Erin Fuller, CAE, joined The Coulter Companies as a Senior Associate in 2002, and was named Vice President in 2006. Since joining The Coulter Companies, Fuller has focused her efforts as the executive director for the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). Fuller has worked with NAWBO's 80 chapters and 8,000 members around the country on initiatives including grassroots advocacy, educational seminar development, and a comprehensive rebranding initiative. Through her work with The Coulter Consulting Group, Fuller has provided guidance on topics including association financial management, governance redesign, component relations and comprehensive marketing, branding and communication plans to organizations including the National Council of Jewish Women, the International Association of Continuing Education and Training, and the American Council on Renewable Energy. Prior to joining The Coulter Companies, Fuller served as the executive director of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) Research Foundation and as vice president of CAI's education department. During her tenure at CAI, Fuller led a groundbreaking national survey of homeowners and led a multi-year initiative with the State of Florida for homeowner education, leveraging the resources of several of CAI's 57 local chapters across the U.S. She has partnered on programs with organizations including: the Fannie Mae Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Merck Foundation. Fuller's previous employment includes positions with Andersen Consulting, the American Medical Student Association/Foundation, and American University. She has consulted for organizations including Dartmouth University's Koop Institute, the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Latino Council on Alcohol and Tobacco, and the Children's Defense Fund. She has facilitated a number of workshops on survey and educational program design, and has authored a number of articles that have appeared in national and regional publications. Fuller received both her undergraduate and master of public administration degrees from American University in Washington, D.C., and also has obtained the certified association executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives. She currently serves as the Vice President of the American University Alumni Association executive board, as well as on the Women Under Forty Political Action Committee (WUFPAC) advisory board. She served on the board of directors of the national Center for Association Leadership from 2003-2006, as well as the editorial board of the Journal of Association Leadership. Fuller was named one of Association Trends Leading Young Association Executives in 2000, and received a fellowship to study leadership at The Banff Centre in 2002 from the Canadian Bureau of Tourism. She lives in Arlington, Virginia, with her husband and son.

Fanta Aw is currently assistant vice president of campus life at American University. She was director of international student and scholar services at the university from 1998 to 2007. Aw has taught and lectured on international and intercultural topics and has served as a consultant to the Department of State, the Institute for International Education, the Academy for Educational Development, and the United Negro College Fund, among others.

Lyndell Grey: Dr. Grey is at the school daily from 3:00-6:00. She opens the doors, prepares the building, and visits with each child as he or she arrives. Dr. Grey has her doctorate in education and psychology and has taught at the university level as well as being the Vice President of the American University in Bulgaria. Her family has lived in the Lincoln area since 1888 when the Fruitvale School was established.

Robert Pastor has been the Vice President of International Affairs and a Professor of International Relations at American University since September 2002. Dr. Pastor leads AU's expanding international programs and activities. He has established and now directs the Center for Democracy and Election Management and the Center for North American Studies at AU. From 1985, Dr. Pastor was Professor of Political Science at Emory University and a Fellow and Founding Director of the Carter Center's Latin American and Caribbean, the Democracy Program, and the China Election Project. Dr. Pastor served as Director of Latin American Affairs on the National Security Council, was nominated to be Ambassador to Panama, and was the Senior Advisor to the Carter - Nunn - Powell Mission in 1994 to negotiate a restoration of constitutional government to Haiti. At The Carter Center, he organized the Council of Presidents and Prime Ministers, which monitored and mediated elections in more than twenty countries around the world. Since 1999, he has been a member of the Governing Board of Common Cause, a grass-roots group to improve democracy in the United States, and was also President of Common Cause Georgia from 1999-2002. He served as Special Advisor to the Carter-Ford National Commission on Election Reform and edited a volume comparing elections in the three countries of North America for the Election Law Journal. He received a Ph.D. from Harvard University and is the author or editor of 15 books, including Democracy in the Americas.

Daniel Abraham has led choral, orchestral, and musical theater ensembles in the Boston, Washington, and Toronto areas. The Washington Post has praised his performances as having "uncommon precision and exuberant vitality," being "bright, energetic, and lovingly shaped" and showing "keen insight and coherence." His work with The Bach Sinfonia is consistently cited for its excellence in programming and innovative educational approach. Dedicated to performance, scholarship, and education, Professor Abraham is Director of Music & Director of Choral Activities at American University where he conducts the American University Chorus, the American University Chamber Singers, and teaches courses in music history, music theory, and music appreciation courses ranging from The Music of Bach, Handel & the Late Baroque to A History of Rock-n-Roll. A frequent clinician, adjudicator, and festival jurist, he has led various festival ensembles, clinics, and masterclasses in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, and Ontario, Canada. During the spring of 2005, he was invited as Visiting Distinguished Professor of the Arts by American University in Cairo to rehearse and conduct performances of a chamber chorus formed jointly by AUC students, students of the Cairo Conservatoire of Music, members of the Cairo Opera House, and other civic choirs. While in Cairo, Professor Abraham provided lectures, directed master classes, and led clinics for various Egyptian professional and civic music organizations. Professor Abraham holds both a Masters in Conducting as well as Musicology from the University of Maryland and will defend his Ph.D. dissertation this fall. He was a conducting fellow at the 1997 Oregon Bach Festival where he worked and studied with the renowned Bach interpreter Helmuth Rilling, principally studied choral and orchestral conducting with Paul Traver (University of Maryland), Harold McSwain, and Christopher McGahan (University of Massachusetts), and received additional training with William Weinert (Eastman School of Music), and David Hoose (Boston University). His musicological studies were under the guidance of the late Howard Serwer and John Ogasapian, as well as Richard G. King, E. Eugene Helm, Rachel Wade, and Richard Wexler. Prior to teaching at American University he was on faculty at The George Washington University and was Director of the University of Maryland's Collegium Musicum. He has conducted performances at the Kennedy Center, The National Women's Museum of the Arts, and at the 2005 National Meeting of the American Musicological Society. Other notable engagements include the first modern performance of the 1776 French comic opera Fleur d'Epine by Marie Emmanuelle Bayon-Louis, period-instrument performances of Purcell's semi-opera The Indian Queen, featuring renowned soprano soloist Amanda Balestrieri and countertenor Jay White, and period-instrument performances of all six of Bach's Brandenburg Concerti for The Bach Sinfonia's Tenth Anniversary Season. Broadcast credits include choral preparation for the Kennedy Center Honors Gala (PBS), chorus master for the 2005 national broadcast of Christmas in Washington (TNT), as well as an appearance on the nationally syndicated PBS series History Detectives during its initial season in 2003. He has conducted various modern premieres of eighteenth-century works including the Washington area premiere of George Frideric Handel's recently rediscovered Gloria, period-instrument concerts of Handel's Alexander's Feast before the annual national meeting of the American Musicological Society, which also included the North American premiere complete performance of J.S. Bach's Alles mit Gott und nichts mit ohn' ihn, BWV 1127, just recently rediscovered in June 2005. His performances have been nationally broadcast on NPR's Performance Today, and he will release an international commercial recording of Handel's Alexander's Feast on the Dorian Records...

Sean McDonald is the Communications Director for CPBI and a student at American University's Washington College of Law, focusing on international law and conflict resolution. Sean has extensive media experience, both as a journalist for area and national publications and for the press office of a senior U.S. Senator. He has interned for the Institute of Multi-Track Diplomacy, and works closely with both the international Conflict Resolution and Alternative Dispute Resolution Law communities. He has worked on disaster relief projects in Southeast Asia and Latin America. Sean recently contributed to a community-based, post-Tsunami analysis in Sri Lanka for CPBI.

Phillip L. Brown is a Capital Renewal/Deferred Maintenance Project Manager for Facilities Management at American University. Mr. Brown is responsible for the Universitya s compliance with environmental concerns which includes but is not limited to asbestos, lead, mold and indoor air quality issues. He also plans, coordinates, and manages capital renewal and deferred maintenance projects throughout the campus. Phillip has been with American University for over eighteen years and has more than thirty years of experience in the area of facilities management.

Aaron Goldstein, a junior at American University, is studying Broadcast Journalism. He currently is still a full-time student at American University in DC. He is also interning at WMAL radio, covering local news. Aaron currently works as the news director of American Television, the student run TV station of AU. He also took advantage of AU's World Capitals Program, by studying in Jerusalem. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Goldstein is an avid sports fan, with the Red Sox and Patriots as his favorite teams. Goldstein also enjoys playing sports, such as Frisbee, basketball and baseball. After college he would like to pursue a career in either television or radio.

Abdallah Schleifer, Advisory Board Member, is professor emeritus of journalism at American University in Cairo, and a veteran journalist in the Middle East. Schleifer, a former NBC news bureau chief in Cairo, is currently serving as Washington bureau chief of Al-Arabiya news channel headquartered in Dubai.

Adam Louis Shrier, President of Global Development Opportunities, LLC, has been a business developer and management consultant to the energy and chemical industries since 1988. He has started-up and acquired firms in the energy, environment and chemical fields, and has arranged for international investments and technology transfers. As a strategic advisor, he has helped private and state-owned companies to formulate and implement long-term investment strategies and to streamline their organizational structure and business processes, and he has consulted to government agencies on planning, policy development and economic reform programs. The scope of his activities has been worldwide, but he has maintained a special interest in the emerging market economies, with projects and clients in Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union and China. Previously, Dr. Shrier spent 25 years at Exxon (now ExxonMobil) Corporation, in various commercial, technical and corporate positions, including management of international planning and policy activities. His earlier responsibilities spanned multiple functions, including corporate planning and government relations; international supply, transportation and trading; energy security and emergency preparedness; alternative energy; corporate ventures and new business development; and research and engineering. From 1983-88 he served on the Industry Advisory Board of the International Energy Agency. Dr. Shrier holds degrees in chemical engineering from Columbia University, MIT and Yale University, and a law degree from Fordham University. He has lectured at universities in the US, China and Czech Republic, and since 2000 he has been adjunct professor of international business at American University.

Adam Tomasek is the Director for the World Wildlife Fund's Borneo & Sumatra Program. He is leading the development of a conservation blueprint with WWF's offices in Indonesia and Malaysia, including the design of local-to-global conservation strategies for the highly threatened forests on both islands. Adam joined WWF in 2001 and has led programs in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and Madagascar, and contributed to projects in ten other countries. He has traversed the tropics, from South America to Africa to Asia and the Pacific, combining his expertise and passion in protected areas management and community-based conservation to develop lasting solutions. Adam received a BS from the University of Michigan and a MS from Humboldt State University. He got his start in conservation as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay, where he also met his wife Toni. They have two children, Alexandre and Amelie, who have already seen much of the world through travels with their globe-trotting parents. In his spare time, Adam is an Adjunct Professor at American University.

Alan Duffy is currently a Health Educator at American University in Washington, DC. He has been conducting research and applied work in eating disorders prevention for the last four years. Alan has worked closely with Dr. Carolyn Becker on expansion of the Reflections program over the last two years. Alan helped to build a large campus program at Auburn University with the help of Dr. Annette Kluck, who assisted in training and oversight of the program. He assisted in expansion of the program to Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, and Delta Gamma chapters at Auburn. He also expanded the program to Tri Delta's Phi Theta chapter at Auburn, and worked with Pi Beta Phi Fraternity Headquarters to pilot the program with their Alabama Gamma chapter. Currently Alan is developing a campus model of the Reflections program at American University with the assistance of the Panhellenic Association. He is also conducting research on peer leader adaptation from presenting the Reflections program to presenting The Body Project. Alan received his BA from the University of Sussex, Brighton, England and his MS from Auburn University in Alabama. He is a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders.

Alan Rosenblatt, a long time veteran in the field of Internet Politics, leads IAC. From 1995 to 2000, Dr. Rosenblatt created and taught one of the first university courses ever in the field of Internet Politics at George Mason University. In 2000, he helped to pioneer Internet media coverage of the presidential nominating conventions with Media Bureau Networks. From 2001 to 2003 he created and managed the first consulting practice devoted to Internet strategy for state and local issue advocacy at Stateside Associates. From 2003 to 2005 he was Director of Training Programs at e-advocates, one of the first Internet advocacy consulting firms in the nation. He has published many articles and is a frequent lecturer on Internet politics. As the Executive Director of the Internet Advocacy Center, he brings more than fifteen years of experience in the field of digital politics. Dr. Rosenblatt currently serves as Associate Director of Online Advocacy for the Center for American Progress Action Fund, a member of the Board of Directors for e-Democracy.org, a contributor to the blog TechPresident.com, a contributing editor to Politics Online, a member of the Tools-Peer-Review Subcommittee at the New Organizing Institute, a member of the steering committee for the Progressive Communicators of DC (PCDC), a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Information Technology and Politics, a member of the Advisory Board for DemocraticGAIN, and Washington Bureau Chief for Media Bureau Networks.

Alex Wohl, FLA's Director of Communications and Outreach, has an extensive background in public policy and communications, working across a variety of disciplines, including law, labor, journalism and education. He has been Director of Communications at the U.S. Department of Education, where he served first as a speechwriter for Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley and Director of Public Affairs for the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). Wohl, an attorney, was selected to be a Judicial Fellow at the U.S. Supreme Court, where he wrote speeches for Chief Justice William Rehnquist and met with visiting foreign judges and dignitaries. He also has served as a law clerk for Judge Ralph B. Guy, Jr. on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, worked as an attorney at the Washington, DC-based law firm of Dickstein, Shapiro, Morin & Oshinsky and was the Supreme Court correspondent for the San Francisco Chronicle. Wohl is an adjunct professor at American University in the Department of Justice, Law and Society. He is the author of numerous articles on subjects including legal affairs, education, and entertainment. Wohl received a B.A. from Brandeis University and a J.D. from the Washington College of Law at American University.

Coach Ryjik began fencing at age 8 in St. Petersburg, Russia. At 17 he earned a Master of Sport in Fencing of the USSR, the top prestigious certification in this sport. Coach Ryjik holds many championship titles: All Republic Champion, Army Champion, Leningrad Champion and National Youth Champion of the Soviet Union. Alexandre Ryjik has coached at Carnegie Mellon University. He is now Professor of Fencing at both American University and George Mason University.

Amy Shopkorn joined NSCS in 2003. While she originally hails from New York City, Amy lived in Maine and Boston prior to her arrival in Washington, D.C. and has worked in various aspects of non-profit management for the past seven years at Shackleton Schools, an expedition-based high school, The George Washington University, and now NSCS. Amy earned her Bachelor's degree from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, where she majored in Government and Environmental Studies and played rugby for four years. She also holds a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration from The George Washington University. In her spare time, Amy helps coach the women's rugby team at American University and spends time hiking the many nearby mountains and trails.

Anna K. Nelson is the Distinguished Historian in Residence at the American University. She received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Oklahoma. After additional graduate work at Ohio State University, she received her PhD from George Washington University. She has served on the SHAFR nominating committee and as chair of local arrangements for the 2001 meeting. She has published in both 19th century diplomacy and 20th century foreign policy. Primarily an author of articles and essays, her articles have appeared in the Journal of American History, Diplomatic History, Journal of Military History, Political Science Quarterly, Cuban Studies and Reviews in American History. Other essays can be found in edited books. In addition, she is the author of Secret Agents: Polk and the Pursuit of Peace with Mexico, and the editor of State Department Policy Planning Staff Papers, 1947-1949 (3 vols.) She is currently preparing a book on the influence of the national security process on foreign policy in the first three decades of the Cold War.

Ashraf Fouad is a composer, who teaches composition and theory at The American University in Cairo. He is a graduate of The Academy of Arts in Cairo, Egypt, and The Juilliard School of Music, New York, where he advanced to the level of DMA studies with David Diamond (1988-1991). At the Cairo Conservatory, he studied with Taha Nagy and Said Awad. At Juilliard, Fouad studied composition with Stanley Wolfe, Joseph Schwantner, and Bernard Rands. Among his works, which were premiered at Juilliard are: Sonata Concertante for Violin and Piano (Paul Hall) and String Quartet (Alice Tully Hall). A working musician all his life, Fouad has been performer, producer, researcher, teacher, lecturer, and composer. In 1994, he joined the faculty at The American University in Cairo as composer-in-residence. Since then, he has written Ithaca (cantata for orchestra, chorus and soloists), a commission celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the University.

In addition to being a participant to Project Auditors, Dr. Dodin is Professor of Management at American University in Cairo, Egypt, as well as being a Professor of Operations Management and Management Science at the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management (AGSM) of University of California Riverside (UCR). As part of his duties, he is Director of the University of California Education Abroad Center (UCEAP) in Cairo. The UCEAP is a University of California (UC) run program to give UC students international experiences and education. The Cairo operation is offered in cooperation with the American University in Cairo. His position as Director involved managing the day to day operations of the UC Center. In the past he has been Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, AGSM & Manager of the AACSB Accreditation Project as well as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Chair of the two AGSM Departments.

One of the finest coaches in the nation, Barry Goldberg is in his 20th season as the head coach of the American University volleyball program. Responsible for the dramatic rise of the program, he has established the team as a domineering power in the Patriot League. The Eagles have been conference champions ten of the last eleven years. In addition to having captured NCAA tournament berths in nine of the last eleven years, he led his team to a 96-2 Patriot League record over the last seven years. A native of Pittsburgh , Pa. , Goldberg is a 1984 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in communication and rhetoric. He went on to receive his master's in Counseling Education in 1986 from Pittsburgh . A standout on the court, Goldberg was captain of the men's varsity volleyball team at Pittsburgh that finished with a national ranking of 13 th in 1983. From 1985-86, Goldberg was the assistant women's volleyball coach for his alma mater. In 1987, he came to Washington , DC as the coach of the Capital Volleyball Club where all of the players he coached secured scholarships at Division I institutions. In 1988, before being hired at American, Goldberg was the assistant coach at Georgetown University . The architect of a model program at American University , Goldberg has 474 career wins with a .727 winning percentage, which ranks him among the top-20 active collegiate coaches in the country. In 12 seasons in the Colonial Athletic Association, before AU joined the Patriot League, Goldberg coached 36 players to All-CAA teams, including 20 All-CAA First Team selections, two CAA Championships MVP accolades, and a CAA Rookie of the Year winner. Goldberg has also coached three GTE/Academic All-Americans and three American University Student-Athletes of the Year. Five of his student-athletes have been named Verizon District II Academic All-Americans. He has produced 31 All-Patriot League selections in seven years and six Patriot League Volleyball Player of the Year recipients. In the fall of 2002, Goldberg became Director of Metro American VBC. Under his direction, MAVBC has grown from 5 teams in Washington , DC , to over 20 teams in the metropolitan area. Along the way to the top, Goldberg has worked with several prestigious volleyball camps and committees. In 1997, for example, he was the United States representative, along with the Tampa Bay Juniors Volleyball Club, at a four-nation international camp in Europe . Elite junior national teams from Switzerland , Slovakia , and the Czech Republic hosted the camp. During his summers, Goldberg conducts individual and team volleyball camps at AU and other locations in the Mid-Atlantic region. He has also held seminars in the National Mizuno Coaching Clinic Series. Goldberg now serves as a voting member of the national AVCA/USA Today Top-25 Coaches Poll and is also a voting member of the All-American committee. He lives in Maryland with his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Arielle, 18, who plays volleyball at the University of Pacific ; and two sons, Jared, 16, and Mitchell, 13.

Although she began her career in technology, Bea Carson has been interested in psychology, groups, and teams her whole life. She made a mid-career change to pursue these life-long interests, receiving her doctorate in Education and Organizational Learning from George Washington University. A co-founder of The World Institute for Action Learning (WIAL), Bea has been leading WIAL's effort to develop methods and standards for training Action Learning Team Coaches. In addition to her contributions to WIAL, Dr. Carson is President of her own consulting firm, Carson Consultants which is devoted to providing Action Learning coaching and consulting to organizations in both the private and public-sectors. Bea has consulted with government, non-profit, and commercial organizations throughout the United States including Constellation Energy, Triplex, NASA, Rotary International, and Special Olympics Maryland Dr. Carson has been an invited lecturer at American University and the George Washington University. Bea is also a member of the board of Special Olympics Maryland and the Annapolis Rotary.

Bernard J. Fisken, has extensive experience in accounting, financial management and US Government contracting with Non Profit Organizations and Consulting Firms that work in the United States, Latin America, Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and Africa. He also is an expert on overhead rates and fringe benefit rates that meet U.S. Government standards. Bernie is an expert on taxation of Expatriate Americans living abroad and yearly presents an all day workshop, Taxation of Americans Overseas, for international organizations working globally. Bernie is particularly familiar with the overseas working/living environment, having spent time in Asia, Africa and Latin America as a Peace Corps Volunteer, USAID contractor and independent consultant. He has extensive experience with both Non-Profit and For-Profit Organizations subject to U.S. Government contracting issues under the OMB Circulars and Federal Acquisition Regulations.

Brandon Sturdivant is a heavily involved student at the American University. Mr. Sturdivant is a man that had to work hard against incredibly adverse situations as a teen, and this motivates him to give back to children who experience similar struggles today. He is responsible for starting Concerned Black Men at American University, and he also takes the time to teach etiquette classes for under privileged children at a local elementary school. Academically, Mr. Sturdivant is studying sociology, and aspires to earn a Masters degree as well. Within his chapter, Brandon Sturdivant has served as the Director of Guide Right, ensuring that Kappa Chi gives back to the youth of Washington, D.C.

Brenda Jones is Principal of Brenda B. Jones Associates, Inc. based in Columbia, Maryland, USA. With more than 25 years in the field of social change and organization development, her work focuses on organization culture, strategy and change; executive coaching; leadership development and lead projects to build individual, group and organization capabilities. She consults with a broad range of clients inside and outside the United States. Brenda serves on the faculty of American University/NTL graduate program in Organization Development, the Gestalt Organization and Systems Development (OSD) Center, the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland and assists in the delivery of a course on Interpersonal Dynamics at the Stanford School of Business. She is coeditor of The NTL Handbook of Organization Development and Change published in 2006. Brenda is a member of the NTL Institute, OD Network, IODA, Academy of Management and past chair of the Board of Trustees and the OD Network and past president of the Chesapeake Bay OD Network.

Commissioner Brenda V. Smith is a Professor at the American University, Washington College of Law, where she teaches Community and Economic Development Law, Legal Ethics and Women, and Crime and Law. Her research interests center on women in conflict with the law, and on the sexual abuse of individuals in custody. Professor Smith is also Project Director and Principal Investigator for the United States Department of Justice, National Institute of Corrections Cooperative Agreement on Addressing Staff Sexual Misconduct with Offenders. Professor Smith is an expert on issues affecting women in prison, an issue about which she has widely published and spoken. Before her appointment to the faculty of the Washington College of Law, Professor Smith was Senior Counsel for Economic Security at the National Women's Law Center. Professor Smith has also served as the Director of the Center's Women in Prison Project and its Child and Family Support Project. Professor Smith earned her Bachelor of Arts from Spelman College and her Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Chelsea Brown currently serves as the Graduate Development Fellow at Women In Government. In this role, she assists the Development Department staff with corporate, foundation, and government research and assists the team in preparing for upcoming events. Chelsea's other responsibilities include the creation and distribution of the quarterly newsletter, Legislative Voice, regular website updates, and other projects related to Women In Government's outreach. Chelsea graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 2008 with a degree in Journalism. She is a first year graduate student at American University, working towards her M.A. in political science. Prior to joining Women in Government, Chelsea worked on campaigns for the 2004, 2006 and 2008 elections. Most recently, Chelsea spent the past six months working for the McCain-Palin presidential campaign. At the campaign, she managed logistics for the Senator and his traveling staff.

J. Cody Nielsen is a seminary student at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington DC. Currently, he is working as the Associate for Campus Ministry at Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church, a large church directly across the street from American University. Cody is working to bridge to assets of the church with the previously established United Methodist Protestant Community at American University under the direction of Rev. Mark Schaefer. Dr. Daniel R. Fredrick is assistant professor of Rhetoric at the American University in Bulgaria. From 1996 to 1998, he taught writing and tutored ESL students at California State University, Sacramento and from 1999 to 2002 he taught at Tarrant County College and Texas Christian University. In addition to teaching at the college level, Dr. Fredrick has also spent five years teaching Latin, logic, rhetoric, writing, literature, speech, and guitar at Coram Deo Academy.

David Gage, Ph.D., Principal, is a leader in the field of business mediation and the founder of BMC Associates. Dr. Gage has over 15 years experience as a mediator and 20 years experience as a clinical psychologist. He has assisted partners from many different industries in resolving all types of disputes. He has spoken to bar associations and business and professional organizations locally and nationally, has been interviewed on radio and TV, written for the Washington Business Journal, Executive Excellence, Family Business and was featured in the New York Times, Fortune, Nation's Business, and The Washington Post. Dr. Donald G. Zauderer is Professor Emeritus of Public Administration at American University. While at American, Dr. Zauderer directed the Key Executive Program for emerging leaders in the public service. As an educational entrepreneur, he also developed graduate programs in Organization Development, Management Consulting, Human Resource Management, Public Financial Management, and the Management of Technology for the Mitre Corporation. Upon retiring from American, Dr. Zauderer served as Senior Advisor at The Brookings Institution, where he directed a program entitled Mastering the Art of Public Leadership. This innovative and value based program focused on developing the next generation of public service leaders. Dr. Zauderer is currently Principal of Zauderer & Associates, LLC, where he provides educational and consulting services to public, private, and not-for-profit organizations. His clients include the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, HHS University, the Treasury Department-FedSource, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, American University, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Cancer Institute, the National Gallery of Art, and the U.S. Census Bureau, among others.

Douglas H. Weber, Senior Researcher. Douglas Weber joined the Center in the summer of 1997 as a researcher working on fulfilling research requests in our National Library on Money in Politics. Douglas is currently a doctoral student at the American University focusing his research on religion and politics. During earlier summer breaks Douglas worked for the Center for Public Integrity and the United States Sentencing Commission. Douglas graduated from SUNY University of Buffalo, with a major in Political Science.

President and founder of Social Dynamics, Dr. Douglas Klayman is an Applied Sociologist. He holds a Doctorate degree in Sociology with emphases in Applied Sociology and Social Stratification. He is an experienced evaluation consultant and expert in the design and implementation of national and community-based evaluation studies. During the past 17 years, Dr. Klayman has conducted evaluations and analyses of numerous child welfare, education, social, health and youth services programs, and serves as Project Director and Corporate Monitor on most Social Dynamics contracts. Mr. Sterling was Counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary from 1979 until 1989. On the staff of the Subcommittee on Crime, (Rep. William J. Hughes (D-NJ), Chairman), he was responsible for drug enforcement, gun control, money laundering, organized crime, pornography, terrorism, corrections, and military assistance to law enforcement, among many issues. He was a principal aide in developing the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the Anti-Drug Abuse Acts of 1986 and 1988, and other laws. Dr. Erica Brown is the Scholar-in-Residence for The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and its Managing Director for Education and Leadership. In that capacity, she serves as the director of its Jewish Leadership Institute. Erica did her undergraduate studies at Yeshiva University and continued her graduate work at the University of London, Harvard University and Baltimore Hebrew University. She was a Jerusalem Fellow and is a faculty member of the Wexner Heritage Foundation. She lectures widely on subjects of Jewish interest and leadership, in addition to writing extensively in journals of education and Jewish studies.

Erin Loubier is a senior managing attorney for the legal services pProgram of Whitman-Walker Clinic. Erin's area of expertise is public benefits. In addition to handling and mentoring on public benefit cases, she oversees the pro bono program, including training and materials to support staff, volunteers, and others handling legal services for people with HIV. She is the chair of the D.C. Bar's annual public benefits training and serves as faculty and trainer for numerous other trainings. Erin came to Whitman-Walker Clinic as the public benefits attorney, immediately following her graduation from American University's Washington College of Law in 1998. During law school, she interned at Whitman-Walker Clinic, the National Abortion Federation, and the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL). Erin also worked for three years at Equal Justice Works (formerly the National Association for Public Interest Law) as student organizer and programs coordinator. Erin is a member of the District of Columbia and Maryland Bars.

Faith Shearin is a visiting writer at American University in Washington, DC whose first book of poems, The Owl Question, won the 2002 May Swenson Award and was published by Utah State University Press. Her work has appeared in a number of journals, including Chicago Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, and Ploughshares.

Mr. Cohn has been our President and Co-Chief Operating Officer and a director since June 2006. Previously, he had been the co-head of Goldman Sachs’ global securities businesses since January 2004. He also had been the co-head of Equities since 2003 and the co-head of FICC since September 2002. From March 2002 to September 2002, he served as co-chief operating officer of FICC. Prior to that, beginning in 1999, Mr. Cohn managed the FICC macro businesses. From 1996 to 1999, he was the global head of Goldman Sachs’ commodities business. Mr. Cohn is not on the board of any public company other than Goldman Sachs. He is affiliated with certain non-profit organizations, including as a member of the Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association and as a trustee of the Gilmour Academy, the NYU Child Study Center, the NYU Hospital, the NYU Medical School, the Harlem Children’s Zone and American University.

In 1005, Gary Griffin won the Sundance Film Festival's American Excellence in Cinematography Award for the documentary The Education of Shelby Knox, and Autism is a World, shot by Gary Griffin was nominated for an Academy Award for best documentary short film. Additionally, Mr. Griffin directed photography on the 1992 HBO documentary film Educating Peter, which won the Oscar for best documentary film. He is director of photography of NVF's feature documentary Still Fighting. Some of his other work includes The Character of George Washington (PBS), God and the Inner City (PBS), Marachi, the Spirit of Mexico (PBS), and Fighter (First Run Features). His award-winning cinematography includes productions for A&E, PBS, ABC, HBO, NBC, CNN, and CBC. Mr. Griffin is an adjunct film professor at American University in Washington, D.C.

George B.N Ayittey, a native of Ghana, is a distinguished economist at American University, president of the Free Africa Foundation, and the author of Africa In Chaos. Africa Betrayed and Africa Unchained: The Blueprint For Africa's Future.

George Dzuricsko is currently a junior at the University of Notre Dame, where he is studying political science, Arabic, and peace studies. He is currently studying abroad at the American University in Cairo for 2005-2006 academic year. He has worked with InterWorldview since its inception. His current position includes research and webmaster responsibilities.

Gordon Adams is a Distinguished Fellow at the Stimson Center and a professor in the US Foreign Policy field at American University. Mr. Adams was most recently a Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. For the previous seven years, he was a Professor at the Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University and Director of the Schools Security Policy Studies Program. He was previously Deputy Director of the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London, and served for five years as the Associate Director for National Security and International Affairs at the Office of Management and Budget as the senior White House budget official for national security. He has been an International Affairs Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and received the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service. Mr. Adams has published books, monographs and articles on defense and national security policy, the defense policy process, and on national security budgets. He has testified numerous times before the Congress on defense spending and national security issues, writes columns for major media outlets, including a monthly column for the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, and is widely quoted by national media on national security policy and budgets.

Hovhannes Avoyan is one of the founders of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), and has been the president of UITE board since its foundation. Hovhannes Avoyan is a computer science veteran with 24 years of programming and management experience. He is a member of ACM , IEEE , Computer Socienty, and ACM Special Interest Group on Software Engineering. He is a senior lecturer at the American University of Armenia and was a visiting lecturer at San Francisco State University. He is also lecturing at State Engineering University of Armenia and Yerevan State University, where he designed new curricula with focus on Java and Internet technologies.

Dr Ian Brown is a semi-retired mathematics professor who teaches at an American University in Regent's Park, London. He has three degrees in mathematics: BA and MA from London University and a PhD from The City University, London. As well as teaching for over 40 years in higher education, (courses taught included special relativity, hydrodynamics, logic, calculus, recreational mathematics) he has, for the same 40 years also been an Elder and preacher amongst Grace Baptist Churches in the UK.

Since 1988, Ilona Kessell has choreographed and musically staged over 50 productions for Toby's Dinner Theatre in Columbia, MD. Over the years, Kessel has received the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Choreography twice and has been nominated for the regional honor seven other times. Kessell's teaching specialties are jazz, tap, and musical theatre. Her concert dance choreography has been featured at the Chautauqua Institute and choreographers' showcases in Baltimore, MD. In addition to her work at McDonogh, Kessell serves as an adjunct instructor for the Department of Performing Arts at American University. She has also been a member of the dance faculties of the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Goucher College, the Chautauqua Institute, as well as a number of commercial studios. Kessell is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers and the National Dance Association.

James is currently a Tufts University junior, majoring in Political Science, Middle Eastern Studies, and hopefully minoring in the Arabic Language. Currently, he is spending the fall semester with the Tufts-in-Washington program studying at American University and interning at the American Task Force on Palestine. The organization held its annual gala on Sunday October 12th, and it was attended by the Prime Minister of Palestine Salam Fayyad, numerous diplomats, domestic and international reporters. At Tufts, he is co-President of the Tufts University New Initiative For Middle East Peace (NIMEP), which is a student run organization that focuses on finding a just and viable solution to the conflicts in the tumultuous region. In January 2008, James traveled with the organization to Syria to participate in the annual research trip, and published my follow-up research in a piece in the NIMEP Insights journal, titled, "Looking Beyond the Golan Heights: The True Impediments to Syrian-Israeli Peace."

Jane Berkow, M.S. has an accomplished career as an organizational development consultant and management development trainer in both the private and public sectors. Since 1994, she has worked as internal Organization Development Consultant for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal & Plant Inspection Service (APHIS). In 1996, Jane and fellow AmericaSpeaks Associate Daniel Stone designed and facilitated the first Future Search conference within the Federal Government. Recently she was involved in providing change management support with the transfer 2500 agriculture inspectors to the Department of Homeland Security, for which she received the Secretary of Agriculture's Honor Achievement Award. Jane began working with AmericaSpeaks in 2000, consulting on a number of different 21st Century Town Meeting projects. In 2002, she served as Project Manager for AmericaSpeaks' largest project -- "Listening to the City". She regards this as the highlight of a career aimed at having a positive impact on people's lives. Jane earned her Master's Degree in Organization Development from American University in 1987. She is a member of the National Training Laboratories Institute of Applied Behavioral Science and serves as a Practicum Advisor for the American University/NTL Master's program in Organization Development.

Jessie recently graduated with her Masters in International Relations from the International University of Japan. Prior to joining the Business Development Department at Meridian, Jessie completed an internship with the Organization of American States where she assisted in registering civil society organizations at the Summits of the Americas Secretariat. She also conducted an extensive research project for the Summits about civil society participation which was published and distributed. Jessie also worked as an English teacher in Ecuador and Japan, and taught Spanish at Syracuse University in New York. In addition to her job at Meridian, Jessie is also an Adjunct Professor at American University. She is fluent in Spanish, has an intermediate level of French, and an elementary level of Japanese.

Dr. Beyer, president of Nathan Associates since 1978, is a highly skilled expert witness. In 1998 he testified for Litton Industries in its antitrust case against Honeywell, helping Litton win one of the largest antitrust judgments of that year. He co-authored Forced Labor Under the Third Reich, a damage assessment used in negotiations between lawyers representing survivors of forced labor and representatives of German corporations. More recently, he has studied the U.S. grain markets and the import of genetically modified seeds in these markets. Dr. Beyer is currently analyzing anticompetitive behavior among major U.S. air carriers. He has performed economic analyses and business valuations in many litigation matters, particularly those related to antitrust. Well known for succinct and persuasive definitions of relevant markets, assessments of anticompetitive conduct, and damage analyses, he has testified in federal, state, and tax courts. Also an adjunct professor of economics at the American University in Washington, D.C., Dr. Beyer is researching international trade and emerging market economies. He has worked for the Ford Foundation and was a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution.

John Harte is a Partner at Ietan Consulting, LLC. John is a member of the San Felipe Pueblo. Prior to joining Ietan, John was the General Counsel and Legislative Director of the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) from 2000 to 2004. Mr. Harte also served as Deputy Director of the Office of Tribal Justice within the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), and served as Legal Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs under Chairman Ben Nighthorse Campbell. At NIGA, John provided NIGA's 184 Member Tribes with legal advice on gaming related in use litigation, and worked with NCAI and NARF's Sovereignty Protection Initiative on amicus briefs cases relating to tribal sovereignty and Indian gaming, including protecting the ability of Tribes to technologic aids to Class II games under IGRA. John tracked and informed Member Tribes of federal legislation relating to or affecting: tribal sovereignty, Class II gaming, amendments to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, Internet gaming, and Indian country economic development and tax-related legislation. He also helped establish and administer NIGA's Political Action Committee the NIGA Sovereignty PAC that is helping strengthen Indian country's voice on Capitol Hill. While serving as Deputy Director of the Office of Tribal Justice, John acted as liaison for tribal on leaders to the DOJ's Solicitor's Office to discuss the Department's role in cases before the U.S. Supreme Court that affected tribal sovereignty, application of federal laws, tribal-state jurisdictional disputes, and tribal land claim issues. He also worked with Members of Congress Indian country law enforcement issues including the President's Indian Country Law Enforcement Initiative, which funds DOJ's Tribal COPS program, Tribal Courts Program, Tribal Youth Program, and Indian country detention center construction. As Legal Counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, John was responsible for legislation relating to Indian education, tribal economic development, and tribal justice issues. He also organized the first Indian Affairs hearing attended by a sitting United States Attorney General, during which Attorney General Janet Reno supported establishment of the Indian Country Law Enforcement Initiative to create tribal justice programs and provide direct funding from DOJ to Indian Tribes for such programs. Mr. Harte received his LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from the Georgetown an University Law Center, and his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law. John is adjunct professor of "Federal Indian Law and Policy" at American University's Washington Internships for Native Students program, and has taught "Federal Indian Law" at Catholic University Columbus School of Law and American University Washington College of Law.

John Prendergast is Co-Chair of the ENOUGH Project. During the Clinton administration, John was Director of African Affairs at the National Security Council, where he was directly involved in a number of peace processes throughout Africa, including the peace deal between Ethiopia and Eritrea. John also has worked for the State Department, members of Congress, the UN, human rights organizations, and think tanks such as the International Crisis Group and the U.S. Institute of Peace. He has authored eight books on Africa, the latest of which he co-authored with actor/activist Don Cheadle, entitled "Not on Our Watch," a New York Times bestseller (www.notonourwatchbook.com). He also wrote "God, Oil and Country: Changing the Logic of War in Sudan," and "Frontline Diplomacy: Humanitarian Aid and Conflict in Africa." John co-produced the documentary about northern Uganda called "Journey into Sunset." He has been part of three episodes of CBS' 60 Minutes which earned an Emmy Award for Best Continuing News Coverage. He is helping to spearhead a campaign involving the NBA and Participant Productions to widen awareness on Darfur. He was involved in the making of two recent documentaries, "Darfur Now" and "Sand and Sorrow". John regularly contributes op-ed columns to major newspapers and journals. John travels regularly to Africa's war zones on fact-finding missions, peace-making initiatives, and awareness-raising trips involving network news programs, celebrities, and politicians. He is a visiting professor at the University of San Diego and the American University in Cairo.

Horace Julian Bond was born in Nashville, Tennessee, in January 1940. His father, Dr. Horace Mann Bond, was the first president of Fort Valley State College, and in 1945 became the first black president of the country's oldest black private college, Pennsylvania's Lincoln University. The Bond family lived at Lincoln until 1957, when Dr. Bond became dean of the School of Education at Atlanta University. His mother, Julia Washington Bond, retired in her 90s after working for decades as a librarian. Julian Bond graduated from the George School, a coeducational Quaker school in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in 1957, and entered Morehouse College in Atlanta that same year. While still a student, Bond was a founder of the Committee on Appeal for Human Rights (COAHR), a student civil rights organization that helped win integration of Atlanta's movie theaters, lunch counters, and parks. Bond was also one of several hundred students from across the South who helped to form the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). He later became SNCC's communications director, responsible for its printing and publicity departments and editing the SNCC newsletter, The Student Voice. Bond also worked in voter registration drives in the rural South. Bond left Morehouse one semester short of graduation in 1961 to join the staff of a new protest newspaper, The Atlanta Inquirer. He later became the paper's managing editor. Bond returned to Morehouse in 1971 and graduated with a B.A. in English. Turning his attentions to the political sphere, Bond was first elected in 1965 to a one year term in the Georgia House of Representatives. Members of the House voted not to seat him because of his outspoken opposition to the war in Vietnam. Bond was elected two more times before the Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the Georgia House had violated Bond's rights in refusing him his seat. During his service in the Georgia General Assembly, Bond was sponsor or co sponsor of more than 60 bills that became law, and he organized the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, then the largest such group in the nation. He was elected to the Georgia Senate in 1974. When he left the state senate in January 1987, Bond had been elected to public office more times than any other black Georgian, living or dead, ending his tenure only when an unsuccessful congressional race in 1986 prevented him from seeking re election to the Senate. In 1968, Bond was co chairman of the Georgia Loyal National Delegation to the Democratic Convention. The Loyalists, an insurgent group, were successful in unseating the hand picked regulars. Bond was nominated for Vice President of the United States, the first black person to be so nominated by a major political party, though he withdrew his name because he was too young to serve. Bond holds numerous honorary degrees and has served on the boards of many organizations working for social change. He is currently a Distinguished Scholar in Residence at the American University in Washington, D.C., and a professor in the history department at the University of Virginia. In 1995, Bond was elected to his fourth term on the National Board of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. Bond has served as chairman of the NAACP since his election in February 1998. A collection of Bond's essays has been published under the title A Time To Speak, A Time To Act. His poems and articles have appeared in The New York Times, American Negro Poetry, the Los Angeles Times, and several other national publications.

JURG K. SIEGENTHALER, Ph.D., is a Consulting Research Director and the former Executive Director of the Institute for Socio-Financial Studies. Dr. Siegenthaler is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at American University. His research and teaching earlier at Cornell, the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), and Rutgers have encompassed the sociology of work and organizations as well as social policy analysis. Interests in work and retirement issues connected his previous specializations with social-gerontological topics. Among his studies in recent years are an international comparison of rights of older adults, a review of innovations in different social security systems in response to population aging and other social changes, an examination of how systems of social protection provide for older single women, and a review of flexible work schedules and older workers. He has been a visiting researcher with the International Social Security Association and the U.S. Social Security Administration. Katarzyna Grabska (M.A. International Relations, the Johns Hopkins University, SAIS, Washington DC) has been working as a Projects Coordinator and Researcher at the Forced Migration and Refugee Studies program at the American University in Cairo since July 2002. She conducted a study on the livelihood strategies of Sudanese refugees in Egypt. Between December 2004 and April 2006, she was the DRC project coordinator and researcher at AUC carrying out and coordinating research on rights policies of forced migration in Egypt and the Middle East in general. Kasia has experience working in the field of refugees, human rights, and humanitarian assistance in Brussels, Cambodia, Guinea, Vietnam, and Egypt. She was also associate producer in a documentary project on the life of Sudanese refugees in Egypt. As of October 2005, Kasia is a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex studying the impact of forced migration on gender relations of returnees and stayees in Southern Sudan.

Kathleen was a Fall 2006 Research Assistant at IGE and is a graduate student at American University and Wesleyan Theological Seminary.

Katrina Mason has been working with Georgetown Community Church since September 2007. From helping her mother teach Sunday school to babysitting children of all ages to being the third "helper" parent for her three younger siblings all through primary and secondary school, she has loved working with children as far back as she can remember. She is currently a Masters and Law Student at American University studying International Law & Security, but says the the main motivation in working to better the world is to help keep the smiling faces and bright eyes on the faces of all of God's children.

Kent Nethery is the Director of Product Development with Louis Allen Worldwide. Kent has more than 20 years experience in consulting, human resources development, management, and teaching. Kent's areas of expertise include: executive coaching, performance management, management continuity and succession planning, leadership assessment and development, change management, and team development Prior to consulting, Kent was Vice President of Human Resources Development for Allergan, Inc. for ten years, with responsibility for worldwide human resources development activities. He has designed programs that increase communications, trust, and overall team effectiveness. He has conducted weeklong leadership seminars to prepare management for their entrance into multinational markets. Kent also has a thriving executive coaching practice that helps managers zero in on specific performance limitations turning liabilities into assets. Kent serves as adjunct faculty at the American University (Washington D.C.), Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business (Malibu, CA) and National Training Laboratories Institute (Alexandria, VA) where he conducts the Leadership Excellence Program. Khadine Bennett is a law student at American University in Washington, D.C. A former staff member of WILD for Human Rights, and a longtime human rights activist in the Bay Area, she is well recognized and respected as a youth leader in the San Francisco Bay Area, and at the national level. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Bennett was a member of the board at the Third Wave Foundation and an organizer with the California Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League. As a member of WILD for Human Rights, she led the Human Rights Delegation to Durban in 2001 for the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance. Ms. Bennett has been a member of WILD's board of directors since 2004.

Rabbi Leila Gal Berner received ordination from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and a doctorate in medieval Jewish Studies from UCLA. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she lived for ten years. A citizen of both Israel and the United States, Rabbi Berner is also a licensed Israel Government Tourist Guide. For two decades Rabbi Berner has combined rabbinical and academic work, and has taught at Swarthmore and Bryn Mawr Colleges, the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and Emory University. She currently teaches at the George Washington University and American University. She has served Reconstructionist congregations in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Georgia and an unaffiliated congregation in Washington DC. Rabbi Berner was the founding director of the Center for Jewish Ethics and has taught and written extensively on a values-based approach to Jewish ethics A nationally known creator of new Jewish liturgy, she is also a commentator in the Kol Haneshamah prayer book series published by the Reconstructionist Press. Rabbi Berner has also authored many articles on Jewish feminism, Jewish spirituality, new Jewish life cycle rituals, and innovative approaches to Jewish family and community. Rabbi Berner came to learn about Reconstructionism in her late 20's and has been a dedicated and passionate advocate for a Reconstructinist approach to Judaism. In a recently published article Rabbi Berner commented, "I find that Reconstructionism is an approach that allows me to embrace Judaism intellectually, spiritually and emotionally. Its theology speaks powerfully to me, as does its approach to Jewish peoplehood, history and issues of social justice." Most recently, Rabbi Berner has been trained as a Jewish Spiritual Director at the Lev Shomea (Hearing Heart) program sponsored by Aleph: The Alliance for Jewish Renewal. She now works actively as a spiritual director to individuals and groups and is working with a colleague on creating and developing Lev Tahor: A Center for Jewish Spirituality and Learning in the Washington DC area. Rabbi Berner lives in Kensington, Maryland with her life-partner, Franna Ruddell, and their daughter, Kayla Moriya Gal.

Lisa Fuentes is an activist on Latin American and Israeli-Palestinian issues. She is a professor of Latin American Studies at American University. She serves on boards of the D.C. Jewish Community Center, the Washington Office on Latin America, The Family Place, and Global Exchange.

MAHA ELSHINNAWY joined the Board in June 2007 as the AUC representative. Dr. ElShinnawy is a Professor of Management in the School of Business, Economics, and Communication at the American University in Cairo. She and her husband Ahmed have three children, two in Elementary School and a CAC alumnus class of 2008.

Mark Hannum has been teaching in the District of Columbia Public Schools for nine years. He has taught all levels of high school mathematics, as well as physics, chemistry and biology. His teaching style is grounded in experiential learning that attempts to engage students in activities that encourage intuitive mathematic and scientific skills. He also works with his students every year to compete in the FIRST robotics competition that requires students to design, build and compete with a 120-pound robot in six weeks. Mark has had students who have also won grants from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which have lead to several students? inventions becoming patented. Mark has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Physics, a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, and a Master's of Science in Applied and Engineering Physics. He is also an adjunct professor of education at American University, and The George Washington University in Washington DC. He has been the recipient of several awards for outstanding science and mathematics education, including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Teacher of the Year. He is a National Board of Professional Teaching Standards Candidate.

Mark was born in the snowy climes of Buffalo, New York. At age 5, he and his family moved to Center Brunswick, NY, just outside Troy. Mark attended SUNY Albany where he met his future bandmate, John Henderson. Mark received a B.A. and an M.A. in Russian Language and Literature before moving to Washington D.C. in 1991 to attend law school. After practicing law for five years, Mark decided upon a slightly different course and entered divinity school at Wesley Theological Seminary in 1999. He expects to graduate from Wesley in 2002 and enter the United Methodist ministry. Mark is presently serving as United Methodist chaplain at American University, which neighbors the Wesley campus. In addition to his theological studies, he is very active in the movement to obtain full voting representation for the people of the District of Columbia. Mark still lives in Washington, D.C. and hopes to for some time.

Mark Sincevich is the chief perspective officer of his company, Leading with Focus. He works with organizations to develop leaders with more focus and creativity. Mark does this through a unique photography angle in his speaking programs and writing. As a result of Mark's programs, his customers gain a fresh perspective, generate new ideas, sharpen the focus and create more business. Leading with Focus begins with great personal leadership. There are three key components or legs like a solid tripod that support Leading with Focus. The first leg is creativity, the second is powerful communication and the third, or stabilizing leg, is life balance. And all great tripods have a hook underneath the center column. This is typically for a camera bag or a heavy weight, so the tripod doesn't get blown over by a strong wind. Mark calls this weight a Perspective Pad.

Mary Beth Kries is currently a student in the Master's program in Literature at The American University. During the school year, she also works for the Literature department at American as a teaching assistant and Writing Center consultant, helping both graduate and undergraduate students at all stages of the writing process. She is originally from Spokane, Washington, and attended the University of Notre Dame for her undergraduate degree. After earning her M.A., Mary Beth hopes to teach English and composition at the high school level. Mary Beth will be teaching writing courses and SAT Prep in Falls Church and Herndon.

Dr. Gray is a math professor at the American University . Dr Gray also has a distinguished record of leadership in promoting equity and fighting discrimination and injustice. Her activities have included numerous positions of responsibility with Amnesty International, the Association for Women in Mathematics, American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and other organizations.

Mary Stephens is also a Program Assistant for the Writing Workshop. She is a graduate student at American University studying International Peace and Conflict Resolution. She possesses a Bachelors degree in Theatre, focusing on Community and Conflict Resolution. She has taught in Guatemala, Honduras, Uganda, and Rwanda using theatre as catalyst for civic dialogue. She has taught political theatre, theatre history, and acting techniques at high schools throughout the southwest.

With his father in the Defense Department, Matt Holthaus traveled around the world when he was younger and attended The Swiss International School and participated in annual track meets each spring. After returning to the U.S. for the eighth grade, the 110m hurdles, triple jump, decathlon, and 400m were his events. During his senior year at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia, MD, his coach recognized that the 800m, 1500m, and the mile would be his best events. After being seen at The Penn Relays, he was recruited by several colleges. After visiting James Madison, he made his decision. At James Madison, he was a four-time All American, an Academic All American, and set school records in the 800m (1:47.87) and indoor mile (4:01.38). In his first year with the Enclave, he ran 3:58.8 for the indoor mile. He also has personal bests of 1:47.27 for 800m and 3:38.7 for 1500m. At the 1996 Olympic Trials in Atlanta, he placed twelfth in the 1500m (3:46.98). At the 1997 National Indoor Championships, he was second in the mile. In 1998 he placed second in The Pennsylvania Avenue Mile (4:04). For the 1999 Indoor season, he placed first at The New Balance Invitational (4:02.13), third at The Chase Millrose Games (4:01.01), and first at the adidas DC Invitational (4:00.69). He has experimented with mileage as high as 90 per week, but has determined that 60 to 65 miles and cross training work best for him. He also participates in cross-country for strength. In the 1997 National 12K Cross- Country Championships, he placed 76th. Matt is a graduate assistant to track coach Matt Centrowitz at American University where he is pursuing a Master's degree in Film and Video. Recently he won the 1999 National Indoor Mile Championships in Atlanta and is training for The National Outdoor Championships and possibly The Grand Prix Circuit.

Michael Aleo received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts and graduated from the American University Washington College of Law in May 2006 where he received the Public Interest-Public Service Scholarship Award. He graduated cum laude and received honors for his pro bono work. While in law school, Mr. Aleo served as a member of the American University Law Review, interned for United States District Court Judge Gerald Bruce Lee in the Eastern District of Virginia, and worked as a clerk for the law offices of Mooney, Green, Baker & Saindon. Before attending law school, Mr. Aleo worked as a high school and middle school special education instructor and as a researcher for the Service Employeea s International Union. In addition to working with The Bernabei Law Firm, Mr. Aleo is an adjunct professor at American University where he teaches legal writing. Mr. Aleo passed the District of Columbia bar examination in July 2006.

Dr. Michael Barnes is an Adjunct Professor at Argosy University (American School of Professional Psychology) where he teaches courses on Personality Assessment, Integrative Assessment, and Juvenile/Child Forensic Psychology. He is also an adjunct professor at American University teaching the Integrated Battery Assessment course. At the Howard University Counseling Service, he is a consulting psychologist who supervises psychodiagnostics for the Center's predoctoral interns.

Michael Tigar is currently a research professor of law at American University. Tigar will take us through his new book, "Thinking About Terrorism: The Threat to Civil Liberties in Times of National Emergency."

Most recently, Monique Meadows served as the Director of Individual Giving for Big Brothers Big Sisters. In this capacity, she was responsible for cultivating and stewarding individual donors at all levels of giving. For more than 12 years, Monique has worked with progressive nonprofit agencies to develop diverse funding streams, build solid organizational structures and create national and local alliances. Among those organizations are: National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, Whitman-Walker Clinic, National Black Lesbian and Gay Leadership Forum and the National Youth Advocacy Coalition. In her roles as a fundraising and organization development professional, Monique has successfully authored multi-million dollar federal grants, managed internal organization development projects and worked with boards of directors to create viable and inspired strategic plans. Monique has dedicated her life to social justice. This commitment is demonstrated through both her professional and volunteer work. As a volunteer with the Whitman-Walker Clinic, Monique co-facilitated and developed a curriculum for a two support groups for women: 1) Sisters of the Yam, a support group for women of color based on the book by bell hooks; and 2) Living Large, a support group for plus-sized women to explore issues of self-care. Monique is currently a graduate student with the American University in Washington, D.C. She plans to obtain a masters' degree in Organization Development in May 2008.

Prof. Muhammadou M.O. Kah is the founding Dean to lead the School of Information Technology & Communications at the American University of Nigeria. Prior to that, he was a faculty member in the School of Business-Camden, IT & E-commerce at Rutgers University for five years. One of the African continent's eminent scholars on Information Technology and Poverty Reduction and development, Prof. Kah's academic research includes exploring ways in which advances in information communication technologies contribute to poverty reduction, economic growth and development, and enhances quality of life for developing economies and communities. Prof. Kah has over 15 years of experience in higher education as a faculty member, researcher, academic administrator, curriculum and program developer, coordinator of accreditation efforts, financial manager, budget development and strategic planner, having served as Director of Institutional Research and Strategic Planning at Bloomfield College and Chair of the MIS and Operations Management Department at the American University of Sharjah, UAE.

Dr. Rizk is Associate Professor of Economics at the American University in Cairo. She lectures and conducts research on the knowledge economy, its relation to economic theory and to human development, with special emphasis on the realities of developing countries, implications, potential and challenges involved. Of particular interest is the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a driver for economic development. She has done extensive work on the assessment of e-readiness of small and medium enterprises in Egypt and the potential of ICTs for empowering and raising the productivity of firms in the digital economy. She is presently working on issues related to the economics of Access to knowledge (A2K), intellectual property and economic development. Her current research projects focus on Egypt's open source software and on copyright in the Arab music industry. She is also working on a macroeconomic study of Information Technology and Economic Growth in Egypt and the Middle East. She has served as Chair of the Economics Department of the American University in Cairo, research advisor on Egypt's E-readiness at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and is currently the Leader of Egypt's research team within the Research in Africa Network working on ICT for Development, affiliated with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC of Canada). She received her PhD from McMaster University in Canada, and has also taught at the University of Toronto. Nailah Hamdy is a lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the American University in Cairo. She worked for 15 years in TV news, as a producer/reporter and videotape editor, for a variety of international stations including CBS News and ZDF.

Nicholas J. Long, Ph.D., is a psychologist and special educator who has taught on the faculties of American University and Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He has piloted model programs for troubled children and youth in schools, treatment centers, and at the National Institute for Mental Health. His numerous publications provide practical carry-away skills to professionals on the frontline. Dr. Long is currently president of the Life Space Crisis Intervention Institute, which provides advanced training to professionals working to reclaim our most challenging students. He is author of numerous publications including Conflict in the Classroom and Life Space Intervention.

Nick Sakurai is in his fourth year as an APIA U facilitator and consultant. When not training for OCA, Nick works full-time at the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Ally Resource Center at American University and is also completing a masters degree in International Training and Education. Prior to his current job, Nick spent two years working at the United States Student Association (USSA) Foundation as the Director of the LGBT Student Empowerment Project, representing LGBT college student interests in national coalitions on immigration, hate crimes, marriage, and transgender issues. During his tenure, Nick organized the first ever LGBT Student of Color National Summit, a unique gathering drawing 50 students from across the country. Prior to working for USSA, he did extensive work as a student activist at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), where he co-founded an LGBT student of color organization and organized several educational panels of APIA LGBT students. While earning his B.A. at UIUC, Nick also worked to secure funding to hire two new full-time professionals in the campus LGBT office and helped build a multi-campus network that successfully fought for domestic partner health care benefits in the University of Illinois system.

Nicole M. Alford, Ph.D. is a clinical-forensic psychologist licensed to practice professional psychology in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia. She has over ten years of experience working or consulting for various local, state, and federal agencies, including the Courts, proffering opinions on various psycholegal issues. Dr. Alford began her career at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital, the maximum security forensic hospital in the state of Maryland. Since then, she has had invaluable experiences in forensic and correctional psychologies, acute inpatient psychiatry, child and adolescent psychology, health behavioral psychology, substance abuse assessment and treatment, and vocational assessment and counseling. She has particular expertise in psychological testing and assessment, and is proficient in assessing children, adolescents, and adults. From 2000 until 2006, Dr. Alford was employed with the Superior Court of the District of Columbia's Child Guidance Clinic assessing juveniles and their families, children in the abuse and neglect system, supervising doctoral-level psychology trainees, and overseeing child custody evaluations and assessments related to domestic relations matters. She is currently a consultant to various law enforcement and intelligence agencies regarding personnel selection for sensitive and high risk positions, and continues to perform various types of forensic evaluations privately. Dr. Alford is an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Psychology at Argosy University (The American School of Professional Psychology) and an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at American University in Washington, D.C., Prince George's Community College in Largo, Maryland, and is a guest lecturer at various local colleges and universities.

For the last twelve years, Paul has been Chief of Staff for Senator Herb Kohl, Democrat of Wisconsin. Before that he served two years as Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Government Information for Senator Kohl, then ranking Democratic member of that subcommittee. He is also currently an Adjunct Professor at American University teaching an undergraduate political science course. Paul received a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters in Public Policy from Georgetown University and a law degree from Northwestern University, where he was an Associate Editor of the Northwestern University Law Review. After graduating from law school in 1991, he clerked for a Federal District Court Judge in California, and then practiced law with the Washington office of Mayer, Brown and Platt (now Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw). Paul lives in Washington DC with his wife Dianne and two children, Christopher and Olivia.

He is a Professor of Law at the Washington College of Law, American University, where he teaches environmental law, corporate law, securities law and legal accounting. He has also taught at the George Washington University, the University of Baltimore, the University of Richmond, the Antioch Law School, and the UniversitA de Droit, Da Economie et Des Sciences da Aix-Marseille III. He has lectured and presented papers in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Colombia, Chile and Nigeria.

Senior Attorney Phil G. Busey, member of the Cherokee Nation and Delaware tribe, brings nearly 30 years of legal and corporate business experience to Busey Law. He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has 29 years experience practicing both private and corporate law, representing small and large corporations, Indian Tribal Government and regional and national based financial institutions. The graduate of Oklahoma City University School of Law has multiple years of experience working on legislative matters including hearings and drafting legislation at the Congressional level. Mr. Busey's corporate experience includes organization, management and business development and is specialized in all phases of contracting both government and private, minority business, 8(a), strategic alliances and presentations for business development and strategic planning at all corporate levels. In addition to his law practice, Mr. Busey is Chairman and CEO of The Busey Group of Companies. Today he is considered by many as one of the top minds in the nation regarding Tribal economic development and American Indian Law. He has received numerous awards and recognitions for his commitment and service to the American Indian people. Ralph Berenger, book reviews editor, is assistant professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of the American University in Cairo, where he teaches international communications, mass media theory, and mass media management. Berenger has held academic positions in the United States and has worked on newspaper and journals in the US and East Africa.

Ralph Estes is the Executive Director of Stakeholder's Alliance and Senior Scholar at the Institute for Policy Studies. Dr. Estes is a professor emeritus in business at American University, co-founder of the Center for the Advancement of Public Policy and former president of the national Accountants for the Public Interest and of the Texas Civil Liberties Union. He has authored a number of books, monographs and scholarly articles on corporate responsibility and accountability and is currently working on a series of books on these topics with the first being a response to "the Enron moment".

Reem Saad is a social anthropologist working at the Social Research Center of the American University in Cairo. Her areas of interest are rural society, public culture and ethnographic film.

Renee Camus (Founder, Artistic Director) earned a Master of Arts degree in dance from American University with her lecture/performance, What Goes Around, Comes Around, comparing the Cancan and the Charleston. She also holds a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the Ballroom Dance Company and teaches swing at Joy of Motion. She is also a lecturer in tap at American University in Washington, D.C., and at Montgomery College in Rockville. She has performed with companies such as the Commonwealth Vintage Dancers, Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble, and toured with the show Dancing on Common Ground. She currently performs with Tappening, a rhythm tap ensemble; PedAntics, a clogging group; and the Culkin Adults Irish Dancers. She has worked with research materials and documentation at the Dance Heritage Coalition and the Library of Congress. Renee began her studies at age 5 with ballet, jazz, and tap dancing, and eventually became involved with folk and country dances, including morris, sword, and English and Appalachian clogging. Renee has also studied Renaissance and Baroque dance, and has extensive experience in nineteenth and early twentieth century social dances, such as the Waltz, Polka, One-step, Fox-trot, Tango, Lindy Hop, Shim-Sham, and West Coast Swing.

Robert Healy, Senior Vice President of Wexler & Walker, has more than 30 years of experience in energy, environment, international trade, transportation and global public policy. Mr. Healy joined Wexler & Walker in 2000 after a 25-year career with ARCO, one of the nation?s largest energy companies, where he concluded his service as Vice President, Federal Relations and corporate officer. In 2000, ARCO merged with BP. At Wexler & Walker, Mr. Healy works with clients on major energy legislation, environmental policy and regulations, transportation and shipping legislation and telecommunication matters. He has helped Fortune 500 companies design and implement political engagement and corporate reputation/relationship building programs. Mr. Healy has served several former members of Congress, including the late Secretary of the Treasury and Senator Lloyd Bentsen (D-TX), the late Vice President and Senator Hubert Humphrey (D-MN) and Senator John Culver (D-IA). His political posts include former chairman of the Democratic National Committee?s National Finance Council, executive council chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council, and co-director of Podium, Script and Speeches for the Democratic National Party Conventions. Mr. Healy is also a member of the executive committee and board of BI-PAC, the Business- Industry Political Action Committee. Mr. Healy holds an Adjunct Professorship of Political Science at American University, where he teaches a graduate course on Corporations and Political Behavior. He was awarded a PhD in political science from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the College of Southern Maryland, a gubernatorial appointment.

Robert P. Pincus is Chairman of the Advisory Board of MMP Capital Partners, L.P. He is Chairman of the Board of BB&T, DC Metro Region and was President and Chief Executive Officer from 1996-2002. Headquartered in Winston-Salem, NC, BB&T is the 12th largest financial holding company in the U.S., with over $75 billion of assets. From 1991-1996, Mr. Pincus was President and Chief Executive Officer of Franklin National Bank of Washington, DC, which he grew from $45 million in assets to $802 million in assets, prior to its sale to BB&T. From 1986-1991, Mr. Pincus was the regional president of the DC metropolitan region of Sovran Bank. From 1971-1986, Mr. Pincus was with the $1.2 billion (assets) DC National Bancorp, Inc., where he eventually rose to be President and Chief Executive Officer, prior to its merger with Sovran Bank. Mr. Pincus is a member of the Board of Directors of the Mills Corporation, a Trustee of the University of Maryland Foundation, Inc., a Trustee of American University, Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Kogod School of Business/American University and Vice Chairman of the DC Public Charter School Resource Center. Mr. Pincus is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Smith School of Business/The University of Maryland, a director of the Board of Trustees for the Capital Children's Museum and a member of the board of directors of Milestone Merchant Partners. Mr. Pincus received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland in 1968 and his Masters in Business Administration from American University in 1971.

Robin Broad is a professor of international development at American University. She teaches courses on economic globalization and development, as well as environment and development, with a focus on social, environmental, and economic accountability. Her most recent book, Global Backlash: Citizen Initiatives for a Just World Economy (Rowman and Littlefield, March 2002) combines her analysis with 45 original documents to demonstrate that opponents to the current corporate-led globalization present viable, sophisticated alternatives. She is author of several books including Unequal Alliance: The World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the Philippines. Robin is widely published in academic and policy publications, including Foreign Policy, World Development, World Policy Journal, the New York Times, and the Washington Post. She has previously worked as an international economist at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the U.S. House of Representatives, and the U.S. Department of Treasury. Robin received her MA. And PhD in development studies from Princeton University.

CURRENT WORK: In addition to his work at IPS, Saul is teaching international relations and politics at American Univeristy in Washington, D.C. from Aug 2006-May 2007.

Previously, he worked in North America in consulting roles for ePhibian and in Marketing for Integrated Systems and Internet Solutions. He has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Southern Cross University in Australia. Steve is also a visiting professor of sales and marketing at the American University in Bulgaria.
