As a urologist, Dr. Horner is highly trained to treat disorders of the male and female urinary tract (bladder, ureter, kidney, and urethra) and the male reproductive system. Urology is classified as a surgical subspecialty, but since a wide variety of clinical problems are encountered when treating urological conditions, knowledge of internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, and other specialties is required. Dr. Scott Horner was born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania and attended Owen J. Roberts High School where he graduated as valedictorian. He attended the Pennsylvania State University where he majored in premedicine and earned membership in Alpha Epsilon Delta, the honorary premedicine fraternity. He went to medical school at the University of Pittsburgh and then progressed to a urology residency at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. Dr. Horner then practiced urology as a Lieutenant Commander, MC, U.S. Naval Reserve, at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, where he was later named chief of the urology department. In 1994, he returned to practice urology in Reading, Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Berks County Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the American Urological Association, and the American College of Surgeons. He is also involved as a member of the Official Board of Pine Swamp Church and Lodge 62 of F. & A.M. Dr. Horner is on active staff at the St. Joseph Medical Center and Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He is on the consulting staff of HealthSouth Reading Rehabilitation Hospital.
