Mr. Hinton has 19 years of experience in a wide variety of architectural and construction projects. During his career he has served as principal; director of construction; project manager and project coordinator for new facilities, additions, renovations, ADA reviews, and code reviews. In the early part of his career his projects included office remodeling, multi-family housing, and health care facilities in Minnesota and the upper Midwest. In 1993 he was one of the original founders of the architectural firm Architron in Minneapolis. His major focus was on retail and warehouse type projects. He assisted Dayton Hudson Corporation in setting up their CAD standards and retail system that keeps track of inventory on floor plans which is still used today. He also developed prototype stores for some of the largest convenient store chains in the US which include Phillips 66, Coffee Cup Fuel Stops, and Crown Central Petroleum. Mr. Hinton also consulted with the Mitchell Design Group in Texas. He reviewed their designs for constructability. These projects were located throughout the US. In 1996 John started working on entertainment projects that ranged from movie theaters, hotels, casinos, and stadiums. His most notable projects in that time were the Isleta Gaming Palace project in New Mexico which won a 2001 Best Building Award and was constructrd for 1 million dollars under budget. Another project was the Phoenix Cardinals Stadium in which he was the project manager for all the mechanized components of that building which included a retractable roof, movable natural grass field, and opening wall. This building will have the first movable field in the US. John's thorough understanding of the design and construction process brings to ICI DESIGN an organized approach to tackle the most difficult projects. His team approach, problem solving, and communication skills allow him to lead a successful project, meeting the needs of the client.
