Study English is presented by Adelaide based actor and performer Margot Politis, who is also the host of the ABC Education program Like It Is. Margot graduated in 2003 from Flinders University Drama Centre with an Honours degree in Creative Arts and Drama Performance. That year she performed a self devised solo physical theatre work, Hospitality, as part of the Cabaret Fringe at the Weimar Room; and in 2004 toured schools performing Doorways to Stories with Splash Theatre Company. As well as presenting the first series of Study English in 2004, Margot received a 'Foot in the Door' grant from the Australia Council for the Arts Dance Board which she used to work with Restless Dance Company for a year.
