Asset Acceptance Capital purchases and collects defaulted or charged-off accounts receivable portfolios from consumer credit originators. Co. acquires these receivables from consumer credit originators, which include credit card issuers, consumer finance companies, healthcare providers, retail merchants, telecommunications and utility providers, as well as from resellers and other holders of consumer debt. Co. periodically sells receivables from these portfolios to unaffiliated companies. In addition, Co. finances the sales of consumer product retailers as well as services medical receivables on a contingent fee basis. As of Dec 31 2007, Co. had purchased 853 consumer debt portfolios.
