Amgen Inc.

Kevin Sharer has been Amgen's chief executive officer and president since May 2000, and he has also been chairman of the company's Board of Directors since January 2001. From October 1992 to May 2000, Sharer was Amgen's president and chief operating officer. He has been a director of Amgen since November 1992. Before joining Amgen, Sharer was president of the Business Markets Division of MCI Communications. Prior to MCI, Sharer served in a variety of executive capacities at General Electric and was a consultant for McKinsey & Company. Sharer serves on the Board of Directors of Northrop Grumman Corporation and Chevron.

Robert Bradway became executive vice president and chief financial officer for Amgen in April 2007. He joined the company in 2006 as vice president, Operations Strategy. Prior to joining Amgen, Bradway spent 18 years at Morgan Stanley in New York and London, where he was a managing director in investment banking. He led Morgan Stanley's healthcare practice in Europe for several years and also ran the company's European banking department. Bradway holds a BA in Biology from Amherst College and an MBA from Harvard University.

Tom Flanagan became senior vice president and CIO in September 2006. Prior to that, he led Amgen's Global ERP program since February 2005. He joined Amgen in June 2004 as vice president, Information Systems. Prior to joining Amgen, Flanagan spent eight years at MCI, where he served in a variety of executive capacities, including CIO and senior vice president of Global Service Delivery. Before joining MCI in December 1995, Flanagan spent 24 years as an officer in the United States Navy. Flanagan is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, MIT, U.S. Naval War College, and Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

George J. Morrow has served as a director of Align since February 2006. He is currently the Executive Vice President, Global Commercial Operations at Amgen Inc., a global biotechnology company, where he also served as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing between 2001 and 2003. From 1992 to 2001, Mr. Morrow held multiple leadership positions at GlaxoSmithKline Inc. and its subsidiaries, including President and Chief Executive Officer of Glaxo Wellcome Inc. Mr. Morrow holds a B.S. in chemistry from Southampton College, Long Island University, an M.S. in Biochemistry from Bryn Mawr College and an M.B.A. from Duke University.

Dr. Perlmutter is Executive Vice President for Research and Development at Amgen. A graduate of Reed College (Portland, Oregon), Dr. Perlmutter received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Washington University (St. Louis) in 1979. Thereafter he pursued clinical training in internal medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and at the University of California at San Francisco. From 1981 to 1984 he was a Lecturer in the Division of Biology at the California Institute of Technology. He joined the Departments of Medicine and Biochemistry and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the University of Washington (Seattle) in 1984, and in 1989 became Professor and founding Chairman of the Department of Immunology there. During this period, Dr. Perlmutter focused his scientific efforts on the elucidation of signaling pathways governing lymphocyte development and activation. In 1997 he left the University of Washington to join Merck and Co., ultimately rising to the rank of Executive Vice President, Worldwide Basic and Preclinical Research. He left Merck in 2001 to join Amgen in California. Dr. Perlmutter is also a director of Stem Cells, Inc., a Trustee of Reed College, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Systems Biology, a not-for-profit research institute based in Seattle, Washington. He was previously President of the American Association of Immunologists, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

As senior vice president and chief compliance officer, Anna Richo oversees Amgen’s compliance program, which promotes ethical business conduct throughout the organization and touches on all company activities related to product development, manufacturing, marketing and reporting. Richo joined Amgen in 2003 as vice president, Law. Previously, she spent 12 years at Baxter Healthcare Corporation in roles of increasing responsibility in law and compliance, including vice president, Law, for their Bioscience Division. Additionally, for more than five years she served on the Board of Directors of Cytyc Corporation and was a member of the Audit and Finance Committees. Richo received her Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University College of Law and her Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. She co-chairs the Straus Institute Council of Distinguished Advisors at Pepperdine University’s School of Law.

Brian McNamee joined Amgen as senior vice president, Human Resources in June 2001. Before joining Amgen, McNamee was vice president of Human Resources at Dell Computers in Austin, Texas. He has held a variety of international executive positions at General Electric over a 12-year period, and he also served as senior vice president for the West Coast division of NBC in Burbank, California. McNamee received his bachelor's degree in journalism from St. Bonaventure University and received his master's degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University in 1987.

David Scott became senior vice president, general counsel and secretary in March 2004. From May 1999 to February 2004, Scott served as senior vice president and general counsel of Medtronic, Inc., a medical technology company, and also as secretary from January 2000. From December 1997 to April 1999, Scott served as general counsel of London-based United Distillers & Vintners. From April 1996 to November 1997, Scott served as general counsel of London-based International Distillers & Vintners.

Dr. Fabrizio Bonanni is Amgen's executive vice president, Operations, overseeing the company's global production activities as well as site and facilities management. Since joining Amgen in April 1999, Bonanni has served as senior vice president, Manufacturing; senior vice president, Quality and Compliance; and corporate compliance officer. Previously, he was corporate vice president, Regulatory and Clinical Affairs and corporate vice president, Quality System for Baxter International Inc., a company he joined in 1974. At Baxter, Bonanni spent half of his career in international operations, including an eight-year assignment as vice president, Quality and Regulatory Affairs, at the company's European headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. His responsibilities at Baxter included quality and regulatory affairs, manufacturing, microbiology and sterilization engineering, and total quality management, for (bio)pharmaceuticals, blood derivatives, medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics. Bonanni earned his doctorate in chemistry, magna cum laude, from the University of Florence and has done postdoctoral work in physiological chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a state-certified chemist and a member of the Ordine dei Chimici of Tuscany. He is an alumnus of the Institute for International Management, Northwestern University, J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and of the Executive Program in Manufacturing, Harvard University, Graduate School of Business Administration. Bonanni is fluent in French and English, in addition to his native Florentine Italian. Bonanni serves on the Board of Trustees for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. He also serves as a Trustee of the Science Technology and Research Trust of Puerto Rico.

Since May 2005, Cynthia Schwalm has been Amgen's vice president and general manager of the Oncology Business Unit. She oversees sales, marketing, access and reimbursement, advocacy and new product launch teams for Amgen's oncology business in the United States. From May of 2003 to May of 2005, Schwalm served as senior director of Marketing in Oncology. Before joining Amgen, Schwalm was managing director of Ortho Biotech, Johnson & Johnson's Biotechnology commercial operations unit in the U.K. and Ireland. Previous to this role, Schwalm was Executive Director of J&J Pharma's Global Franchise Development for the Analgesia and Women's Health Franchises. Schwalm held various sales and marketing positions in J&J from 1984 until joining Amgen. She holds a master's degree in business administration from the Wharton School of Business, and is a member of the Healthcare Business Women's Association.

Dr. David Lacey is vice president, Research and Amgen South San Francisco Site Leader. Lacey joined Amgen in 1994 as associate medical director, Department of Experimental Pathology and has held several positions of increasing responsibility over the past 12 years. Prior to joining Amgen, Lacey was assistant professor of Pathology at Jewish Hospital, Washington University Medical Center. Lacey received a B.S. and M.D. from the University of Colorado.

Helen Torley has been vice president, and general manager of the Nephrology Business Unit since October of 2003. Torley joined Amgen in June of 2002 in the role of therapeutic area head, Inflammation Global Marketing. She began her industry career at Sandoz/Novartis in 1990, heading up the clinical development program for Sandimmune in rheumatoid arthritis. During her 7 years at Novartis, Torley held positions of increasing responsibility in medical marketing and marketing, ultimately serving as vice president of Medical Affairs, with responsibility for medical marketing and phase IIIB/IV trials across all therapeutic areas. In 1997, Torley joined Bristol Myers Squibb and held various positions, including RVP cardiovascular and metabolic sales, heading up the 150 sales representatives from the California sales team. Prior to coming to the United States, she was senior registrar in rheumatology at the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, Scotland. Torley received her MBChB in 1984 from the University of Glasgow and her MRCP in 1987.

Dr. Nahed Ahmed is vice president, Project Planning and Management for Research and Development. Prior to joining Amgen, Ahmed held several positions at Aventis Pharmaceuticals from 1993 to 1999, including senior vice president of Global Productivity, Portfolio, and Project Management (PPPM). Ahmed is recognized in Who's Who in Frontier Science and Technology, Personalities of America, International Directory of Distinguished Leadership, and Empire Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals. She was selected as a recipient of the YWCA TWIN (Tribute to Women in Industry) Award. Ahmed was selected in 2004 as an honorary foreign member of the Beijing Municipal Government and awarded an honorary professorship at Peking Union Medical College. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors of Chronogen Inc.

Denise has more than 24 years of experience encompassing leadership roles in biopharmaceutical and healthcare consulting companies including; Pfizer, Bristol-Myers Oncology, AMGEN and Covance Health Economics & Outcome Services. Her extensive knowledge of physician office, hospital inpatient/outpatient reimbursement systems enables her to work with clients to effectively position novel drugs, devices, and services with payers in each setting. Clients have commented that Denise has a knack for understanding their needs to pinpoint strategic, executable recommendations that link to specific outcomes. Denise's expertise is in injectable drugs, such as those used in oncology, nephrology, and cardiology. She has successfully created and executed strategic reimbursement plans enhancing patient access to allergy and cancer testing methodologies. Denise works with medical specialty societies to educate physicians on opportunities for collaboration with payers to develop positive coverage of technologies and services. She effectively partners physician groups with payers to affect coverage determinations that support physician discretion for patient diagnostic and treatment decisions.

Hoora is a graduate of California Lutheran University with a Master's degree in Education. Her business experience includes serving as a medical corporation's General Manager with oversight of multiple offices and over 70 staff members; work at pharmaceutical leader Amgen Corporation and over 5 years of award winning work in teaching and education. Hoora is married and has lived in Ventura County for over 11 years. She is also a member of the California Association of Realtors.

June Eisenman, SBLF board co-chair, was a member of the SBLF Founding Advisory Group and has served on the SBLF Board of Directors since 2003, with responsibilities including communications, development and strategic planning. June studied endocrinology and nutrition in the Animal Sciences Department at Washington State University and received a MS in 1982. June entered the Biotechnology sector, working at Immunex from 1982 to 2002 as a scientist in the Cellular Biochemistry, Experimental Hematology and Protein Chemistry Departments. June is currently a Senior Scientist in the Protein Sciences Department at Amgen.

Mark McCamish, M.D., Ph.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, joined the Company in February 2007. From 2003 to February 2007, Dr. McCamish served as Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Clinical Development for Perlegen Sciences, Inc., a company that analyzes unique genetic variations in clinical trial participants to develop genetically targeted, late-stage therapeutics and diagnostics. Between January 1998 and September 2003, Dr. McCamish served at Amgen, Inc., most recently as Global Development Leader responsible for the clinical development of Amgen's Aranesp product in new indications. From 1990 to 1997, he worked as a director at Abbott Laboratories with broad responsibilities that included national and international clinical research, design and development of new products in various therapeutic areas. Dr. McCamish received his Ph.D. at Penn State University, his M.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara . Dr. McCamish is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nutrition & Metabolism.

Mark de Souza is Senior Director of Corporate Development at Dyax Corp. Since 2001, his primary focus is partnering Dyax?s phage display technology for the discovery and development of biopharmaceuticals from Dyax?s antibody, peptide, and protein libraries. He is responsible for initiating new collaborations, in-licensing new technology, marketing Dyax?s scientific and business achievements, and managing existing alliances. Dyax currently has over 75 licensees and collaborators, including Amgen, AstraZeneca, Baxter, Biogen Idec, Genzyme, ImClone Systems, MedImmune, and Tanox.

Sherry Tsai is the Board Secretary for the LGBTQ Family Center. Sherry also serves on the Leadership Committee of Diversity at Amgen Inc. She attended the University of California, Berkeley where she received a degree in Pre Law. While at Berkeley she volunteered part time at the Diversity Office on campus. Sherry was born in Taiwan and Speaks Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese fluently. Sherry enjoys traveling, and seeing good plays such as her favorite The Phantom of the Opera. Sherry's other favorite past time is reading.

Mr. Johnson has a proven track record with more than 20 years of healthcare experience in marketing and general management with professional service companies providing consultation to leading corporations including Abbott, Amgen, Baxter, Beckman Coulter, Biogen Idec, Guidant, Johnson & Johnson, 3M Healthcare and emerging companies. Mr. Johnson has supported the launch of more than 200 global brands. He has a BBA in marketing from the University of Texas and an MBA in finance from Michigan State University.

Dr. David Baltimore has served as a director of the Company since June 1999. He is currently President Emeritus of and Robert Andrews Millikan Professor of Biology at the California Institute of Technology, or Caltech. From October 1997 to September 2006, Dr. Baltimore was the President of Caltech. From July 1995 to October 1997, Dr. Baltimore was an Institute Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT, and from July 1994 to October 1997, the Ivan R. Cottrell Professor of Molecular Biology and Immunology at MIT. Dr. Baltimore is a director of BB Biotech, AG, a Swiss investment company. In 1975, Dr. Baltimore was the co-recipient of the Nobel Prize in Medicine.

Mr. Franklin Pitcher ("Pitch") Johnson was co-founder in 1962 of Draper and Johnson Investment Company, venture capital company, and became an independent venture capitalist in 1965 as the founder of Asset Management Company, with which he is still associated. Asset Management Company has made over 200 venture investments during its more than 43 years of operation. These have included Amgen, Applied Bio Systems, Applied Micro Circuits, Conductus, Hybritech, IDEC Pharmaceuticals, Octel, Qume, Red Brick Systems, Remedy, Sierra Semiconductor, Tandem Computers, Teradyne and Verity. He is was a director of many of those companies and is presently a director of three private companies, and a public investment fund operating in eastern Europe. He is also a past director of the National Venture Capital Association, a past president of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists, and was a trustee of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District for 12 years. He also taught a class in entrepreneurship and venture capital at Stanford Business School for 12 years and is still active on the faculty there. He has served as an advisor to several eastern European countries since 1990 in the area of entrepreneurship and privatization, and has helped form venture funds in several countries. He is active in educational and cultural affairs and served as chairman of the board of San Francisco Opera from 1999-2008. Pitch has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Frederick W. Gluck Former Managing Director, McKinsey & Company, Inc. Mr. Frederick W. Gluck has served as a director of the Company since February 1998. He is currently a non-executive Chairman of the Board of CytomX Therapeutics, LLC and Cynvenio Biosystems LLC, privately-held medical technology companies. Mr. Gluck is a former managing partner of McKinsey & Company, Inc., an international management consulting firm. From 1967 to 1995, he served with McKinsey and from 1988 to 1994 he led the firm as its Managing Director, when he retired to join Bechtel Group, Inc., an engineering, construction and project management company, where he served as Vice Chairman and Director. Mr. Gluck retired from Bechtel in July 1998. He rejoined McKinsey as a consultant in 1998 and continued in that role until July 2003, when he retired.

Jerry D. Choate retired from Allstate Corporation, an insurance company, at the end of 1998 where he had served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer since 1995. Mr. Choate also serves as a director of Amgen, Inc. and Van Kampen Mutual Funds. He has served as a director of Valero since 1999.
