Medline has donated more than $250,000 in the last two years, which could provide up to 2,000 free mammograms to women in need. Every two minutes, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer. One in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Men can also get breast cancer; in fact, 400 American men will die from it this year. These are startling statistics, but behind the statistics are people sisters, daughters, mothers, grandmothers, neighbors, and friends. Any one of the 244,000 women who will be diagnosed this year could be someone we love, and likewise for the 1600 men. That's why Medline is on a mission to change the future by taking action now. We're making a year-round commitment to fighting this disease. Together, we can save lives through early detection! Although mammograms are among the best forms of early detection, more than 13 million American women over the age of 40 have never had one. The Centers for Disease Control recommend that women begin having yearly mammograms at age 40. These facts form the foundation of Medline's "Together We Can Save Lives" campaign. Medline is partnering with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, which provides grants to hospitals and healthcare organizations that offer free mammograms for underprivileged women. By teaming up with NBCF, we can give back to our customers and their communities, help promote early detection of breast cancer, and ultimately save lives.
