Patrick J. Zenner has been one of our Directors since 2002 and served as Interim Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of the Company from May 2005 until March 2006. Since 2001, Mr. Zenner has been self-employed as an advisor to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. From 1969 until 2001, Mr. Zenner worked for Hoffman-LaRoche Inc. From 1993 to 2001, he served as the President & Chief Executive Officer of Hoffman-LaRoche, Inc. Mr. Zenner is currently a Director of Arqule, Inc., EXACT Sciences, Inc., Geron Corporation, West Pharmaceutical Services, and Xoma Ltd. Mr. Zenner holds a B.S.B.A. from Creighton University where he serves on the Board, and an M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University where he currently serves as Chairman of the Board.
Lance Willsey, MD has served as a director since May 2000. Dr. Willsey was a founding partner of DCF Capital from July 1998 to April 2002. From July 1997 to July 1998, Dr. Willsey served on the Staff Department of Urologic Oncology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard University School of Medicine. From July 1996 to July 1997, Dr. Willsey served on the Staff Department of Urology at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard University School of Medicine, where he was a urology resident from July 1992 to July 1996. Dr. Willsey is also a director of Exelixis, Inc. Dr. Willsey holds a BS in physiology from Michigan State University and an MS in biology and an MD from Wayne State University. Patrick J. Zenner has served as a director since March 2003. In January 2001, Mr. Zenner retired from Hoffmann-La Roche Inc., North America, the prescription drug unit of the Roche Group, a leading research-based health care enterprise, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 1993, and was a member of the global Pharmaceutical Executive Committee. Mr. Zenner joined Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. as a sales representative in 1969 and subsequently held a series of marketing and business development posts that culminated in his being named Vice President and General Manager of Roche Laboratories in 1982. He later spent two and a half years with Roche Holding Ltd. as head of international pharmaceutical marketing, development and regulation. In 1988, Mr. Zenner was elected to Hoffmann-La Roche's Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and appointed Senior Vice President of the pharmaceutical division. Mr. Zenner also serves as a director of ArQule, Inc., Curagen Corporation, Dendrite International, Inc., First Horizon Pharmaceuticals Corporation, Genta Inc., Geron Corporation, Praecis Pharmaceuticals, Inc, West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. and Xoma Ltd. Mr. Zenner holds a BS in business administration from Creighton University and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a Trustee of both universities.

Alfred Goldberg, Ph.D., Professor of Cell Biology, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Goldberg's research focuses on the mechanisms, regulation and physiological importance of protein breakdown in animal and bacterial cells. He has contributed many fundamental discoveries about the ubiquitin proteasome pathway and its importance in immune surveillance. He has consulted widely in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and has served on the Scientific Advisory Boards of Biogen, Tanox and ProScript, as well as on the editorial board of several major journals of biochemistry and physiology. Among his honors are the 1998 Novartis-Dew Award for biomedical research, the 2004 Ochoa Award from New York University and the 2005 election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Goldberg was educated at Harvard College, Cambridge University and Harvard Medical School and received his Ph.D. from Harvard University.

Mr. Barabe joined HGS in July 2006. He has held a broad range of financial and strategic roles in the life sciences and healthcare industries. From September 2005 to June 2006, Mr. Barabe was Managing Director of the U.K. for Regent Medical Ltd., a U.K.-based privately owned surgical supply company, having been its Chief Financial Officer from 2004 to September 2005. Prior to joining Regent, Mr. Barabe was with Novartis AG from 1982-2004 in a succession of senior executive positions in finance, general management, and strategic planning, including Chief Financial Officer of the Sandoz Generics Business Unit (Vienna, Austria), President of the CIBA Vision Corporation Specialty Lens Business Franchise, Group Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CIBA Vision Corporation, and Director of Corporate Finance, Ciba-Geigy Corporation (subsequently acquired by Novartis AG). Mr. Barabe received his MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago and his BBA in Finance from the University of Massachusetts. He is a member of the Board of Directors of ArQule, Inc.
Mr. Pucci joined ArQule in June 2008 from Bayer A.G., where he served as senior vice president and president in charge of the Bayer-Schering Pharmaceuticals Global Oncology/Specialized Therapeutics Business Units. Previously Mr. Pucci was senior vice president and president of Bayer Pharmaceuticals Global Specialty Business Unit, head of U.S. Pharmaceutical Operations and a member of the Bayer Pharmaceuticals Global Management Committee. At Bayer, Mr. Pucci was involved in a broad range of activities related to Nexavar® (sorafenib), an oral multiple kinase inhibitor to treat liver and kidney cancers. These activities included clinical development, regulatory review, corporate alliance management, product launch and marketing. Mr. Pucci joined Bayer as head of its Italian Pharmaceutical operations in 2001. Prior to Bayer, Mr. Pucci held positions of increasing responsibility with Eli Lilly, culminating with his appointment as managing director, Eli Lilly Sweden AB. At Lilly, his responsibilities included operations, sales, marketing and strategic planning. Mr. Pucci holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and is a graduate of the Universita Degli Studi Di Napoli in Naples, Italy.
Stephen A. Hill. Dr. Hill was elected our chairman of the board of directors in September 2007. Dr. Hill has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since April 2008. Prior to joining Solvay, Dr. Hill had served as ArQule's President and Chief Executive Officer since April 1999. Prior to his tenure at ArQule, Dr. Hill was the Head of Global Drug Development at F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. from 1997 to 1999. Dr. Hill joined Roche in 1989 as Medical Adviser to Roche Products in the United Kingdom. He held several senior positions at Roche, including Medical Director where he was responsible for clinical trials of compounds across a broad range of therapeutic areas, including CNS, HIV, cardiovascular, metabolic and oncology products. Subsequently, he served as Head of International Drug Regulatory Affairs at Roche headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, where he led the regulatory submissions for seven major new chemical entities. Dr. Hill also was a member of Roche's Portfolio Management, Research, Development and Pharmaceutical Division Executive Boards. Prior to Roche, Dr. Hill served seven years with the National Health Service in the United Kingdom in General and Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Hill is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and holds his scientific and medical degrees from St. Catherine's College at Oxford University.

Mr. Lawrence joined ArQule in April 2006 from Pod Holding Ltd., an international venture capital firm which he co-founded in 2001 and where he most recently served as general partner. He helped drive the strategic growth of that firm, including deal sourcing and structuring, syndication and business expansion activities. Mr. Lawrence served as lead partner on investment activities for a number of companies, including the cancer company, Pintex Pharmaceuticals. Previously, Mr. Lawrence was an attorney and partner at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., from 1991 to 2001. At Mintz Levin, he served as external corporate counsel to public and private companies, managed a transactional legal practice and provided strategic guidance to clients through periods of rapid growth and transformative corporate events. His public financing experiences include the initial public offering and numerous financings for America Online Inc. (AOL), as well as public financings for Biogen, Human Genome Sciences, Hybridon and many other companies. He worked on numerous mergers and acquisitions, including Roche/Compuchem, AOL/Time Warner, Steinway Piano, DEC/Intel, and Mitotix/GPC Biotech. Mr. Lawrence worked at Gaston & Snow from 1989 to 1991 in the firm’s Corporate Law Department. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.

Dr. Chan joined ArQule in December, 2005 as vice president, pharmacology and toxicology. He was promoted to his current position in 2008 and manages all research activities and new oncology drug candidate selection at ArQule. He is also responsible for toxicology and clinical pharmacology of the Company's drug candidates currently in human clinical trials. Dr. Chan was previously at MacroChem Corporation from 2001 to 2005, where he served as chief technology officer and vice president, research and development. He was also senior director, pharmacology and toxicology, at EPIX Medical, Inc. from 1997 to 2000, and director of therapeutic development at Creative Biomolecules from 1993 to 1997. Prior to his career in industry, Dr. Chan held a number of academic appointments, most recently as associate director of the Purdue University Cancer Center and a tenured professor at Purdue University and Indiana University. He is a member of several NIH Study Sections and consults for the U.S. Department of Defense on their prostate and breast cancer research programs. Dr. Chan received his doctorate in pharmacology/toxicology from the University of British Columbia and was a postdoctoral fellow in hematology/oncology at the Cancer Center of the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.

Mr. Messina joined the Company in 1997 and has served as the Vice President of Human Development since June 1999. Prior to joining ArQule, Mr. Messina was Vice President for Camden Consulting (1994-1997) and Human Resources Manager for Varian Associates (1978-1994). He received his B.B.A. in management from the University of Massachusetts and has an M.Ed in human resources from Boston University.

Prof Petsko is Gyula and Katica Tauber Professor of Biochemistry and Chemistry and Director, Rosenstiel Basic Medical Sciences Research Center, Brandeis University. He is also Adjunct Professor, Department of Neurology and Center for Neurologic Diseases, Brigham & Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School and Co-Director, Structural Neurology Laboratory. Before moving to Brandeis, Petsko was Professor of Chemistry at M.I.T. He is a co-founder of ArQule, Inc. and serves on the boards of several other biotechnology companies, including Microbia and Compound Therapeutics. He is a member of the Scientific Review Board, the Medical Advisory Board of the Howard Hughes Medical Institutes, the National Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Medicine, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics at Oxford University.

Arthur B. Pardee, Ph.D. is Professor of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology Emeritus at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. A scientist of international stature, Dr. Pardee is a world-recognized authority on the cell cycle and regulations. He has made numerous seminal discoveries related to the cell cycle, including discovery of the restriction (“R”) cellular checkpoint in the G1 phase of the cell cycle, invention of differential display, allosteric regulation, feedback inhibition and transcription regulation. Dr. Pardee is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the recipient of numerous national and international scientific awards.
Gerard I. Evan, Ph.D. is the Gerson and Barbara Bass Baker Distinguished Professor of Cancer Biology at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Evan has made fundamental contributions to the understanding of how activation of the oncogene c-myc contributes to apoptosis and carcinogenesis. He is widely considered a pioneering thinker and world authority on apoptosis in cancer biology.

Robert A. Weinberg, Ph.D. is the Daniel K. Ludwig and American Cancer Society Professor for Cancer Research at the Whitehead Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a winner of the 1997 National Medal of Science. In 1980, his laboratory identified the first human oncogene, ras. In 1986, he and his colleagues isolated the first tumor suppressor gene, the retinoblastoma (Rb) gene. These achievements revolutionized the way scientists think about the origins of cancer and paved the way for powerful new technologies in cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Lindsay serves as Sequenom's interim senior vice president of research and development. Dr. Lindsay has been a director since 2003. He currently operates Milestone Consulting, a biopharmaceutical consulting firm. Dr. Lindsay served as vice president, research and development, and chief science officer of diaDexus Inc., a biotechnology company, from 2000 to January 2004. From 1997 through 2000, Dr. Lindsay served in various senior management roles with Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company. From 1989 to 1997, Dr. Lindsay served in various roles with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc., of which he was a founding scientist. He is a director of Arqule Inc., and HistoRx Inc. Dr. Lindsay received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Calgary.

Mr. Ha-Ngoc is President and CEO of AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a privately held biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of novel cancer therapeutics. From 1999 to 2002, he was co-founder, President and CEO of deNovis, Inc., an enterprise-scale software development company for the automation of healthcare administrative functions. From 1998 to 1999, Mr. Ha-Ngoc was Corporate Vice President of Strategic Development for Wyeth, following Wyeth's acquisition of Genetics Institute, where Mr. Ha-Ngoc served as Executive Vice President with responsibility for Corporate Development, Commercial Operations, European and Japanese Operations. Prior to joining Genetics Institute in 1984, Mr. Ha-Ngoc held various marketing and business positions at Baxter Healthcare, Inc. He received his MBA degree from INSEAD and his Master's degree in pharmacy from the University of Paris, France. William G. Kaelin, Jr., M.D. is a Professor of Medicine and a Clinical Oncologist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School and is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator. His research has elucidated fundamental mechanisms of tumor suppressor genes, including pathogenesis of enhanced incidence of cancer in von Hippel Lindau Syndrome, a genetic disease that can be used as a model of cancer pathogenesis generally. His laboratory has discovered genetic control elements, intracellular pathways and a novel enzyme that contributes to cancer formation.
