Anika Therapeutics Inc.

Charles H. Sherwood, Ph.D. has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Anika Therapeutics since 2002. Dr. Sherwood joined Anika in 1998 with extensive experience in research, engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, regulatory affairs and business management. He first served at Anika in the position of Vice President of Research, Development and Engineering. Prior to joining Anika, he was a senior director with Chiron Vision, responsible for medical product development and commercialization. From 1982 to 1995, Dr. Sherwood was with IOLAB Corporation, a division of Johnson & Johnson, where he led the Research and Product Development organization. Earlier, he held various technical and management positions with Hughes Aircraft Company and Lord Corporation. He was also on the faculty of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Dr. Sherwood holds a doctorate and master's degree in polymer science and engineering from the University of Massachusetts, a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University and a certificate in management from Claremont Graduate School.

Andrew Carter, Ph.D. joined Anika in January 2008 as Chief Technology Officer. Prior to joining Anika, Dr. Carter was Vice President and General Manager at Spine Wave, Inc., a Shelton, CT privately held company focused on developing innovative medical devices for the treatment of spinal disorders. Prior to joining Spine Wave, Inc., he held a variety of positions with increasing responsibilities with Smith & Nephew in the United Kingdom, and with S&N Endoscopy in Massachusetts. His research and product development responsibilities within Smith & Nephew included materials research, consumer products, wound management, orthopedics, arthroscopy and tissue engineering. Dr. Carter holds a B.Sc. degree and a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Technology from Queen Mary College, the University of London.

Frank Luppino is Chief Operating Officer of Anika Therapeutics, Inc. Frank rejoined Anika in May 2009 after serving as Vice President of Operations at Bionostics. Previously, he was Anika's Vice President of Operations from 2003 until his departure in 2007. Frank began his Anika career in 1999, and held several positions of increasing responsibility in the operations area.

Raymond J. Land, has been Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer since June 2008 and Corporate Secretary since July 2008. Ray has more than 30 years of financial experience and has had responsibility for accounting, tax, treasury, facilities, investor relations, information management, strategic planning and business development over those years. Prior to joining us, Ray served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer with Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. (NYSE: SFE), a company that provides growth capital to life science and technology companies. Previously, Ray was an Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer with Medcenter Solutions, Inc., a global pharmaceutical marketing company that specializes in providing online solutions for physicians, patients and sales representatives. Ray was also the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Orchid Bioscience (Nasdaq: ORCH), a DNA laboratory testing service company in 2005 and 2006. From 1997 to 2005, Ray was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Genencor International, Inc., a global biotechnology company that went public (Nasdaq: GCOR) during his tenure and was valued at $1.2 billion when it was sold in 2005. Ray’s experience also includes serving, from 1991 to 1996, as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc (NYSE: WST), a global manufacturer of pharmaceutical packaging and drug delivery products. For the nine years prior, Ray held a number of positions with Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB) including Vice President – Corporate Controller and Vice President – General Manager. Prior to that Ray was an audit manager with Coopers & Lybrand Ray has relocated to Southern California with his wife. He received a BBA in Accounting and Finance from Temple University

Irina Kulinets joined Anika in September 2007 as Vice President of Regulatory and Clinical Affairs. Prior to joining Anika, Mrs. Kulinets served as Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs at BioSphere Medical in Rockland, MA. She has 17 years of experience in the medical device industry with large and small manufacturers including Boston Scientific, Johnson & Johnson/DePuy, and OmniGuide where she served in various Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Affairs, and Quality Assurance technical, management and senior management roles. From 2001 to 2004, she served as a Medical Regulatory Reviewer and Lead Medical Auditor for Notified Body, TUV America. In addition, she is certified by the FDA as a Third Party 510K reviewer. She holds MS and BS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Belarus Polytechnic Academy and an MS degree in Quality Assurance from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She is RAPS certified RAC, ASQ certified Six Sigma Black Belt, and ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.

Randall Wilhoite is Vice President of Operations at Anika Therapeutics. He joined the Company in January 2006 as Director of Planning & Logistics and in January 2007 became Director of Operations. Prior to joining Anika, Mr. Wilhoite was a supply chain manager for Oscient Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company that develops therapeutics to address unmet medical needs. From 1988 to 2004, he held various management positions at Abbott Laboratories with increasing responsibilities in operations, planning and distribution. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Indiana.
