Mohan S. Misra, Ph.D., Founder and Chief Executive Officer: Dr. Misra also is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of ITN. Before founding ITN in 1994, Dr. Misra spent 19 years with Martin Marietta in the areas of material research, development and manufacturing. While at Martin Marietta, Dr. Misra worked first as manager of Research and Technology, then led the company’s development of long-term technology strategies. Dr. Misra has helped develop and implement several key technologies for aerospace applications including thin-film photovoltaic, smart materials, advanced composites and lightweight structures. Dr. Misra holds a B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Benaras Hindu University in India, a M.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

Prior to joining Ascent Solar in October 2005, Ms. Casteel served as the Controller and Business Operations Manager of ITN for over nine years. At ITN, she supervised the financial and accounting staffs and was responsible for negotiation and administration of ITN’s government and commercial contracts, as well as its agreements with subcontractors. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a CPA (active) in Colorado. Ms. Casteel holds an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Nebraska College of Business and a B.S. degree in Accounting from Metropolitan State College in Denver.

Joseph Armstrong, Ph.D., Vice President & Chief Technology Officer: Dr. Armstrong served as the Manager of ITN’s Advanced Photovoltaic Division from 1995 until joining Ascent Solar in October 2005. While at ITN, Dr. Armstrong led its advancement into thin-film CIGS flexible Photovoltaic products. Prior to joining ITN, Dr. Armstrong was employed for 10 years by Martin Marietta Corporation (now Lockheed Martin), where he managed Photovoltaic research projects. He is a named inventor on four U.S. patents in areas including shape memory alloys, thin-film PV technology and electronic circuit assembly. Dr. Armstrong holds a B.S. degree in Physics from Lewis University in Illinois and a M.S. degree and Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from the University of Denver.

Prem Nath, Ph.D., Sr. Vice President, Production Operations: has over 25 years of thin -film photovoltaic(PV) product development and manufacturing experience. Prior to joining Ascent Solar in August 2006, Dr. Nath served as Vice President, Product Manufacturing and Development for United Solar Ovonic, a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Conversion Devices Inc. He was responsible for product development and successful transition into manufacturing of thin-film amorphous silicon PV products. Dr. Nath has co-authored more than 50 technical papers and is named on over 50 issued US patents on PV processes, products and materials. He holds a M.Sc. degree in Physics from Punjab University in India, an M.Tech. degree in Solid State Technology from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in India and Ph.D. degree in Solid State Technology from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in India.

Joseph McCabe, Vice President of Business Development: Mr. McCabe brings over 15 years of photovoltaic (PV) industry experience to Ascent Solar and has expertise in the areas of building integrated photovoltaics, photovoltaic / thermal collectors, and zero energy homes. Mr. McCabe owns a U.S. patent integrating LED lighting directly into PV surfaces. From 2000 until 2004, he managed solar energy research for the State of California, at the Public Interest Energy Research office of the California Energy Commission. Most recently he generated multiple contracts with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District and was a technical support contractor for the California Energy Commission. Mr. McCabe is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Dayton, a Masters degree in Nuclear and Energy Engineering from the University of Arizona, and a Masters of Business Administration from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

Bruce Lanning, Ph.D. is the manager of the thin-film technologies group at ITN, a group he also managed from 1997 until 2002. From 2002 until November 2005, Dr. Lanning was the principal scientist at the Southwest Research Institute, where he investigated the development of a wireless thin-film sensor system for the U.S. Department of Energy. He has over 25 years of professional experience in materials research, with particular emphasis in the area of phase transformation/thermodynamics of thin-film surface and interfacial sciences. Dr. Lanning holds a B.S. degree, M.S. degree and Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

R. Scott Burrows, Corporate Secretary: Since 1988, Mr. Burrows has been an officer and director of Renaissance Homes of Colorado, Inc., a builder of custom and semi-custom homes in and around Denver, Colorado. Since 1985, he also worked independently as a tax consultant and financial planning specialist. Mr. Burrows is a CPA in both California and Colorado. Mr. Burrows holds a B.S. degree from the University of Colorado and a M.B.A. from San Diego State University.

Since 1984, Mr. Gallery has been the chief executive officer of Carts of Colorado, Inc., a provider of mobile merchandising for the food service industry. He also is managing partner of G3 Holdings LLC, which makes real estate and other investments, primarily in the Denver area. He also is a co-founder of Bluegate Creek JV and Bluegate Creek II, which are oil and gas ventures in Wyoming. Prior to joining Ascent, Mr. Gallery served on the board of directors of ITN from 2001 until joining our Board in October 2005.

Dr. Russell is the Allan P. Colburn Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Delaware. Professor Russell is a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and a registered professional engineer in the State of Delaware (P.E.). He is a co-inventor of four U.S. patents for the continuous deposition of photovoltaic material on moving substrates and is the author of over 100 engineering and scientific papers. He has an industrial background in process design and has served as a consultant to a number of firms in the chemical processing industries. Dr. Russell holds a B.Sc. degree and a M.Sc. degree from the University of Alberta in Canada and a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware.
