Mr. Carlson, age 56, has been one of our Directors since 2007. Mr. Carlson has been our President and Chief Executive Officer since September 1, 2007, and Chairman of the Board since May 8, 2008. Prior to that, he served as our President and Chief Operating Officer from 2005. Previously, he served as an Executive Vice President of UnitedHealth Group and President of its UnitedHealthcare business unit, which served more than 10 million members in HMO and PPO plans nationwide. Mr. Carlson also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Kidney Foundation, Morningside College and the Health Sector Advisory Council of Duke University s Fuqua School of Business, in addition to numerous community charitable organizations. On May 8, 2008, Mr. Carlson was re-elected as a Director of the Company for a three-year term that expires in 2011.

In addition to his AARP activities, Dr. Leonard Kirschner is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of Sun Health, Del E. Webb Memorial Hospital, La Loma Senior Living Services and the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Kirschner recently was asked by Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano to lead a comprehensive review of operations of the State Veteran Home. He is a Trustee of the Arizona Perinatal Trust, a member of the Arizona State Medicaid Advisory Committee, and was a member of the Harvard School of Public Health Leadership Council from 2003 to 2006. Dr. Kirschner is a former Director of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS). He is credited with establishing the Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS) under AHCCCS, which serves the elderly, blind and disabled, who are in need of nursing home care.
James W. Truess is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of AMERIGROUP, overseeing all aspects of the Company's financial operations. Mr. Truess has enjoyed a two-decade career in financial roles, including the past 18 years in the managed care industry, and the last 11 years as a Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining AMERIGROUP, he served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Group Health Cooperative, one of the largest vertically integrated health maintenance organizations in the country. Mr. Truess holds a master's degree in Finance from Seattle University and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Washington. Leon A. Root is Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of AMERIGROUP Corporation. In this role, he is responsible for the information systems and strategies to meet organizational business goals. Mr. Root joined the Company in 2002 as Chief Technology Officer. Previously, he served as Chief Information Officer at Medunite, Inc., a private e-commerce company founded by Aetna, Cigna, PacifiCare Health Systems and five other national managed care companies. Mary McCluskey, MD is Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for AMERIGROUP, overseeing healthcare services for the Company's 1.7 million members. Prior to AMERIGROUP, Dr. McCluskey served in a variety of senior medical positions with Aetna Inc., most recently as Chief Medical Officer, Northeast Region. Prior to Aetna, Dr. McCluskey was Vice President of Medical Affairs for Medpartners Medical Management in Tampa. She previously served as Internist/Medical Director of Bridgeton Health Center in St. Louis. Dr. McCluskey began her career as an Urgent Care Physician in St. Louis. Richard C. Zoretic is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of AMERIGROUP Corporation. In this role, he is responsible for AMERIGROUP's health plan operations in 11 states, with the Company's four regional Chief Executive Officers -- Northeastern, Mid-Atlantic, Southeastern, Southwestern -- reporting directly to him. With over 28 years of management experience in healthcare finance and insurance, Mr. Zoretic joined AMERIGROUP from CIGNA Dental Health, a national dental benefits provider, where he served as Senior Vice President, Network Operations and Distribution. From 1994 to 2000, he held a variety of leadership positions at UnitedHealth Group, including Regional President of United Healthcare's Mid-Atlantic operations, Senior Vice President of Corporate Sales and Marketing and President of the company's Middle Market Business, where he had overall responsibility for United Healthcare's largest commercial market segment. Mr. Zoretic began his career in 1980 with MetLife's Group Life & Health operations where he held a series of positions of increasing responsibility over a 13-year period. Linda Whitley-Taylor is Executive Vice President, Associate Services for AMERIGROUP Corporation. In this position, Ms. Whitley-Taylor is responsible for Associate Services functions and programs including human resources, Associate policy development, compensation and benefits administration, travel and events planning, and training and leadership development. She has two decades of experience in the field of human resources and talent development. Ms. Whitley-Taylor came to AMERIGROUP from Genworth Financial, where she served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources Operations at the company's Richmond, Va., headquarters. At Genworth, her roles in human resources, training and quality steadily increased in responsibilities and scope, ultimately resulting in oversight of human resources operations for 6,500 employees in 24 countries. In addition to her international experience, Ms. Whitley-Taylor has significant expertise in talent development and people strategy initiatives and is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
Nancy L. Grden is Executive Vice President for AMERIGROUP Corporation. She is responsible for leading the Company's Public Policy Institute, the AMERIGROUP Foundation, public policy and partnerships, eHealth and branding. She previously served as the Company's Chief Marketing Officer responsible for growth and product development. Ms. Grden has extensive leadership experience across several industries in building and launching new ventures, new product and service development, marketing, public policy, and public-private partnerships. Prior to joining AMERIGROUP, she was Founder and President of Avenir, LLC, providing consulting and interim executive services to new ventures, as well as Chief Executive Officer for Lifescape, LLC, a web-based behavioral health services company. She also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for FHC Health Systems, parent company of ValueOptions. Previously, Ms. Grden was Executive Vice President, Marketing Services for NationsBank, before the firm became part of Bank of America. She also has public sector background with university, federal government and state government positions. Senator Graham serves as the Assistant Minority Floor Leader in the Missouri Senate. Prior to his service in the Senate, Senator Chuck Graham served four terms in the Missouri House of Representatives. Previously, Senator Graham worked as the Missouri Coordinator for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Project at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He has served as Chair of the Missouri Assistive Technology Council. In 1990, he was recognized by the U.S. Congressional Task Force on the Rights and Empowerment of Americans with Disabilities for his leadership in passing the ADA Act. In 1997, the National Rehabilitation Association bestowed upon him the E.B. Whitten Silver Medallion and the Governor's Council on Disability gave him their Breaking the Barriers Award. He has been honored on four occasions as the Elected Official of the Year by Services for Independent Living. He was named Legislator of the Year by Disabled Citizens Alliance for Independence in December 2000 and 2001. This year he was honored by the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians with the 2007 MAFP Legislative Award.
Dallas "Rob" Sweezy was appointed to his current role by the President. From 2001 to 2004, he served as the Director of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services at the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services. Currently president of a communications firm, he has served on the Board of Directors for the Northern Virginia Parents of Down Syndrome, a local advocacy group.
Mr. Fullwood, age 60, has been one of our Directors since February 11, 2009. Mr. Fullwood retired from Xerox Corporation in June 2008 after serving as Corporate Vice President, Executive Chief of Staff and Marketing Officer for Xerox North America since 2004. Prior to that, Mr. Fullwood held several executive and general management leadership positions with Xerox, including Corporate Vice President. Mr. Fullwood currently serves as a Director of the Vanguard Group and the Vanguard Funds and SPX Corporation. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Rochester, the Rochester Boy Scouts of America, Monroe Community College Foundation, the Urban League and Colgate Rochester Crozier Divinity School.
An advocate for long-term service expansion and improvement in home and community-based services, James Parker IV has worked directly with CMS Real Choice/Systems Change and Robert Wood Johnson to develop and implement New Mexico's Self-Directed Medicaid waiver. He also worked to institute the State Medicaid Option for Personal Care, which features a consumer control and direction component, and he helped bring Medicaid "buy-in" for working disabled individuals to the State. Having worked for three independent living centers (Ability Center, Las Cruces; Atlantis Community, Denver; VOLAR, El Paso), he also served as Accessibility Compliance Coordinator for the City of El Paso, Texas, and as VISTA Volunteer for Coalition of Texans with Disabilities. He was actively involved in the formation of ADAPT nationally and in Texas.

Jane Woods is the former Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources and now works for George Mason University's College of Health and Human Services. In the College's new Department of Health Administration and Policy, Woods provides assistance in analyzing state policies and trends. Previously, she completed an eight-year term as a member of the Virginia Senate and a four-year term as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Mr. Lee Schulz has 35 years of experience in social services, disability rights and healthcare. Of those years, 23 years of experience has been in Wisconsin and 21 years with independent living. He has given many regional presentations on fund development and organizational management for disability organizations and is well-known within the disability rights community across the country. As the Executive Director of IndependenceFirst in Milwaukee, he has guided a small organization of seven and a $260,000 budget to a dynamic organization of 90 in-house staff and 1,200 PCW's and a budget of $27 million. IndependenceFirst has developed several innovative programs such as the statewide Women and Abuse Program, Alternative Financing Program, Home Ownership Program and the Try A Gadget resource center. Mr. Schulz has served several terms on the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) Board of Directors, served on the SILC, co-Founded the Wisconsin Coalition of Independent Living Centers (WCILC) and served on several Research and Training Center Advisory committees on disability-related issues.
Lex Frieden is Professor of Health Informatics and Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and he is Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Mr. Frieden is also Senior Vice President at TIRR|MemorialHermann Hospital in Houston, Texas, where he directs the ILRU Independent Living Research Utilization Program a research, training and technical assistance program on independent living for people with disabilities and those who are aging. Mr. Frieden has served as chairperson of the National Council on Disability, president of Rehabilitation International, and chairperson of the American Association of People with Disabilities. Credited with defining and pioneering the concept of "independent living" in the early 1970's, he has published many articles and papers and he speaks frequently on the subject. Mr. Frieden was instrumental in conceiving and drafting the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). He has received two Presidential Citations for his work in the field of disability. A graduate of Tulsa University, Mr. Frieden has been honored as a Distinguished Alumnus. He also holds a master's degree in social psychology from the University of Houston where he completed doctoral requirements in rehabilitation psychology. In 2004, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in law (LL.D.) by the National University of Ireland.

Mark Johnson was recently awarded the 2007 Henry B. Betts Award from the American Association of People with Disabilities in honor of his achievements in improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. A one-time counselor at the Charlotte Rehabilitation Hospital, he helped establish the Metrolina Chapter of the National Paraplegia Foundation and one of the first Title VII Independent Living Centers in the U.S. In Denver in the 1980s, Johnson ran the Transitional Living Program at Holistic Approaches to Independent Living (HAIL) and was subsequently its Director of Advocacy. He also became Colorado's first Statewide Independence Living Coordinator. Johnson also helped to create Americans Disabled for Accessible Transportation (ADAPT) in 1984, a grassroots-driven organization that has been an effective force for change in the national disability rights movement. In 1987, Johnson assumed the position of Director of Advocacy at the Shepherd Center, recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country.
Mark R. Meiners, Ph.D., is a Professor of Health Policy in the College of Health and Human Services at George Mason University. Dr. Meiners specializes in the areas of aging and health with emphasis on financing and reimbursement issues. He is nationally recognized as one of the leading experts on financing and program development in long-term care. Among his noteworthy recent accomplishments is his leadership of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Medicare/Medicaid Integration Program, an initiative designed to help states develop new systems of care that better coordinate acute and long-term care. In addition, he has led the RWJF Partnership for Long-Term Care, an innovative state-based long-term care insurance program, since its beginning in 1987. His path-breaking research on long-term care insurance has been a major catalyst to the current interest in this topic and his work on Medicare/Medicaid integration has helped advance chronic care improvement strategies for all aged and disabled populations. Dr. Meiners holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in economics from Georgetown University and a B.A. in economics with distinction from the University of Wisconsin.
Matt Davies is a healthcare advocate focusing on the challenges and barriers faced by older adults and people with disabilities. Mr. Davies served as the CEO of UnitedHealthcare in Central and North Florida from 1997 -2006. Prior to United, he worked 13 years in healthcare for Prudential. His primary responsibilities were overall operations, plan services and financial performance. Mr. Davies' member-centric approach resulted in his health plan receiving the highest ranking for member satisfaction of the over 20 distinct United health plans around the country in 2005. Mr. Davies became a quadriplegic in a 2005 car accident. He hopes to use his new perspective and his 20 years of professional experience as a healthcare executive to make a difference in his community. He is looking at how healthcare services are made available to the elderly and to people with disabilities, and how these people are supported in their efforts to be contributing and productive members of the workforce. Mr. Davies graduated from Colgate University with a bachelor's degree in 1984. He serves on the Winter Park Health Foundation and has served on the American Red Cross Board for Greater Orlando, including Chairperson in 2004.

As Executive Director of NAMI Tennessee, Sita Diehl leads that State's chapter of an organization dedicated to improving quality of life of individuals and families affected by mental illness. Her chapter provides support and education, advocates for fair and nondiscriminatory laws at the federal and state level, and works to eliminate the stigma surrounding severe mental illness.

Dr. Reinhardt, age 71, has been one of our Directors since 2002. He is the James Madison Professor of Political Economy and Public Affairs of Princeton University, a Trustee of Duke University and of its Duke University Health System, a Trustee of the H&Q Healthcare Investors and H&Q Life Sciences Investors, and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the American Medical Association, Health Affairs and several other journals. Dr. Reinhardt serves on the Board of Boston Scientific Corporation. He is a Commissioner on the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation s Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured. Until 2002, he had served for five years on the Center for Health Care Strategies, a non-profit think tank focused on improving managed-care techniques for the Medicaid and State Children s Health Insurance Program populations. On May 10, 2007, Dr. Reinhardt was re-elected as a Director of the Company for a three-year term that expires in 2010.
William H. Graves, Ed.D., C.R.C., serves as the Dean and Professor of Educational Leadership and Counseling, Darden College of Education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. Dr. Graves is the author and co-author of research articles, technical publications, and books in counseling and disability policy and research. He served as the Director of the nation's only Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision. His research in blindness and low vision was funded by state and federal agencies for over 10 years. For his research contributions, he has received the Distinguished Service awards from the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association and the National Association of Rehabilitation Research and Training Centers. He also received the Warren C. Bledsoe Award for Outstanding Contributions in Research in the Field of Blindness and Low Vision. Dr. Graves has held national leadership offices in numerous professional associations and certification bodies. He has been appointed to disability policy and state educational licensing bodies by the governors of Mississippi and Virginia. He was appointed as the Director of the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research by President George H. W. Bush and confirmed by the United States Senate. Dr. Graves received a bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University, a master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, and a doctoral degree in Student Personnel from the University of Florida.
