Steven E. Harms, MD, FACR is a radiologist at the Breast Center of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR, Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR and Medical Director of Aurora Imaging Technology in North Andover, MA. His MRI research dates to work in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Lauterbur, the originator of MR and winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2005. Dr. Harms' numerous awards include the Annual William Beaumont Award by the American Medical Association given annually to the outstanding physician under the age of 50. In 1996, he was recognized as one of the top 100 physicians in the United States and also that same year was named by D Magazine as one of the top 10 physicians in the DFW Metroplex. In 1998, he was awarded the Annual Scientist of the Year by the Komen Foundation. That same year, he was made fellow in the American College of Radiology. He is past-president of the Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. Physician colleagues voted him for the past six years to the "Best Doctors in America". He is currently on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Breast Disease and is Program Chairman for 2007. He has authored over 100 scientific papers, 42 book chapters, and 9 patents.

Dr. Paul Ching-Wu Chu has gained worldwide renown for his discoveries in superconductivity the cornerstone of the MRI technology used in Aurora breast-imaging systems. He is currently the President of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology one of the fastest growing research universities in the Pacific Rim and also serves as T.L.L. Temple Chair of Science, Professor of Physics and Executive Director of the Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston. Professor Chu received his B.S. degree in physics from Cheng-Kung University in Taiwan, his M.S. degree in physics from Fordham University in New York, and his Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of California at San Diego. Following two years of research at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ, Dr. Chu was appointed Assistant Professor of Physics at Cleveland State University in 1970, where he was promoted to Professor of Physics in 1975. He joined the University of Houston as Professor of Physics in 1979. At the University of Houston, Dr. Chu carried out research on superconductivity, the phenomenon in which electrical resistance in certain materials completely disappears at extremely low temperatures. In 1987, he and his team made an epic breakthrough: Using a special ceramic material, they achieved stable superconductivity at a relatively high temperature (above the boiling point of liquid nitrogen). This finding ushered in the age of high-temperature superconductivity, which has made commercial use of superconductivity much more feasible. Dr. Chu's discovery has been called one of the most significant advances in all of modern physics. He has been honored with some of the world's most prestigious scientific awards including the U.S. National Medal of Science, the Bernd Matthias Prize, and John Fritz Medal, which he shares with such luminaries as Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison and Enrico Fermi.

Feng is responsible for successfully recruiting and securing the funds for the James Von Ehr Distinguished Chair in Science and Technology for Dr. Alan MacDiarmid, the 2000 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry. He also painstakingly recruited the nanotechnology research team of Honeywell Corporation in New Jersey. This team is now the backbone of UTD's rapidly growing nanoscience program. In addition, Feng also initiated a SPRING (Strategic Partnership of Research in NanotechnoloGy) project, which linked together, besides UTD, Rice University, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas at Arlington. For FY03 and FY04, Feng worked closely with the Congressional delegation of Texas to secure $6 Million and $10 Million, respectively, for SPRING funding. He also founded the Medical Device Action Group, a regional effort to promote interdisciplinary research in this technological arena. Research funding for UTD increased from $16 Million to $28 Million during the past three years. Feng is an expert in mathematical physics, nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics, quantum optics, fundamental issues of quantum mechanics, network architecture and computational physics. He has been a consultant to the theoretical physics groups of Los Alamos National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory and United Kingdom's Daresbury Laboratory. Feng has published more than 190 scientific papers, edited more than 20 books, and served as editor of four scientific journals. In recognition of his contribution to the field of physics, Feng received the accolade "Fellow of the American Physical Society". Each year, no more than one-half of one percent of the current membership of the Society are recognized by their peers for election to the status of Fellow. He also is the Honorary Professor/Senior Research Fellow of six universities/academy of sciences in China and the honorary member of the Board of Trustees of one of China's top universities, Nanjing University.
