Bret Bielawski, D.O., earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. The acronym D.O. stands for Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. The major difference between a D.O. and an M.D. is the extra training a D.O. receives of the musculoskeletal system. A D.O. is able to manipulate and correct back, neck and other musculoskeletal pain. Otherwise, they receive the same internal medicine training that their M.D. counterparts receive and are subject to the same board certification and credentialing process. Dr. Bielawski is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
