American Campus Communities is one of the nation's largest developers, owners and managers of high-quality student housing communities. We led the industry to a new plateau in 2004 when we became the first publicly traded student housing REIT (NYSE: ACC). Since 1996, we've developed more than $1.5 billion in properties for our own account and our university clients, and we have acquired in excess of $2 billion in student housing assets. Also, we've become a national leader in third-party development and management of on-campus student housing, having been awarded the development of 46 on-campus projects (in addition to our 11 projects developed off campus). We have forged strong relationships through our on-campus developments: 11 of our college, university and system partners have called ACC back for 24 additional projects or phases after we completed their initial communities. A deep-rooted understanding of the industry drives the American Campus team. Seven members of our corporate staff at the level of vice president and above began their careers as resident assistants while attending college. William C. Bayless, Jr., our president and chief executive officer, is a co-founder of American Campus and serves on our board of directors. Prior to assuming the role of CEO in 2003, he served as our chief operating officer where he directed all of the company's business segments. From 1993 until July 1995, he served as our vice president of development. Prior to the formation of ACC, he served as the director of operations for Century Development's student housing division and as the director of marketing for the student housing division of Cardinal Industries. His student housing career began in 1984 with Allen & O'Hara where he held the positions of resident assistant, resident manager and area marketing coordinator. Mr. Bayless, who received a B.S. in Business Administration from West Virginia University, is considered one the nation's foremost experts on student housing.

Brian B. Nickel serves as our senior executive vice president of capital market strategies and chief investment officer where he leads the execution of all investment and growth activities. He is also a member of ACC’s board of directors. Mr. Nickel joined the company in June 1996 as the director of business development and has progressively contributed to the growth of the company, serving in various capacities including chief financial officer, senior vice president of development and vice president of on-campus development, vice president of acquisitions and director of acquisitions. Before joining ACC, he held positions in the investment banking firm of Kidder, Peabody & Company and with the corporate finance group of LaSalle Partners. Mr. Nickel received a B.S. in Economics from Northwestern University.

James C. Hopke, Jr. serves as our executive vice president of project management and construction where he provides oversight of the delivery of our owned and third-party development pipeline. Clint Braun serves as our senior vice president of construction management and oversees project development, design, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, construction and reporting for the company. Mr. Braun joined ACC in February 2000 as director of construction management, was promoted to vice president of construction management in February 2002, and assumed the role of SVP in September 2006. During his tenure with us, he has supervised the successful completion of over 6,500 beds and $380 million in development costs, including three LEED projects, on-time and within the approved budgets. Before joining ACC, Mr. Braun held various construction management positions with JPI (a private real estate developer) from 1996 to 2000. Mr. Braun received a B.S. in Construction Science from Texas A&M University.

Daniel Perry serves as our senior vice president of capital markets. He joined ACC in February 2005 as vice president of investments. Jennifer Beese serves as our senior vice president of leasing administration. Victor Young serves as our senior vice president of project management and construction with a focus on the execution and delivery of projects under construction. Mr. Young joined ACC in January 2007 as vice president of construction management and was promoted to his current position in November 2007. Kim K. Voss serves as our senior vice president and controller. Ms. Voss joined ACC in June 2004, previously holding the positions of vice president and controller and assistant controller. She began her career in the Audit and Business Advisory group of Arthur Andersen LLP in San Francisco, California, where her client base consisted primarily of REITs and other real estate entities. Immediately prior to joining ACC, she held the position of assistant controller with AMB Property Corporation in San Francisco, a publicly-traded industrial REIT that owns and operates properties in numerous global markets. G. Steven Dawson, age 50, has served as our director since January 11, 2005 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. Mr. Dawson was previously a member of the compensation committee and nominating and corporate governance committee for Sunset Financial Resources, Inc. and was also the chairman of the special committee in connection with our merger with AFT. Mr. Dawson is currently director and chief financial officer of Desert Capital REIT, Inc. (public but non-listed), a Las Vegas-based commercial mortgage REIT, and managing director of Sandstone Equity Investors, LLC, the outside advisor of Desert Capital REIT, Inc. He also serves on the board of directors of AmREIT, Inc. (AMEX: AMY), a Houston-based owner and developer of retail properties (chairman of the audit committee; member of the compensation committee and nominating and governance committee), Medical Properties Trust (NYSE: MPW), a Birmingham, Alabama-based REIT specializing in the ownership of acute care facilities and related medical properties (chairman of the audit committee) and American Campus Communities (NYSE: ACC), an Austin-based equity REIT focused on student housing (chairman of the audit committee; member of the compensation committee). From 1990 to 2003, Mr. Dawson served as chief financial officer of Camden Property Trust and its predecessors, a multi-family REIT based in Houston with apartment operations, construction and development activities throughout the United States.

Born and raised in Northeastern Ohio, Jim Coleman graduated with a B. A. in Rhetoric Communication from Kent State University in 1987. Since then he has embarked on an exciting and diverse career in fundraising. As a senior at Hudson High in Hudson, Ohio Jim created and conducted his first charitable effort with the first annual Powder Puff Volleyball game that collected over 300 cans of food for the needy at Thanksgiving. His first job out of college was working with United Way Services in Cleveland, Ohio. After acceptance into the United Way Young Professional Fast Track Program, he enjoyed a ten year career running employee campaigns in San Diego, California and Columbus, Ohio. After leaving United Way, Jim was recruited to be the first development director for City Year Columbus, a youth service corps that was founded in 1994. He secured sponsorship for the first ever national City Year service conference and also played a major role in founding the City Year Chapter in Cleveland, Ohio. Jim's political career began as the finance director for Voinovich for Senate. With no political experience he applied his years of fundraising and relationship building skills to raise over ten million dollars to elect then Governor George Voinovich to the US Senate. He then went on to work for Kasich 2000 and Bush for President in the same election cycle. Besides his political and non profit experience Coleman has also participated in many association and PAC fundraising efforts. He also has had the opportunity to raise dollars for economic development campaigns as the VP for Investor Relations with the Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his professional fundraising, he is also a strong patron in the development efforts in the emerging arts community in Columbus. Also, in honor of the memory of two of his best friends and their surviving children, Jim has raised thousands of dollars to support Joan's Fund through the James Cancer center. A recovering marathoner, Jim is still an avid runner and a squash player at the Athletic Club of Columbus. He also serves as a board member for the ACC and is very active with the social committee and membership recruitment campaign.

Michael, a member of the Henneman Engineering team since 1971, became a principal of the firm in 1977. He holds both a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and master of business administration degree from the University of Illinois. Henneman is a registered professional engineer in the states of Illinois, Texas, Missouri, Arizona, Wisconsin and Indiana. Henneman is also a founder of Royal Properties, a real estate development company which develops, owns and operates residential apartment projects in Illinois, Florida, Kentucky, Arizona, Tennessee, and Texas. Additionally, Henneman is managing partner of HRBR Design Build, LLC, an affiliate of Henneman Engineering, and HWS Energy Partners, LLC, an energy service provider.
