to a Masters degree in International Business from Point Park College.

Prior to becoming Manager of Eastern Coal Sales and Procurement for Alpha Natural Resources, Rick held similar responsibilities with AMCI and was part of the founding organization of Alpha Natural Resources. Rick has over 25 years of experience in the coal industry expanding from daily operations positions to Manager of Coal Sales. Beginning in 1977, Rick began his coal mining experience as an hourly employee of Paramont Coal Company. Then, after Pittston Coal Company acquired Paramont, Rick served in various management positions through 2001 such as Internal Auditor, Financial Analyst, Manager of Planning and Budgeting, Manager of Quality Control, Transportation and Manager of Eastern Utility Coal Sales. Rick earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Virginia's College at Wise.

Prior to joining Alpha Coal Cales Co. in May 2005, Frank worked for Alpha as a consultant for two years, and prior to that worked for Coastal Coal Co., LLC and its predecessors for 28 years. Frank served in many sales and marketing positions with Coastal, his last being Vice President. He earned a B.A. in History from the University of South Carolina in 1971 and a MALS in History and Economics from Hollins University in 1976.

Since receiving a BS from Mansfield University in 1974, Steve has been in the coal business for over 30 years. Starting in his family's business in the early 1980's, he has held various positions in production, quality control and sales. During the 1980's, Steve and his brother owned and operated strip operations in Western Pennsylvania. Since joining Tanoma in 1989, Steve has focused his attention on developing markets and facilities to blend both in house and brokered coal.

Ron recently completed ten years of service with Alpha Coal Sales and its predecessor companies AMCI and Tanoma Coal Sales. Prior to his association with ACS, Ron was the owner of Wycotah, Inc., a coal brokerage, consulting and mine supply company. He was Manager of Marketing for U. S. Fuel Company for nine years and was responsible for coal sales of mine production in both domestic and export markets. Ron earned a BS degree in Rec. Therapy from the University of Utah in 1965 and has been associated with the coal industry since 1973.

Frank worked as Midwest Sales Manager for Tanoma Energy for 11 years before joining Alpha Coal Sales LLC. Prior to that he worked at Elk Horn Coal Sales, River Trading Company and Koch Carbon Company developing sales markets for captive production of coal and/or petroleum coke.

Kevin worked for AMCI Export Corp. from 1995-99 in various transportation, distribution, field and purchasing capacities. Prior to joining Alpha in 2004, Kevin worked for Standard Laboratories in a technical sales capacity. Kevin earned a BS in Business Management from St. Vincent College in 1995.

Rick has 30 years of experience in various positions in the coal industry. Prior to joining Alpha Coal Sales in 2004, Rick was President of Newhall Mining Co., a subsidiary of the AMCI Coal Group. From 1986 to 2000 he was President of Classic Coal Sales, with various mining and sales responsibilities. Prior to that, Rick worked for the Pittston Coal Group, A.T. Massey Coal Co. and Consolidation Coal Co. Rick graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from Bluefield State College in 1976.

Glenn A. Eisenberg is executive vice president – finance and administration and chief financial officer of The Timken Company. He also is an officer of the company. Eisenberg is responsible for the executive leadership of the company’s financial organization, including accounting, tax, treasury, audit, risk management, financial analysis and investor relations. He also has responsibility for strategic planning, corporate development, communications, community relations, information technology and shared services. He is a member of the company’s executive council. Since joining Timken in 2001, Eisenberg has been instrumental in executing Timken’s global growth and financial strategies, including the billion-dollar acquisition of The Torrington Company. Prior to joining the company, Eisenberg served as president and chief operating officer of United Dominion Industries, a diversified industrial manufacturing company with $2.5 billion in sales, prior to its acquisition by SPX Corporation. At UDI, he also held the positions of president – test instrument segment, executive vice president and chief financial officer and vice president – planning and development. Before joining UDI in 1990, he was a vice president at the Citizens and Southern Corporation. Eisenberg serves on the boards of directors for Family Dollar Stores Inc. (NYSE: FDO) and Alpha Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE: ANR). In addition, he serves on the boards of Aultman Hospital and the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and environmental studies from Tulane University and a master’s degree in business administration from Georgia State University.

Corporate Director. Dr. Draper retired as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbus, Ohio-based American Electric Power Co., Inc. in 2004, a position which Dr. Draper held since April 1993. Dr. Draper previously served as Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gulf States Utilities Company, Beaumont, Texas from 1987 to 1992. Dr. Draper holds a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Science and Engineering from Cornell University. Hermann Buerger has been a member of Sapient’s Board and Chairman of its Audit Committee since June 2006. He also serves on the Board for EMS Technologies, Inc. Buerger was formerly a Director at Paging Network, Inc., Ptek Holdings, Inc. (now Premier Global Services), Security Capital Group Incorporated and United Dominion Industries. The bulk of Buerger’s career was spent at Commerzbank AG, where he rose to the position of Regional Board Member and CEO of Americas. He has also served as a Trustee at the Virginia Tech Foundation and Co-Chairman of the Business Executive Council—the American Council of Germany. In addition, he has been a member of the International Advisory Council—Bankers’ Association of Foreign Trade Unibanco—San Paulo, Brazil, and has served as Vice Chairman of the Institute of International Bankers and a member of the Advisory Board at the Wharton Real Estate Center. Buerger earned a BA in Economics and an MBA from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. A US citizen, he was born in Germany and served in the US Army.

John S. Brinzo has been a member of our board of directors since October 2006. Mr. Brinzo has been affiliated with Cleveland-Cliffs, North America's largest producer of iron ore pellets, since 1967. He served in various operational finance roles and also as chief financial officer before becoming chief executive officer in 1997. In 2000 he was named chairman of the board. Mr. Brinzo retired from Cleveland-Cliffs as its CEO In September 2006 and has announced his intention to retire as chairman in early 2007. Mr. Brinzo served as chairman of the National Mining Association from 2005 to 2006, and currently is a director and chairman-elect of the Audit Committee at The Brink's Company. He is a former director of International Steel Group Inc.

Mary Ellen Bowers has been a member of our Board of Directors since May 2007 and is currently a member of the Audit Committee and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. Ms. Bowers is currently Chairman of MEB Solutions, LLC, a business consulting firm, and is a professor at the University of Wisconsin, teaching executive leadership within the Business School Masters Program. From November 2004 to June 2007, Ms. Bowers served as Executive vice president, Corporate Development of Manitowoc Company Inc., a manufacturer of engineered capital goods and support services. Prior to joining Manitowoc, Ms. Bowers served as Vice President & General Manager, Forged Aerospace & Industrial Products at Alcoa Inc., a producer and manager of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina facilities, from 2001 to 2004. Ms. Bowers’ service at Alcoa began in 1981 where she served in various positions, including engineering, finance and marketing with key leadership roles as Director, Alcoa Global, Business Design and Vice President & Director, Strategic Planning & Information Technology.
