Olin Robison is President Emeritus of Middlebury College and President Emeritus of the Salzburg Seminar. In 1991 Dr. Robison assumed the presidency of the Salzburg Seminar, an international educational organization based at Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria. During his 14 year leadership higher education became a key area of the Seminar's work. The Universities Project brought over 800 higher education leaders from 50 countries to gatherings in Salzburg, and the Visiting Advisors Program sent more than 70 teams of European and North American academic leaders to universities in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. Robison also led the Salzburg Seminar beyond its trans-Atlantic roots to develop a truly global reach for its work. Having retired from the Seminar presidency in 2005, Dr. Robison is currently serving on a visiting appointment in Theology at Oxford University. In addition, the College increased its commitment to attracting a student body that was more diverse racially, geographically and economically. The College's endowment grew from $32 million in 1975 to $217 million in 1989, faculty salaries improved dramatically, and the faculty/student ratio improved from 1:15 to 1:12. Dr. Robison is a graduate of Baylor University and Oxford University. He began his career in Washington, serving in the leadership of the Peace Corps and in the State Department. He subsequently held academic and administrative posts at Bowdoin College and Wesleyan University before assum
